“I love those who love Me; And those who seek Me early and diligently will find Me. “Riches and honor are with me, Enduring wealth and righteousness (right standing with God). “My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, And my yield is better than choicest silver. “I, [Wisdom, continuously] walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth and true riches, And that I may fill their treasuries (Proverbs 8:17-21 AMP).

Beloved reading our feature text, the thought that came to mind was; “What else do we really need‎?” Life could be so much better for a lot of us if only we can just really go to (and through) the Source for everything we need.

The Expanded Bible Translation of our feature text says… RICHES AND HONOR ARE MINE TO GIVE. SO ARE LASTING WEALTH AND SUCCESS… So, don’t you think one has to be really silly to pass this by? The text isn’t saying you have to work for 40 hours out of 24 hours a day in order to get what you need. All it says is seek Me… How hard can that be?

Beloved, there’s a song by Hillsong with lyrics that say… “Christ is enough for me… everything I need is in You…”

There are times when wisdom requires you to stop and think; a situation where you say; “What am I actually doing?” I remember having a chat with a friend a while ago about all the things we’ve chased in order to make it in life but when we looked back at our lives; with all our education and achievements, like Peter, we finally came to the harsh reality that… we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets] (Luke 5:5 AMPC).

Beloved, the Lord says… RICHES AND HONOR ARE MINE TO GIVE. SO ARE LASTING WEALTH AND SUCCESS. The Lord is not in the business of withholding anything from His beloved ones. All He wants is for us to go about it the right way and get it right which is to‎… seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides (Mathew 6:33 AMPC).

Beloved, have you toiled all night and caught nothing? COULD YOUR LIFE BE SO MUCH BETTER? Yes, I know you are saved but are you still spending the most part of your day chasing after other things while your relationship with the Lord is being neglected? Here’s what the Lord is saying to you today… I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me. RICHES AND HONOR ARE MINE TO GIVE. SO ARE LASTING WEALTH AND SUCCESS…

You must realise that… He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV). So, seek Him for a much better life.

29. November 2017 · Comments Off on IS YOUR FAITH SO LITTLE? · Categories: Faith, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Trusting God

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. WHY DO YOU HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs (Matthew 6:30-32 NLT).

Beloved, in a book I was reading a while ago, I remember coming across these thought-provoking words below that caught my attention.

The author said; “Persons of small faith seek after small things – food, drink, clothes – and in so doing they miss life’s meaning. Those who put God first, on the other hand, find all that is needed to sustain life’s important purpose”.

The phrase that came to mind after reading this was ‘misplaced priorities’ and for me, it raised the question; what are we really using our faith for? The truth is that if you become kingdom minded and pursue after the things of God; those things that are dear to Him and those things for which He purposely created you for, then the things needed to sustain you as you do so would locate you. You don’t have to stress about where money is coming from for food and clothing etc.

Beloved, according to Jesus, YOUR FAITH IS LITTLE if that’s what you use it on. I take care of the birds that fly, I take care of the flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, so do you think I won’t take care of you?

In the book I was reading, the author went on to say, “small faith is associated with an inadequate concept of God”. In order words, your knowledge of God and His agenda for mankind is limited. That is; you have the wrong idea of who God is and what He is about …but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits (Daniel 11:32 KJV).

Beloved, do you want to do exploits for God? Then you need to change your concept about Him. This would take a major mindset adjustment but… I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people (Ephesians 1:18 NIV)

Beloved, please make the above scripture your prayer so that the Lord would start to reveal great things you can use your faith for. Also, please meditate on these two verses;

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, AND LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY, and He will give you everything you need (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17 NIV).

Beloved, here’s another question for you. Are you seeking after the things that make your peace and joy vulnerable to the attack of the enemy? SELAH!

28. November 2017 · Comments Off on RELEASING PEOPLE TO THE LORD · Categories: Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Relationship, Trusting God

For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13 AMP).

