31. July 2016 · Comments Off on ASK FOR YOUR JOY TO BE RESTORED‏ · Categories: Jesus Christ, Joy, Salvation

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me… Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit (Psalm 51:10-12 AMP).

Beloved, are you at that place where you watch everybody so full of joy but it feels so different for you. Perhaps, for one reason or the other, it feels like the weight of the whole world is on your shoulder and you just can’t find anything to be joyful about. Well, you don’t have to remain that way. You can do something about it.

I remember watching my daughter once and seeing how she was so full of joy, it made me almost jealous of her because I wasn’t just in the mood that day but I began to ask myself; “what’s happening here?” This is how we should always be. Does it mean she didn’t have anything she was dealing with? I bet the answer was no but she was still joyful. As I watched my daughter so full of joy, our feature text came to mind… Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit…

You have got to get to that point where you tell God something is not right here. I need you to help restore back to me what I’m missing.

The other scripture that also came to mind was… Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3 NKJV). As I meditated on this text, I began to picture joy as a bucket‎ or jar and without it, you can’t partake of the goodness that comes with our salvation package. The Message translation actually says… Joyfully you’ll pull up buckets of water from the wells of salvation. However, if you don’t have joy, there’s nothing to fetch with

Beloved, one thing I have observed is that the devil just comes and throws all sort of things at us and we tend to think we can’t do anything about it. He says “be sad” and we are like “okay, I am going to be sad. He comes and says “cry” and we are like “okay I’ll cry. How long do you want me to cry for?” but that’s rubbish. You have got to be intentional about taking a hold of all that your salvation has been made available so that the… thief who has come to steal, kill and destroy… (John 10:10) ‎ does not steal it from you.

Beloved… the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17 NKJV). Do you need your joy to be restored? Go get you some Ron Kenoly’s ‘Righteousness, Peace and Joy (in the Holy Ghost)’ old gospel tune and dance to it all week as you ask the Lord to restore your joy.

Beloved… Be full of joy [Rejoice] in the Lord always. I will say again, be full of joy [rejoice] (Philippians 4:4 EXB).

30. July 2016 · Comments Off on MOVING FROM THE PLACE OF DESPAIR TO EMBRACING GOD’S WISDOM‏‏ · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Trusting God, Wisdom

…Before the ages began, God graciously decided to use His wisdom for our glory. This wisdom has not been grasped by the ruling powers of this age; if they had understood, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory (1 Corinthians 2:7-8 VOICE).

Beloved, have you ever questioned God’s wisdom? Perhaps, you are going through something devastating right now and you just can’t understand what God is up to? Well, He is always up to something even when we can’t understand it.

Referring to the conversation Jesus had with the disciples on the road to Emmaus‎ (Luke 24:13-35), I read a book (Healing the Eight Stages of Life) where the writers said “the despairing disciples began by talking about the tragic death of their friend whom they had counted on to be the Messiah. The disciple’s attitude was “don’t talk to us about God’s wisdom. We haven’t seen much of it in the death of our friend. JESUS SIMPLY SHARED FROM THE SCRIPTURE AND SHOWED HOW EVEN THE EXPERIENCE OF THEIR FRIEND’S DEATH WAS TO BE LIFE-GIVING, PART OF THE WISE PLAN THAT GOD HAD FOR THEIR LIVES””.

It took Jesus to make sense of it. I remember a friend and I sharing of how it would be so great to just sit down and hear the Lord make sense of our experiences. Something along the lines of… “this is why that happened and this is why this had to happened… and more importantly, where do we go from here?” This is exactly, what Jesus did to this disciplines. He opened the Scriptures and started explaining to them that His death was a part of God’s plan all along and they must have been like “I get it now. Lord, You are indeed the wise master planner. You had it all planned out all along and even when the enemy thought he was winning, our feature text tells us that he soon realised that he got played big time.

‎Beloved, we have got to get to the point where we move from despair to embracing God’s wisdom. Joseph told his brothers… even though you intended to harm me, God intended it only for good, and through me, He preserved the lives of countless people, as He is still doing today (Genesis 50:20 VOICE). When Joseph was going through his ordeal, he had no idea that things would turn out the way they did in the end but he finally got to that place where he embraced God’s wisdom. You too need to do the same even when it doesn’t make sense.

