…“I’m not letting up—I’m standing my ground. My complaint is legitimate. God has no right to treat me like this—it isn’t fair! If I knew where on earth to find Him, I’d go straight to Him. I’d lay my case before Him face-to-face, give Him all my arguments firsthand. I’d find out exactly what He’s thinking, discover what’s going on in His head. Do you think He’d dismiss me or bully me? No, He’d take me seriously. He’d see a straight-living man standing before Him; my Judge would acquit me for good of all charges (Job 23:1-7 MSG)‎.

Can you imagine the nerves and boldness of Job???? LOL… I’m sure Job would probably tell Eugene H. Peterson who wrote the Message Bible that it wasn’t that bad. However, before I started reading the Bible for myself, I used to hear the story of Job like he just took what came to him like a man but then, as I personally read through the chapters of Job, I found that that wasn’t the case. Can you imagine him saying… If only I knew where to find God, I would go to His court. I would lay out my case and present my arguments (Job 23: 3-4 NLT).

LOL… I know you’ve never done anything like that before. However, I remember someone telling the story of when they were going through the most challenging period of their life; how they had to bring out three chairs; one for God the Father; one for Jesus the Son and the other for the Holy Spirit. “Okay, seat down and listen to me because I need to tell you what’s on my mind”. They went ahead to inform the Lord of all their self-righteousness and how they’ve faithfully served Him all their life. They said when they finished pouring ‎out their heart, they felt good about it‎ even though the Lord didn’t answer them. It was only much later that the Lord spoke.

Do you feel like getting it off your chest? Many times, we internalise what we are feeling because we fear it’s unholy to express it to God and as a result, many harbor deep-rooted anger, resentment and bitterness.

Hmmm… Now, please know that the Lord may not answer you straightaway and like Job, you may never ever get the answer you want but I have every assurance that God listens and I like that after venting like that, Job came to his senses and said… But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold (Job23:10 NKJV).

Unfortunately, there are some things that we experience that we can’t make head or tail of but just know that nothing takes God by surprise… In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation (1 Peter 5:10 NLT).

God bless you

This was one of my first write-ups back in the early days of ‘What is God up to?’ and I just feel led to share it again.

When the Lord builds a hedge of protection around your life, what does this really mean? To Job, it meant that satan could only work within limits permitted by God… And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; ONLY DO NOT LAY A HAND ON HIS PERSON.” (Job 1:12 NKJV) and when satan came again, the Lord said the same thing… And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, BUT SPARE HIS LIFE.” (Job 2:6 NKJV)

That was Job but what does it mean to me? To Ruky it means;

At 3 years old, when I was involved in a motor bike accident and broke the bones in my right leg, the Lord said to satan, you can’t take her life; you can’t even stop her from walking again.
At 22, when I was involved in a ghastly motor accident and almost everybody died, the Lord said to satan, you can’t take her life; I have placed a hedge of protection around her life.
At 24, when I was involved in a fire incident with no room to escape, the Lord said to satan, you can’t take her life, I have placed a hedge of protection around her life.
At 34, when I had a blood clot in my lungs (a silent killer that goes unnoticed until it strikes), the Lord said to satan, you can’t take her life; I have placed a hedge of protection around her life.

Hmmm…The enemy still fights to see if he can get around that hedge of protection on a daily basis but the Lord keeps reminding me that that no weapon formed against me shall prosper.

Perhaps you too need to hear this today… No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV). I love the way ‎the Message Translation says it… no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged…

Just know that… many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalm 34:19 NKJV).

The Lord continue to protect us from the plans of the enemy far more than we can ever imagine. He is always one step above the enemy. Like the Bible says… When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19).

Don’t live your life in fear. Be rest assured… YOU HAVE A HEDGE OF PROTECTION AROUND YOUR LIFE.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1 NKJV).

