Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it (Habakkuk 2:2 NKJV).

Beloved, Adam and Eve got into trouble because they didn’t obey the Lord’s instruction and when we read the story, we find that no one wanted to take responsibility for their actions. Adam felt he got into trouble because of the woman the Lord gave Him. He told the Lord… “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.” (Genesis 3:12 NLT). However, when… the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.” (Genesis 3:13 NLT)

Beloved, they both played the blame game and as I read their story, I couldn’t help but ask whether Eve told it like she was told by Adam? We are told that… the serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” (Genesis 3:1-3 NLT)

Beloved, what did God say to Adam (because he was the one given the instructions) and what did Adam say to Eve? This is where our feature text comes in. Beloved, leaders go to God to be given the vision for their families, businesses, ministries etc. and they are meant to capture and convey that vision clearly so that others can read, understand and run with it. The New Living Translation of our feature text says… Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. The Message Translation says… Write it out in big block letters…

Beloved, any good leader would tell you that this is a very important step because you would be held accountable for the vision. We find that the Lord didn’t accept Adams excuse… And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it (Genesis 3:17 NLT) and that’s why your vision must be plain. One of the things I learnt when I was working is to ask for feedback after every meeting so we know everybody is on the same page. We even take it a step further by sending an email to say this is what we discussed. That way you are sure that you were understood and can clarify if you need to do so.

Beloved, have you got a vision for the people you are leading? Is it written down? Is it clearly understood?

God bless you in Jesus Christ name
