The Lord said to Moses… GO UP TO THIS LAND THAT FLOWS WITH MILK AND HONEY. BUT I WILL NOT TRAVEL AMONG YOU, for you are a stubborn and rebellious people… Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. (Exodus 33:3, 15 NLT)

Beloved, unfortunately, today, we live in a world where many have opted for this. Somehow, we’ve become too desperate to have the good things of life that we don’t care if the Lord is in it; just give me the blessing and I’ll be fine but I like that Moses protested. He was on God’s case until God changed His mind… The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” Then Moses said, “IF YOU DON’T PERSONALLY GO WITH US, DON’T MAKE US LEAVE THIS PLACE. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? FOR YOUR PRESENCE AMONG US SETS YOUR PEOPLE AND ME APART FROM ALL OTHER PEOPLE ON THE EARTH.” (Exodus 33:15-16 NLT)

Beloved, what’s the point? What do we do with the blessing if the blesser (if there’s any word like that) is not present?

I remember listening to a famous gospel artist and worship leader say that they longed for those days when they first started. Sitting inside their kitchen, they would play their keyboard and worship for hours and the presence of the Lord would fill the whole kitchen. Then it was just them, their keyboard and the presence of the Lord and it was an awesome experience. However, when they got a big stage; a typical land flowing with milk and honey, the experience was no longer the same like it was in their kitchen. They went on to say that people were intrigued by their stage lights and wonderful presentation but you could get that in any music concert. WHAT SETS US APART from the people of the world is the presence of the Lord.

Beloved, hearing things like this should immediately make one cry out to the Lord saying “please don’t send me where You won’t follow. Don’t let me get to the stage where I am operating without your presence; where You just sit back and watch me glorify myself”.

The Bible says… The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and He adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22 NLT) and many of us have experienced sorrow and no rest from some so-called blessings mainly because the Lord wasn’t in it. However, Moses was smart enough to recognise that it was the presence of the Lord that made all the difference.

Beloved, in the same way, let’s also cry out like Moses did. “Lord… If it is true that You look favorably on me, let me know Your ways so I may understand You more fully and continue to enjoy Your favor… (Exodus 33:13 NLT) …show me Your glorious presence” (Exodus 33:18 NLT).

God bless you in Jesus Christ name
