“Now then, just as the Lord promised, He has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time He said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as He said.” ‎(Joshua 14:10-12 NIV)

Beloved, I remember listening to someone share about how they were rebuked for saying they were getting old. Someone had asked how they were doing and in response they said… “I’m doing good but I’m getting old”. However, immediately they said that, they were told to erase that narrative from their mind. Apparently, they were in their mid-fifties and this person that asked how they were doing was in their eighties and the reason they said to erase that narrative from their mind was because they said that every good break that they had happened after they were 65 which means that age isn’t a limitation.

ERASE THAT NARRATIVE FROM YOUR MIND!!!

This made me think of Caleb. Many of us are plagued with the ‘I am getting old’ syndrome and that’s why we have things like mid-life crisis syndrome but I like that the Bible points us to role models like Caleb who at the age of 85 had a very different mind-set… I am still as strong today… I’m just as vigorous… Lord helping me, I will drive them out…

‎Beloved, are you feeling like there’s no more hope for you because you think your best days are behind you? Well, where’s your fighting spirit? It’s about what the Lord says you can do and His ability to restore you and help you redeem time ‎but you have to be willing to get up and go after it.

We know about Job who received restoration… double for his trouble and I like the sub-heading my Bible gives that portion of his story; CONCLUSION: THE LORD BLESSES JOB… So the Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. For now he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 teams of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys (Job 42:12 NLT).

The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts… (Joel 2:25 NLT). However, you can’t hold on to the past and try to take hold of the future as well? So, which one would you let go?

God bless you in Jesus Christ name