According to my bible notes “One can agree with all the truths in the Bible and still miss the power of God… [which]… cannot be fully grasped by our eight-pound brains. We must approach God humbly as creations, not as those aspiring to fully explain the Creator of the universe.

Beloved… Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT).

29. July 2016 · Comments Off on THE POINT THE LORD BEGINS TO TURN THINGS AROUND‏ · Categories: Action, Choices, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Repentance, Restoration

We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful WHEN WE LOVE HIM AND ACCEPT HIS INVITATION TO LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS PLAN (Romans 8:28 VOICE).

Beloved, one of my favourite songs that makes me dance like King David danced is a praise song that originated from Africa that goes along the lines of… “I can see everything turning around… everything turning around for my good”.

As I was reading our feature text, this was the song that came to mind. This is also one of my favourite verses and whenever anyone asks me to sign a copy of my book, I just write Romans 8:28 and then sign underneath it because it’s a text that summarizes my life’s story.

I have observed that a lot of people also like this text because it basically lets us know that God can take whatever we’ve been through; both the good, the bad and ugly, and make is work in our favour. However, what caught my attention about this text was the bit in this particular translation that says… WHEN WE LOVE HIM AND ACCEPT HIS INVITATION TO LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS PLAN…

There has got to be a point we decide to turn away from whatever it is that we are involved in‎ and accept God’s invitation to live according to His plan and purpose for our lives. That’s the point when things start to turn around for us and not when we go on in our rebellious ways, doing things outside His will. The text also says… WHEN WE LOVE HIM‎… and ‎we show we love God when we obey Him.

Don’t get me wrong, things will still work for your good because nothing you’ve been through will be wasted. There’s something called transferable skills‎ where you take the same set of skills you learn in one profession and apply it in another profession. We see this example with Moses. Everything he learnt in the wilderness looking after his father-in-law’s sheep was the same skills he used in leading the Israelites through the wilderness.

Beloved, things will always work out for your good but perhaps God is waiting for the time you decide to start to do it His way‎ and that’s your choice. ‎

“So what’s God’s will for my life” some people will ask? Well, turn around first and then devote yourself to praying with the help of the Holy Spirit because like the Scriptures says… We are weak and do not know how to pray, so the Spirit steps in and articulates prayers for us with groaning too profound for words. Don’t you know that He who pursues and explores the human heart intimately knows the Spirit’s mind because HE PLEADS TO GOD FOR HIS SAINTS TO ALIGN THEIR LIVES WITH THE WILL OF GOD? (Romans 8:26-27 VOICE)

Beloved, turn around and then devote yourself to praying with the help of the Holy Spirit …

28. July 2016 · Comments Off on RESETTING YOUR MIND‏-SET · Categories: Deliverance, Jesus Christ, Mind, Peace

…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2 NLT).

Beloved, recently, I was asked to speak about mind-sets and the ability for people to break out of negative mind-sets that has given them a negative self-image, has kept them bound by fear or the control of people, their past, society’s expectations etc.

As I meditated on this topic, the first thing that came to mind was that at some point in our lives, we all need to ask the question; “Why do I think the way I think?” That got me thinking of the meaning of ‘mind-set’ which is simply a person’s way of thinking. That is… your mind has been set to think in a particular way.

Unfortunately, the devil knows the power of our beginnings because that’s our foundation and the Bible says; If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3 KJV). The devil knows how important our foundation is so he tries to use certain situations or the things people said to us early in life to set our minds to think in a certain, negative way and unfortunately, as scripture says… as he thinks in his heart, so is he… (Proverbs 23:7). It doesn’t take long before you become what your thoughts give birth to.

Beloved, many go through life thinking and acting in certain ways and have no clue why but there has got to come a time in life when you begin to question every negative mind-set you have; why do I think this way?

I’ve seen it happen to quite a few people this year where they get that ‘aha moment’; that moment where you say “I’ve finally tracked you down’ and one of ‎the things I tell people is that the first step of deliverance in your mind is understanding what set your mind to think negatively. Just like the Lord said… “Let there be light,” and there was light… (Genesis 1:3 NLT).