God bless you

Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm… (Job 38:1 NIV)

I wonder how Job must have felt to finally hear the Lord speak to his situation. Out of nowhere this brother was hit with a series of calamities. His wife couldn’t understand it so she spoke whatever came out of her mouth. He couldn’t understand it so he too spoke whatever came out of his mouth and when I read some of the things he said I laugh and say I couldn’t have said it better myself. You may think your situation is unique to you but just pick up your Bible and you would see that there’s nothing that you are feeling or have felt that the great men recorded in the Bible didn’t feel… Abraham… Moses… Job… David and even Jesus…

History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NLT).

Anyhow, Job’s very supportive friends (NOT) couldn’t understand it either so they too took it in turns to speak whatever came out of their mouth and God allowed them to use their vocabulary very well. But finally, one day the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm… What this says to me is that it does not matter what the situation is, God has placed an expiry date on it. The Lord spoke; He told Job what to do and there was a double restoration for Job. I read this and immediately started praying… Lord I’m tired of trying to making sense of every situation in my life… please speak and silence every other voice… the one going on in my head, the ones from my accusers… every voice. Just speak even if like Job it is to tell me… “Who is this that questions My wisdom with such ignorant words? (Job 38:2 NLT).

I agree Sir, I am ignorant. Job said… “I am nothing—how could I ever find the answers? I will cover my mouth with my hand. I have said too much already. I have nothing more to say.” (Job 40:4-5 NLT). Please I’m sorry Sir; just bring this madness to an end. Am I speaking for somebody?

Dear friend, I don’t know what the people around you have been saying or what questions you may have but know that the Lord has the final say… In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation (1 Peter 5:10 NLT).

May this be your testimony in the mighty name of Jesus Christ… Amen

27. September 2015 · Comments Off on PURSUING INTIMACY WITH GOD‏ · Categories: Anointing, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Prayer, Relationship, Worship

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place… (Matthew 6:6 NKJV).

During our meeting last week, one of the guest ministers said something that caught my attention. Speaking on intimacy with God, they asked; “as a married person, would you practice intimacy with your spouse in a room full of people?” Hmmm… that made me think and as I was looking for a Scripture to back it up, one of my mentee’s sent me the following about our feature text.

They said “Studying this scripture, I learnt that the secret place Jesus is talking about is not really your physical room. The secret place is your relationship with God; your devoted heart to God and Him only. What God wants is not a religion but a relationship with man. This relationship is cultivated on the altar of prayer where you commune with God”.

I read it and had to ask for permission to use because they were able to articulate what I had been reflecting on during the week.

Hmmm… Many of us have a public relationship with God but once we’ve left church/ Social Media that’s it and reflecting on this based on my own relationships with people, the only relationships I consider as relationships are with those few people that I relate with regularly and I now struggle to define those ones I no longer hear from or only speak to occasionally because let’s face it; not that anything happened, it’s just that we hardly communicate. You hardly know what’s going on with me and vice versa. That has definitely affected our relationship and like we usually say “we’ve just drifted apart”.

Now, if that can affect our earthly relationships, what about our relationship with God. Yes, He continues to know everything about us but that’s one-sided. We know very little about Him and the little we know is hearsay; what we’ve heard other people say about Him. That’s no relationship.

The other thing that the speaker said was that “ANOINTING DRAWS PEOPLE CLOSE TO YOU BUT INTIMACY DRAWS GOD CLOSE TO YOU”. So, which do you prefer? Many people’s relationship with the Lord is just to fuel their anointing so they can perform for others/resolve other people’s problems but that’s so different from intimacy with Him. If every time you are in the bedroom with your husband and all he keeps hearing is give me feeding or the children’s school fees money, how do you think he would feel?

Hmmm… When you hear some of us praying in public, it’s like thunder but behind closed doors, our relationship is empty. The key ingredient of a relationship is missing. You can’t even be naked before God however, intimacy is ‘In-To-Me-See’.

Many have a very superficial relationship with the Lord but He is desiring more and asking that it’s time we pursue a more intimate relationship with Him.