Beloved, a lot of times, we want to play God in people’s lives. We tend to make it our goal to try to fix people. We say; “if only I can just get them to behave the way I want them to behave, then everything would be fine, but I remember someone give a very good teaching on the difference between godly goals and desires. They said; “a godly goal DOES NOT depend on people or circumstances beyond your ability or right to control. A godly desire, on the other hand, depends on the corporation of other people and because others are involved, you have no control over the outcome. For example, you can make it a goal to change yourself for the better. That’s within your control. But when it comes to other people, this can only be a desire. This is where you have to say, “it is my desire that you change to be a better person, but I have no control over it”. In such cases, it’s advisable to pray for them in love and release them to God.

The Bible tells us about Philemon whom Apostle Paul wrote a letter pleading on behalf of Onesimus, his runaway slave. In the letter, he tells Philemon that he came in contact with Onesimus and led him to Christ; an encounter that brought about a changed man. Apostle Paul told Philemon that Onesimus which means ‘useful’ or ‘profitable’… hasn’t been of much use to you in the past, but now he is very useful to both of us (Philemon 1:11 NLT).

Who knows, perhaps, Philemon didn’t spend a day without telling Onesimus how useless he was but as a slave, he probably was in chains and wasn’t free to be the useful person that God called him to be. However, an encounter with Jesus broke those chains and I love that Apostle Paul said… Perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a while, so that you would have him back forever (Philemon 1:15 AMP).

Beloved, letting go is sometimes hard. You feel you’re losing control and that all your labour and investments have gone down the drain but there’s some wisdom in that old saying that “If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours; if they don’t, they never were.” In the end, Philemon didn’t lose Onesimus. Under the guidance of a great man of God, Onesimus was advised to go and face the past and not run away from it. He was truly repentant and took the steps to reconciliation. But he may not have found himself if he hadn’t left.

Beloved, releasing people to God is the best thing you can do when things are beyond your control and you’ve got to trust that Jesus will do the work in them so that they can be the person that He has called them to be. As a desire, the best you can do is to continually pray for them in love.

Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation] (1 Corinthians 10:12 AMP).

Beloved, I have probably said this before. One of the things I have observed is that the closer your relationship is with Jesus, the more you realise that you desperately need His help to survive this world.

Using Old Testament examples, Apostle Paul warns us of the things we shouldn’t do so that God would not be displeased with us. It starts by saying we should not lust after evil things as our forefathers also lusted. We should not become idolaters as they did. We shouldn’t commit sexual immorality as they did. Some of us would be able to read some of these with a little bit of ease. We may say so far, we are not doing too badly but then it starts to get trickier. It starts to say we should not… tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted…; NOR COMPLAIN, AS SOME OF THEM ALSO COMPLAINED, AND WERE DESTROYED BY THE DESTROYER (1 Corinthians 10:12 NKJV).

NOR COMPLAIN!!!!!! At this point, if Jesus were to stand before us and say let he who is without sin cast the first stone, I’m sure all of us would drop our stones and would find ourselves before the throne of grace asking for help.

Beloved, with everything that is thrown at us on a daily basis, isn’t it hard not to complain? Don’t you wish some things were taken out of the Bible? But as we know… every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us (2 Timothy 3:16-17 MSG).

We’ve been given reasons why God was not pleased with our forefathers and we are told… these things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age (1 Corinthians 10:11 NLT).

We shouldn’t lust after evil things and we shouldn’t become idolaters. Well, if you think of this and only see a golden image, then you are fine but when you start to think of all those things that you’ve placed first before God e.g. your favourite TV that you just have to watch, precious time spent on Facebook, your career, your own will; you know the things we tend to worship.

Beloved, let anyone who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. The Message Translation says… Don’t be so NAIVE AND SELF-CONFIDENT. YOU’RE NOT EXEMPT. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.

Beloved, scripture says… For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (Philippians 2:13 NLT). This is one scripture I always pray with, asking the Lord to do the work He needs to me. Why not make this your prayer?