The Greek word for light used here is ‘Photismos’ and one of its meaning is ‘illumination’ which means light that comes into a room…. that shines on your darkness. It also means knowledge or understanding… and it is on that basis that you can now start to do something about what has been revealed.

In our feature text, we are told to renew our minds and Paul goes on to tell us how to think. He says… dear brothers and sisters… Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:8 NLT).

Beloved, Paul was saying that by focusing on His teachings, you would find that your mind is being renewed and that you are at peace.

Do you need to reset your mind-set?

27. July 2016 · Comments Off on IT’S A THICK LAYER TO BREAK THROUGH · Categories: Anointing, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Sacrifice, Spiritual Growth, Trusting God, Worship

Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon… While He was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard. SHE BROKE OPEN THE JAR and poured the perfume over His head (Mark 14:3 NLT).

Beloved, the whole of last week, I focused on the story of this woman breaking her Alabaster jar because it was what the Lord was speaking to me about as I prepared for a women’s conference that week.

I was one of several speakers to minister and I thought I had done the text justice but then, there was something another speaker shared on the topic that gave me some new revelation. She said she once saw an Alabaster jar in a museum and contrary to the picture we have in our minds, the jar was made of marble. So, this means that when you picture this woman breaking her Alabaster jar, you’ve got to firstly picture that it took a lot of strength and effort to break it and secondly, it didn’t break in one go. She must have kept at it, smashing it repeatedly until it broke to pieces. There must have been many layers to break through. Immediately she said that, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue listening to her because the Holy Spirit immediately started expounding what she was saying.

Beloved, have you ever asked the Lord “how much more breaking do I have to go through?” I received the answer to that question and immediately started to see many layers to be broken so that the Lord can get pure worship and service out of us.

Just I had imagined, in another session, another speaker started ministering directly to me saying that there’s still more layers to be broken off me in order for me to function properly in the mantle on my life and I honestly wanted to ask; “can you please explain exactly what you mean by broken? Are we talking layers of fat here?” LOL. She went on to tell the host that there was a reason why the Lord asked her to send for me because the event was for me.

‎Beloved, I didn’t know whether to be happy or cry. When I later told my friend what happened, she said “Amen! More Lord… we want more” but I had to ask “more brokenness???”

I went on to search for images of an alabaster jar and yes, I definitely saw some marble jars. I then decided to do a word study on the word ‘broke’ used in our feature text and it comes from the Greek word ‘suntribó’ which means to ‘break by crushing, break in pieces, shatter, crush, bruise’. It is also associated with another word ‘tribos’ which means a worn path, beaten way, road, highway and it figuratively means the “route” established by the Lord, where people can best know Him.

“How much more breaking do I have to go through?”

Beloved, perhaps yours is also a thick layer to break through. Meditate on 2 Corinthians 12:8-10

26. July 2016 · Comments Off on ‏TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE FACTS OF YOUR SITUATION‏ · Categories: God's Plan, Hope, Jesus Christ, Patience, Perseverance, Praise, Promise, Trusting God

His faith did not fail, ALTHOUGH HE WAS WELL AWARE THAT his impotent body, after nearly 100 years, was as good as dead and that Sarah’s womb, too, was dead. In spite of all this, his faith in God’s promise did not falter. In fact, his faith grew as he gave glory to God because he was supremely confident that God could deliver on His promise (Romans 4:19-21 VOICE).

Beloved, whenever you are presented with an impossible situation, this is always one portion of scripture to keep in front of you because if Abraham was fully aware of the impossible situation that himself and his wife faced, and he still found it in him to believe what God promised which is that he would be the father of many nation, then it proves that truly nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37)

And I love that God honoured his faith because God rewards great faith (Hebrews 11:6). Abraham was fully aware of the facts presented before Him but he made a conscious decision to take his focus of the facts and place it on the God who made the promises because he probably knew very well that ‎once you focus on the facts and meditate on it, you are no longer giving your faith a chance to work‎.

Beloved… faith proceeds from hearing, as we listen to the message about God’s Anointed (Romans 10:17 VOICE)… not ‎by hearing the word of your situation.