God bless you

26. September 2015 · Comments Off on WHY AM I BEING TEMPTED LIKE THIS? · Categories: God's Plan, Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Power and Authority, Trusting God

Everybody goes through trials and temptations. But then there are periods when they come all at once. You are barely out of one and then another one hits you. You feel like you are in a boxing match; blows coming from everywhere. At such times, no matter how much you know about the word of God, you can’t make sense of anything. You can hardly find comfort in anything or anyone because you feel like you are the first person to go through this. It’s at such times you ask “what’s really happening?

Maybe this can help. Jesus came to John the Baptist to be baptised… When He had been baptized… behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.” (Matthew 3:16-17 NKJV)

THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED is validation/endorsement from God. God put his STAMP OF APPROVAL on Jesus. But then what happens next… Jesus was led up BY THE SPIRIT into the wilderness TO BE TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL… Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God… (Matthew 4:1 NKJV)

Satan came with the “If You are the son of God questions…” Have you been through some trials that make you question who you are as a Christian? You say “maybe I’m not really born again or maybe it’s payback for my past.

Maybe????… That’s the devil talking. He asked Jesus this question twice and every time Jesus answered and said, “IT IS WRITTEN”…

That’s why we need to know what is written. That shuts the devil up. Seeing that Jesus knew His identity and couldn’t be tempted in that area, he then tried to buy Jesus over. This time not with the ‘If you are the Son of God’ tactic but more like… OK, we both know that You know who You are but let’s negotiate. Let me buy You over…

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “AWAY WITH YOU, Satan! FOR IT IS WRITTEN, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” (Matthew 4:8-10 NKJV).

There are numerous trials we will face as Christians and ESPECIALLY when you have a calling on your life. It was the Spirit that led Jesus into the wilderness because it was part of the preparation for His calling. Jesus passed because He knew His identity and was able to put Satan in his rightful position… “AWAY WITH YOU, Satan”.

So, for whatever you are currently facing, don’t settle, compromise or give in/up. You too should be able to say… AWAY WITH YOU, Satan! I know who I am… FOR IT IS WRITTEN…

God bless you

25. September 2015 · Comments Off on IS JESUS REALLY REIGNING IN YOUR LIFE? · Categories: Fruit of the Spirit, God's Plan, Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Joy, Peace, Prayer, Relationship, Salvation, Thanks giving

Are you really acknowledging God’s rule over your life? Are you really experiencing peace and joy in your life?

[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT (Romans 14:17 AMP).

Is your mind always troubled over stuff? You know how to talk the Christian talk, know what is right from wrong and can put on a show in public to make it seem like you’ve got it all together but behind closed doors, its tears, tears and more tears. You are always worried and anxious over the things going on around you; the things nobody else knows you are going through. You are saved no doubt but IS JESUS REALLY REIGNING IN YOUR LIFE?

Where’s your peace? Where’s your joy? I like how the Message translation put it… God’s kingdom isn’t a matter of what you put in your stomach, for goodness’ sake. IT’S WHAT GOD DOES WITH YOUR LIFE AS HE SETS IT RIGHT, PUTS IT TOGETHER, AND COMPLETES IT WITH JOY.

Are you waiting for everything to be perfect before you experience real peace and joy? Didn’t they say true joy isn’t based on what is happening around you but from the Holy Spirit that flows from within you? I don’t think Jesus promised that everything would be smooth. In fact, He made sure He prepared the minds of His disciples. Jesus said… I have told you all this so that you may have PEACE in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)

The storms of life happens to the just and the unjust but what differentiates the just from the unjust is the peace and joy that reigns over their life while going through the storm; the kind of peace that Jesus gives that the world cannot understand. You’ve been given a solution for handling the storms of life… Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s PEACE, which exceeds anything we can understand. His PEACE will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).

If you are struggling with experiencing real joy, why not ask the Lord today to… restore to you the joy of your salvation (Psalm 51:12) and see Him anoint you afresh with the oil of joy and gladness.

God bless you

… And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” (Esther 4:14 AMP)

As I was reading the book of Esther again, some fresh revelation came to light; Mordecai and Queen Esther had some unfinished business to resolve in their family lineage.