26. November 2017 · Comments Off on SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS NEEDED · Categories: Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Revelation, Spiritual Growth

There is much more we would like to say… but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong (Hebrews 5:11-14 NLT)

Beloved, more than ever before, I’m realising that there is so much that God wants to reveal to us but most times, we are kind of responsible for where we are in life. Like I often say to myself “if only I had known then what I know now, I would have been so much further in life. Why have I cheated myself like this?”

Most times, we sit down there waiting for the Lord to move in our lives, but do you know He just might also be waiting for us to grow up so that He can move in our lives? Our capacity to feast on solid food (deeper knowledge of God) is dependent on our spiritual growth. But like my study Bible rightly put it, “too often we want God’s banquet before we are spiritually capable of digesting it.”

Apostle Paul said I speak baby talk to infants but… when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom… the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God… God revealed these things by His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:6-10 NLT). Talking about spiritual truths, he goes on to say… But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means (1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT).

Beloved, in a nutshell, Apostle Paul is talking about operating in a higher dimension of God’s wisdom and revelation and there are times when we’ve just got to let the Holy Spirit minister to us like only Him can. So, who does the Bible call babies?

Let’s see; Peter said… get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment (1 Peter 2:1-2 NLT). But then, Paul says we must also grow. He said… I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. AND YOU STILL AREN’T READY, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? (1 Corinthians 3:2-3 NLT)

Beloved, is the Holy Spirit speaking to you?

She made Samson sleep on her knees, and she called a man and had him shave off the seven braids of his head. Then she began to abuse Samson, and his strength left him. She said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as I have time after time and shake myself free.” For Samson did not know that the Lord had departed from him (Judges 16:19-20 AMP).

Beloved, a few years back, I remember meeting this absolutely amazing woman. She was highly intellectual, a high achiever and had an amazing career but after a few relationship setbacks, all she did was just seat there most times gazing into space, obviously very lost; all because of a matter of the heart and I couldn’t help but wonder how love could reduce a person to that.

Unfortunately, many have been duped and been heartbroken by people who were so careful to warm their way into their hearts and as I meditate on the story of Samson, I can’t help but think that it’s so sad how mighty men have fallen; how strong women have had their hearts chattered into pieces just because of where they decided to lay their heart.

Beloved, our dear Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah… (Judges 16:4) who eventually made him physically blind. Perhaps, that’s where they got the saying… ‘love is blind’. She kept bothering [nagged; pressed] Samson about his secret day after day until he felt he was going to die [his soul was annoyed to death]! So he told her everything [ALL HIS HEART]… (Judges 16:16-17 EXB)

We know the story. Samson got betrayed by Delilah whom he gave his heart to and he eventually got to the point where he didn’t want to live anymore (Judges 16:30) and I’m thinking, you can get many things right in life but if you get this one thing wrong, you could be done for.

Beloved, I don’t know who this is for because it’s one of those random warning messages that come to me which honestly, I’ve tried to ignore but it keeps coming back. When we talk of heartbreaks, there’s always a focus on men breaking women’s hearts but one of the greatest stories ever told that’s recorded in the Bible is about a woman completely destroying a mighty man’s life and destiny so this message is for all… both men and women… to be careful and seriously pray for God’s guidance when it comes to matters of the heart. Like someone said, if you aren’t completely whole, you have no business entering a relationship because you then rely on someone else to complete you. That’s when you hand your heart over and are at their mercy to do with it whatever they choose.

I remember the song that says ‘the heart is not so smart’ but the Bible warns… Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23 AMP).

Beloved, above all that you guard, you must guard your heart. You must hand your heart to Jesus who is able to direct your steps (Psalm 37:23).

Job stood up and tore his robe in grief… FELL TO THE GROUND TO WORSHIP. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!” In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God (Job 1:20-22 NLT).