The other point to note here is that like someone said, faith comes by hearing and not just reading and this is why you have to keep meditating on the promises of God for your situation until it speaks to you. That’s when you get impregnated by the word and in no time, you are sure to give birth to your promise.

The opposite of this position is to lose hope because once you lose hope, you have nothing to stand on because as we know‎… Faith is the assurance of THINGS YOU HAVE HOPED FOR, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen (Hebrews 11:1 VOICE).

Thinking of the Shunammite woman, she told Elisha… “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” (2 Kings 4:16 NLT). What she was telling Elisha was don’t get my hopes up only for me to be disappointed. She was so afraid of getting her hopes up and then being disappointed but she needed to hope again.

Beloved, what are your eyes fixed on? Have you looked at your situation and lost hope based on what you see? Remember… hope does not involve what we already have or see. For who goes around hoping for what he already has? But if we wait expectantly for things we have never seen, then we hope with true perseverance and eager anticipation (Romans 8:24-25 VOICE).

TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE FACTS OF YOUR SITUATION and just continue to wait on the Lord, praising your way through.

… After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising Him for His holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; His faithful love endures forever!” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves (2 Chronicles 20:21-22 NLT).

Beloved, I attended an event recently and one of the things I took away from the event was something one of the speakers said which was that we should “Posture ourselves to praise hard‏ in this season” because when we find that all of a sudden we lose the zeal to praise God, we tend to say “I’m down. I don’t feel like praising” but it’s not you. It’s the devil who knows it’s your season to break forth, so he launches an attack. ‎ What he is trying to do is bind your praise so he sends forces to intentionally stop your praise because there are some battles that invites the presence of God through your praise.

Beloved, there are certain crossovers that need the presence of God to go before us and since… He inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3), we can’t afford to be down. When the time came for the Israelites to cross the Jordan… Joshua and all the Israelites… arrived at the banks of the Jordan River, where they camped before crossing. Three days later the Israelite officers went through the camp, giving these instructions to the people: “When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them (Joshua 3:1-3 NLT). The Ark of the Covenant‎ represented the presence of God and He had to go ahead of the Israelites.

The speaker went on to say that… when you are coming to a cross over, there are 3 things you must do; firstly, ask the Lord for the desire to praise Him. Secondly, ask for the discipline to sustain yourself and then thirdly, though there are times when our praise is a sacrifice (Hebrews 13:15), however, we must ask for help to turn it into a delight.

There’s a song that immediately came to my spirit… ‘In Jesus name’ by Darlene Zschech with lyrics that says… God is fighting for us… God is on our side… He has overcome… Yes, He has overcome… We will not be shaken… We will not be moved… God is fighting for us… Pushing back the darkness… Lighting up the Kingdom… That cannot be shaken… In the Name of Jesus… Enemy’s defeated… And we will shout it out… Shout it out.

Beloved, SHOUT IT OUT… You can’t cross over with a dodgy mind-set else the devil will get you. He will try to tell you that despite everything you had to go through, it’s not happening but don’t listen to him. Put praises ahead of you. ‎Posture yourself in high praise. Ask the Lord to give you an undivided heart to praise Him. Dig into it. Make your praise uncommon.

24. July 2016 · Comments Off on WHEN PEOPLE CAN’T SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING · Categories: Endurance, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Patience

I tell you the truth: unless a grain of wheat is planted in the ground and dies, it remains a solitary seed. But when it is planted, it produces in death a great harvest (John 12:24 VOICE).

Beloved, a friend was telling me about someone that was a bit concerned that the people that used to support her were nowhere to be found and so I said it’s a very normal reaction. When people can’t see anything happening with you, when they think you are dead, they disappear in every direction because they think there’s no more hope with this one. This is what happened to Jesus. When they arrested and killed Him, all His disciples disappeared. “Where’s Peter, your main man?” Oh, he denied You three times. Not just that, he turned your disciples in the opposite direction… Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said, “And we are coming with you.” So they went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing (John 21:3 AMP).