Firstly, Haman who passionately hated Mordecai was an Amalekite. We are told that… King Xerxes [Ahasuerus] honored [promoted; made great] Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite [A DESCENDANT OF KING AGAG OF THE AMALEKITES, THE HATED ENEMIES OF ISRAEL (WHICH SAUL FAILED TO ERADICATE)… (Esther 3:1 EXB).

Hmmm… The Amalekites were long-time enemies of the Lord and His people. Moses told the Israelites… Remember what the Amalekites did to you when you came out of Egypt. When you were tired and worn out, they met you on the road and attacked [picked off] all those lagging… They were not afraid of God. When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land He is giving you… as your own…, you shall destroy [blot/wipe out] any memory of the Amalekites… Do not forget [SAUL FORGOT, but the Amalekites (called Agagites) come to an end in the book of Esther (Esth. 3:1)]! (Deuteronomy 25:17-19 EXB)

It so happened that Mordecai (and Queen Esther) were descendants of Saul‎. This translation says… Now there was a Jew in the palace of Susa whose name was Mordecai son of Jair. Jair was the son of Shimei, the son of Kish [THESE ARE RELATIVES OF SAUL, SHOWING THAT MORDECAI WAS HIS DESCENDANT]. Mordecai was from the tribe of Benjamin (Esther 2:5 EXB). The Lord had asked Saul to put an end to the Amalekites. Samuel told Saul… This is what the Lord… has declared: I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt. Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation….” (1 Samuel 15:2-3 NLT) but… Saul and his men spared Agag’s life (1 Samuel 15:9 NLT). As a result, the Amalekites appeared again to burn David’s home town, Ziklag to the ground and carry off their women and children and though David managed to kill many of them, some escaped (1 Samuel 30:17).

However, Esther’s time came and with the help of Mordecai, she put an end to that family devil.

I said all this to say that there are some people that the Lord has raised to end long time family battles; that demon that has been attacking your family from generation to generation. This past weekend, as I watched a friend I hadn’t seen since 1989 minister, it came so strongly in my spirit that the Lord is truly raising generals that would finish the work He’s been trying to accomplish in families.

Could you be one of them? If so, why not ask the Lord to position you to put to an end to what your predecessors failed to destroy?

God bless you

…do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised (Hebrews10.35-36 NLT).

Have you noticed that when you receive a fresh word from the Lord concerning His will for your life that you receive it with all confidence? Your expectations are very high. You hold on to the word you received expecting to see the manifestation almost immediately; give and take a few days because it doesn’t always help when we are flooded those messages that say 24/48hrs or 3/7days to see your breakthrough. Off course, if the Lord has specifically said so then it’s bound to happen in that timeframe but the point I am trying to make is that as a result of these time based messages, we have this expectation and confidence that whatever‎ the Lord has promised would happen almost immediately. However, what do you do when 7 days goes by and then days turn into months and then years and nothing happens?

Hmmm…. Your confidence starts to drop until if not careful, you become like the Shunammite Woman who said, please, please, please, don’t just deceive me like that. Elisha told her…. “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!” (2 Kings 4:16 NKJV) Hmmm… That’s because… Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12 NKJV).

However, I was telling someone recently that ‎there’s a long road that those that have had mind blowing testimonies of the manifestation of the great promises of the Lord sometimes have to walk down and that road is called ‘PATIENT ENDURANCE’ road.

Trust me when I tell you that there would be a million and one signs on that road inviting you to cut corners or give up and go back because there’s got to be something else that’s easier and less painful than waiting on the Lord’s will for your life but please don’t give up your confident trust in the Lord because there’s great reward ahead of you. Remember the Lord… is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV).

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.

Be confident in the fact that that word that the Lord has spoken concerning you is going to happen… The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8 NKJV).