Beloved, yesterday was thanksgiving in American and I had the opportunity to watch a thanksgiving service thst streamed online where a prominent American preacher shared how in this year alone, he had to do a back surgery but before recovering from that, he had to do another surgery because he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and then as if that was not enough, he had to bury his mother who passed away; all in one year and there he was, preaching with all his might about praising and thanking the Lord while going through the storms of life. Yes, he was overwhelmed and sobbed a few times as he preached but he still praised the Lord till it gave the devil a headache because that’s not the response he was expecting.

It made me think of Job. After his first ordeal, we are told in our feature text of how he responded which was remarkable after what he had just experienced. However, you would think that after that, the Lord would be so pleased that he would begin to open doors for him but NO… it was more trouble. Satan went back to ask for permission to bring him more affliction and you won’t believe the Lord’s response… “All right, do with him as you please,” the Lord said to Satan. “But spare his life.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot (Job 2:6-7 NLT).

Beloved, I’m sure Job couldn’t believe it. Why? But I’ve been praising and worshiping You and saying and doing all the right things. Where did I go wrong? But he didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, as we know, the Lord had just finished boasting about him to satan… “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.” (Job 2:3 NLT)

Beloved, the Lord trusted Job enough with trouble. Could this be your case too? Satan would always attack. The Bible says we should… not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you (1 Peter 4:12 NIV) because your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith… And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast (1 Peter 5:8-10 NIV).

Stand firm. Know that the Lord trusts you and if He restored Job, He would definitely restore you.

And Jacob awoke from his sleep and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it (Genesis 28:16 AMP).

Beloved, difficult situations may arise in our lives where we don’t know which way to turn. We feel like we are all alone and can’t find anyone to help us. During those times, we may even start wondering where God is. Have you ever been there?

Well, there was a time Jacob had to run for his life because his brother was plotting to kill him (Genesis 27:41) …When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. TAKING ONE OF THE STONES THERE, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it (Genesis 28:10-12 NLT).

Beloved, Jacob was all alone and after travelling for a while, he decided to look for a place to rest. Out of the stones in that place, he happened to take one particular stone which happened to be a shadow of Jesus Christ. Remember Jesus told Nathanael… “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.” (John 1:49-51 NIV)

Can you imagine how uncomfortable it must have been to use a stone as your pillow? However, that was how Jesus chose to reveal Himself to Jacob and as Jacob found that place of rest, the Lord started to reveal His plans for his life.

Beloved, are you going through a rocky situation? Perhaps, it seems like you are about to lose everything. Please know that it’s not the end of the road for you. Instead of killing yourself with worry, why not calm down and search for where Jesus has positioned Himself waiting for you to find Him? Don’t ask me why, but somehow Jesus chooses to reveal Himself in the midst of trouble. He doesn’t want you to be troubled. He said… “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid (John 14:27 NLT).

The Message Translation says… I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.

Beloved, today, I pray that you are able to calm down and say; “Jesus, I know that it’s hard to imagine that You are right here with me in this hard and rocky place but please reveal Yourself to me. Please open my eyes so I can see where You have positioned Yourself in this place that I’ve found myself in. As you do so, I pray the peace of the Lord that surpasses all understanding rest on you.

Philip SOUGHT AND FOUND Nathanael and told him, We have found (discovered) the One Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote about—Jesus from Nazareth, the [legal] son of Joseph! Nathanael answered him, [Nazareth!] Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip replied, Come and see! (John 1:45-46 AMPC)

Beloved, if there’s one thing the enemy would like you to think is that you’ve been forgotten and that all your efforts have gone unnoticed. “So, why not give in and do what others are doing?” However, that’s a lie from the pit of hell.

I like how our feature text says… Philip SOUGHT AND FOUND Nathanael and you can tell that Nathanael was a unique person because of what Jesus said about him… Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and said CONCERNING HIM, See! Here is an Israelite indeed [a true descendant of Jacob], in whom there is NO GUILE NOR DECEIT NOR FALSEHOOD NOR DUPLICITY! (John 1:47 AMP)

Beloved, is this you? Is this what Jesus has to say concerning you? If so, do you know that there are not many like you? Because of how you’ve chosen to live your life, people may have to look carefully to find you. They would say; let me make an attempt to see if there’s anyone out there that still has some integrity; one that tries to live a godly life.