Unfortunately, while they interpreted what had happened to be death, they had no idea that Jesus was only planted so that He could reproduce a great harvest. He told His disciples in our feature text that… unless a grain of wheat is planted in the ground and dies, it remains a solitary seed. But when it is planted, it produces in death a great harvest…

Unfortunately, the disciples didn’t understand this and so when Jesus was crucified and buried, they went back to their fishing jobs but they caught nothing. It took the same Jesus to come back up from the ground to give them direction on how to catch the fish they were toiling for… He said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it (John 21:6 NLT).

Beloved, I know how frustrating it is when people can’t see what God is up to in your life. It can also be a very lonely journey but hang in there and complete the process because… that is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets (1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NLT).

It’s all about timing. I once heard someone say that the same orange when unripe, tastes terrible in peoples mouth but that same orange if given time to ripen, taste sweet in peoples mouth so even when you’ve started to produce and are still wondering why the hold up; “why is the Lord still holding me back?” Perhaps, it’s because He is waiting for you to get ripe so you don’t leave a bitter taste in people’s mouths.

Just be patient. Remember… No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined…

Some of those at the table were indignant. “Why waste such expensive perfume?” they asked. “It could have been sold for a year’s wages and the money given to the poor!” So they scolded her harshly. But Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to me? You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me. She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time. I TELL YOU THE TRUTH, WHEREVER THE GOOD NEWS IS PREACHED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THIS WOMAN’S DEED WILL BE REMEMBERED AND DISCUSSED.” (Mark 14: 4-9 NLT)

Beloved, I hope I haven’t managed to bore you the whole of this week but finally, we are taking a look at the reward of this woman whose actions caught the attention of Jesus and today, we are looking at it from the response that Jesus gave to the naysayers in the gospel according to Mark.

Mary in this story probably had no idea at the time she made a decision to do what she did that it had great significance and I bet she must have been very surprised at Jesus’ response. She had no idea the impact her sacrifice and worship was to have on Jesus but not just Him, there’s also the impact for the future generations to come and this is something we are still talking about today.

This tells us that what we are willing to do today could have impact on the future generations and whenever something has such a great impact on the future, it normally costs the one making the sacrifice.

People that end up making history would always tell you that there was a big price to pay but let’s hear what else Jesus had to say. He said… she has done what she could‎. Beloved, we are back to the matter of the heart again. Jesus was more or less saying I know the effort she had to put in to go do what she did and she did it with her whole heart.

Beloved, have you ever found yourself saying I did what I had to do? It’s a case where you know that desperate times call for desperate measures.

It was a costly sacrifice but it paid off and because her motives where right, her sacrifice wasn’t contaminated. It was all about bringing about the will of God to come to pass and ultimately advancing the kingdom ‎of God.

Beloved, is this what giving attention to? Why not begin to make your worship time be more about asking the Lord for His plans for your future… for the future of your children… for the future of the next generation… and whatever He impresses on your heart to do, do it.

Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance (John 12:3 NLT).

Beloved, for this woman to do what she did, she must have been contemplating about it for a while but then one day, she made up her mind that today was the day. No more delay and right now, I’m even thinking of Esther. Mordecai put her up for the greatest challenge of her life and as she was coming up with excuses, he said to her… if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” (Esther 4:14 AMP)

It was Esther’s moment to act. She had to make up her mind that day and what did she do?… Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” (Esther 4:15-16 NLT)

Beloved, there has got to be a day that you make up your mind and say today is the day. For many people that make history, it took one decision made on a particular day to turn things around for them.

For Mary, it was her breakthrough day. It was a day she broke from the ordinary into the extraordinary. It was the day she decided to break through from worry into true worship. It was the day where she had to say “I don’t care about my reputation and how I look in front of people”. I must do what I need to do to catch Jesus’ attention and there has got to be a day when we too say I’m willing to make that decision.

However, one of the things that the Bible warns against is a double minded person who… is unstable in all his ways (James 1:8 KJV).

This is someone that makes up their mind one day but changes it the next day and then, changes it again the next day. Their mind is everywhere. For me, once I’m led by God to do anything, I immediately commit myself before fear and doubt takes a hold of me.

Beloved, don’t be double-minded and unstable in your ways‎. If you need to ask the Lord for wisdom and direction, then do so and He is sure to give you a leading. After all, the Bible says… The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, and He delights in his way [and blesses his path] (Psalm 37:23 AMP).