God bless you

22. September 2015 · Comments Off on DON’T FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR DOCTOR‏ · Categories: Healing, Love, Relationship

Women [Daughters] of Jerusalem‎, promise [I adjure you] not to awaken ‎or excite [arouse] love ‎until it is ready […likely a warning to the women to wait for love until the right person comes along‎]. ‎Who is this coming out of the desert [wilderness‎],‎leaning on her lover?‎… (Song of Solomon 8:4-5 EXB)

Recently, I was listening to a Christian woman on a talk show who had recently come out of a long term, abusive relationship and in just 3 weeks started dating this new fella, got married to him after 2 months and now 5 months into the marriage (yes, 5 months and not years), with no valid reason, is filing for a divorce. She kept on asking him… “why did you do this to me?” And as she repeated the question, the host echoed what I was thinking… “but what did he do to you?” It was only after much probing that she came out with it.

Apparently, according to her, ‎no one had ever treated her as nice as he did… “no one has ever said the right words to me like he does”, she said. That was when the host said… “I see what this is all about. You’ve made the typical mistake that we warn women against… You don’t fall in love with your doctor”.

Hmmm… your doctor is there to treat your wounds but because of the gentleness and the care with which he attends to your scars, some start to develop deep feelings for them which in many cases is one sided and leaves one worst off. In her‎ case, after spending 5 months with him, she realised that she fell in love with a fantasy.

It just so happened that at the same time of hearing her story, I came across our feature verse and I absolutely love how the above translation goes on to say… Who is this coming out of the desert [wilderness‎], leaning on her lover?‎… As if to say, you’ve just come out of the wilderness and agreed, you are thirsty for love and affection but don’t be in such a hurry to quench your thirst. You need time to heal properly and be whole rather than leaning on a man for affection in an unhealthy way. Someone is bound to get hurt.

In this case, the guy was the victim. The host turned to him and with much pity said…”I’m so sorry you got caught up in this mess”.‎ There were tears rolling down his cheeks. It was painful to find that he got cut up in her mess.

Now, I know this isn’t probably want you are expecting to read but this is real life guys‎ and this message is from one woman to all the other women out there (and may I add guys)… promise not to awaken or excite [arouse] love ‎until it is ready…

Get intimate‎ with your First Love and when He knows you are whole and ready, He would bring the right one your way.

God bless you

21. September 2015 · Comments Off on DON’T LISTEN TO THAT VOICE THAT SAYS THERE’S NO USE · Categories: Faith, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Trusting God

Our Christian walk is one where we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). This means that if anything at all, your faith should increase as the evidence you see decreases and not the other way round. The Message translation says… It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. So is the fact that all evidence of what you are hoping for has disappeared keeping you going stronger in faith or has that voice overshadowed your mind; telling you that there’s no point… you shouldn’t bother anymore… that situation is dead and buried.

Jesus was interrupted by a lady in need while on His way to solve another man’s problem… While He was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told Him, “Your daughter is dead. THERE’S NO USE TROUBLING THE TEACHER NOW.” But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “DON’T BE AFRAID. JUST HAVE FAITH.” (Mark 5:35-36 NLT)

There are many messengers from the enemy telling you the same thing right now. They say it’s over… case closed but that’s lost hope. There’s no faith in that and without faith it is impossible to please God. Jesus has overheard those voices and wants you to…JUST HAVE FAITH.

Here’s something Jesus did that you too need to do… Then JESUS STOPPED THE CROWD AND WOULDN’T LET ANYONE GO WITH HIM EXCEPT PETER, JAMES, AND JOHN (THE BROTHER OF JAMES). When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” The crowd laughed at him. BUT HE MADE THEM ALL LEAVE… (Mark 5:37-40 NLT)

On your journey of faith, there are some negative people and voices that can’t come along with you. For the kind of thing that Jesus wants to do in your life, get rid of the people laughing at you. Only those that can keep the faith alive are the ones that can come along. For everyone else… MAKE THEM ALL LEAVE… and that includes the voices in your head.

At this time, what you need to do is to be surrounded by the word of God because faith comes by hearing. Read your Bible, replay those messages and prophecies, be persistent in prayer, in praise and in worship and as you do so I pray that like the case of Jairus’ daughter, to your amazement, you would experience what you’ve been hoping for immediately stand up and walk.

God bless you