The New Living Translation says… A MAN OF COMPLETE INTEGRITY. That was Nathanael’s CV in the midst of a corrupt people and that was what Jesus said CONCERNING HIM.

Beloved, this was a shocker for Nathanael… Who told you?… Nathanael said to Jesus, How do You know me? [How is it that You know these things about me?] Jesus answered him, Before [ever] Philip called you, when you were still under the fig tree, I SAW YOU. (John 1:48 AMPC)

“WOW… You saw me then?” “Yes I did! And I also know what you’ve been up to; how you’ve refused to compromise – how you’ve spent the whole time seeking Me”.

Beloved, are you under your own fig tree today? Have you been in a place of prayer, worship, seeking for answers and a visitation from the Lord? Please know that Jesus sees you.

Nathanael answered, Teacher, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! Jesus replied, Because I said to you, I saw you beneath the fig tree, do you believe in and rely on and trust in Me? You shall see greater things than this! (John 1:49-50 AMPC)

Beloved, because of what some of us have been through, we would be happy if Jesus can only acknowledge that He sees us. Some would take comfort in just knowing that at least He knows where I am. However, Jesus is saying to you today; I would go beyond that. I’m about to perform GREATER THINGS in your life.

Beloved, Jesus already knew about Nathanael before Philip found him. Same applies to you. HE SEES AND KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE… So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up (Galatians 6:9 NLT).

21. November 2017 · Comments Off on WHEN THERE’S NO REASON TO KEEP HOPING · Categories: Faith, God's Plan, Hope, Jesus Christ, Trusting God

[For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised… (Romans 4:18 AMP).

Beloved, many years ago, I remember when one of the TV stations in the UK aired the Bible series featuring some of the Bibles main characters. One of such characters was Abraham and it was so interesting to watch him go through all the motions and all the family drama as he waited on the Lord for the promise of a son. The classic for me was him cooling off under a tree after parting ways with his other son, Ishmael. This was after the Lord had told him to listen to his wife to send Ishmael away, only to hear the Lord’s voice again. I couldn’t help but laugh to see his reaction when he heard the Lord’s voice again. It was like hearing His voice seemed dreadful to him; “What are You going to put me through this time? HAVE I NOT SHOWN YOU ENOUGH FAITH AND OBEDIENCE?” and I like that the narrator said Abraham had learnt that to be chosen by God is a blessing and a test. He must continue to prove his faith again and again. Unfortunately, we always like the blessing but we don’t like the process.

Beloved, it was really interesting to watch all the emotions Abraham went through; the confusion, the frustration; the anxiety and even depression as he waited on the Lord but it all ended in laughter.

The reason I am sharing this story is that, for many of us, we are living this out in reality. This is the season when many people start getting depressed because they feel that there’s no hope in sight but let’s remember that like our feature text says, Abraham had no reason to keep hoping. His wife even tried to talk him out of it but he kept hearing the Lord’s voice and so kept on hoping… And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained [in the birth of Isaac as a pledge of what was to come] what God had promised him (Hebrews 6:15 AMP).

Beloved, hope, which is a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen, is a crucial step in the process of receiving from God because we have to hope for something in order to apply faith; faith being… the confidence that WHAT WE HOPE FOR WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1 NLT). For Abraham, he couldn’t see any human reason for hope but he did not give up. He kept on expecting and it was wonderful to see the expression on his face as he finally held that promise in his hands.

Beloved, if the Lord is speaking to you today, don’t dread His voice. ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST. It is my prayer that the Lord will visit you and meet all your expectations and… crown the year with a bountiful harvest (Psalm 65:11 NLT).
