And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them (Romans 8:28 NLT).

Many have had dreams and received very many great revelations of the person God has called them to be and have waited and waited but nothing seems to be happening. In fact, everything you have experienced so far seems the exact opposite of the revelations you received and you have probably concluded that it’s never going to happen. However, by the special grace of God, in just a few hours, we would be entering 2015 and it is my prayer that 2015 would be the year that you will see how things (both the good, the bad and the ugly) have been working together for your good. It is the year that you would finally have a ‘Joseph moment’.

Joseph was someone that had a dream of how his brothers would bow down before him but rather than see his dream happen, he went on a roller coaster journey; from PIT to SLAVERY to PRISION. While in prison, I’m sure his dream was the last thing on his mind but then, things changed drastically for him and he was catapulted to the palace. His brothers then came searching for food and… since Joseph was governor of all Egypt and in charge of selling grain to all the people, it was to him that his brothers came. When they arrived, they bowed before him with their faces to the ground (Genesis 42:6 NLT).

Really? With everything that had gone by, who would have thought Joseph would ever see this day? He was 17 when he had the dream and so at 30, he must have forgotten about it. However, seeing them bow in front of him like that… JOSEPH REMEMBERED THE DREAMS HE HAD DREAMED ABOUT THEM (Genesis 42:9 AMP). A lot must have flashed through his mind at that moment; he suddenly was able to put two and two together. It all made sense…

Oh… now I see why I went through what I went through… There’s no need apologising bro… As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive, as they are this day (Genesis 50:20 AMP)

Isn’t God great? Like I said, it is indeed my prayer that 2015 would be the year that you see how all your life’s experience; from childhood to present day has been working out for your good. Yes, the enemies may have thought they’ve had the upper hand but it would be the year that you would thank every enemy (known and unknown) when you see how God makes the same things function for your good.

God bless you

Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine (1 Samuel 17:38-40 NIV).

The term “Out of the box” is an expression that describes nonconformal, creative thinking. It is derived from a famous puzzle in which someone is presented with nine dots in a grid/box pattern and told to join them all using only four straight lines without the pencil leaving the paper. At first, it seems an impossible task to achieve but that’s because you have allowed the boundaries of the nine dots to restrict you. However, the only way it can be achieved is to think outside those boundaries. This means one would have to extend the lines beyond the artificial boundary created by the nine dots (Please see attached diagram).

Hmmm… Where am I going with this? Personally, I believe one of the greatest deliverance we Christians need is not necessary deliverance from the devil but breaking out of our boxed thinking… this is how we are to do things but that’s mainly tradition which the Bible says makes the word of God of no effect (Mark 7:13)

I’ve been thinking of David who had to take a bold decision to tackle a problem a different way from how others had been doing it. Nobody had done it that way before so it could have been seen as a major risk but if David had limited himself to thinking only within the boundaries of a coat of armor and a bronze helmet, he probably wouldn’t have won the battle against Goliath.

Can we really box God? Can we really say this is definitely how God works? Personally, I have themed my 2015 ‘the year of risk taking’ which simply means “yes I know this is not how we usually do things but I’m prepared to take a risk with God because I want to see where He leads me”. This is with emphasis on the phrase ‘WHERE HE LEADS ME’ because most times we are too focused on going in the direction of the straight square boundaries of the nine dots whereas the Lord wants to take us through a zigzag route.

And now as I conclude, this has definitely got to be the Holy Spirit speaking because like a friend once said… I know that it’s the Holy Spirit speaking because I’m not clever enough to come up with this kind of stuff… LOL

God bless you

[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight (Philippians 2:13 AMP).

I have come to realise that there are some prayers you shouldn’t make if you are not ready for it because God really does answer prayers and there are some prayers that He answers quicker than others. One of such prayers is when you pray something along the lines of… Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm139:23-24 NIV).

I tell you… don’t say this prayer if you really don’t mean it because when you make such prayers, all of a sudden, the lights flash on you and you start to see hidden spots and wrinkles. The Lord actually starts to show you all the stuff you never even imagined still existed inside of you… the murmuring and complaining, the doubting, the stubbornness and the hardening of your heart, the pride, resentment… you name it. You are then left thinking oh my God; what’s all this? You then start to feel unworthy and become like Simon Peter who… fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord (Luke 5:8). But the Lord is saying it’s not time to quit.

Hmmm… So where do I even start from? I know that it’s almost a new year. I would have to make some New Year resolutions. As if to say once its 12 midnight, something would automatically switch in our brains and we would then start to act differently. I hate to say that it doesn’t really work like that. We have been doing that for years and it hasn’t really gotten us anywhere… only about 5 days of faithfulness and then 360 of guilt because we haven’t been able to stick to our plan to change. But that’s because we have been trying to do things in our own strength. However, I have been meditating on this for a few days now and have decided that it is only God that can bring about the desired change and that’s when the above Scripture came to mind.

It’s time to allow the Spirit of the Lord that lives inside of you to go to work so why not join me for the remaining days of the year and beyond to make this humble prayer;

Lord… Since you are the One who works in me to will and to act in order to fulfill Your good purpose… please WORK IN ME…Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me into a level country and into the land of uprightness (Psalm 143:10 AMP).

God bless you

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).

We’ve only a few days left to go and by the special grace of God, we would be in 2015. While we may not know what the year holds for us, it is very important that you leave some things behind else you would be stuck between two seasons and can’t really move forward. You need to understand that God is a moving God so please don’t get stuck in the past. He knows the things that have happened to you and wants you to know that it’s not the end. People come and go but His plan continues…

He said to Joshua… “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them (Joshua 1:2 NLT).

He said to Samuel… “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king” (1 Samuel 16:1 NLT).

Why are you crying over who or what the Lord has rejected for you? If God didn’t want you to have it then trust me you don’t want it/him/her. If He says NO then don’t get stuck behind that closed door. Move on and see what He has planned. After David’s adultery, He prayed and fasted for the child to stay alive but it didn’t work. However, David was quick to let go and… then David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and slept with her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon. The Lord loved the child (2 Samuel 12:24 NLT). That child happened to be King Solomon.

As Jesus ascended into heaven, His disciples didn’t know what to do without Him in their midst so they stood there staring into empty space… As they strained to see Him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday He will return from heaven in the same way you saw Him go!” (Acts 1:10-11 NLT)

It’s not the end. The Lord’s plan continues but some of us are bent on standing behind a closed door. However, God wants you to let go and move on to see the door that is open in front of you. Stop being bitter and angry over what has happened. Move on and see what’s ahead. As you do so, I pray you run into exceedingly, abundantly above all that you can ever ask or think in 2015.

God bless you

27. December 2014 · Comments Off on A WORD FOR YOU HUSBANDS · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Marriage, Prayer, Relationship, Self Control

On Christmas day, I watched a movie involving a very rich, uneducated, married man who thought he was God’s gift to women. He used to cheat on his wife and actually boasted about the fact that he didn’t sleep with a women twice. He also took delight in praises about his performance from these very cheap girls… as if that made him a real man.

However, one day his wife did the cleverest thing ever. While in a hotel, using the spare keys, she came and drove off with his car and you should have seen how he lied about being attacked by a gang of armed robbers. From that day on, all he kept on saying was “my 10 million” which apparently was how much he bought the car. So one day, his wife confessed that she took the car and was willing to settle for ‘8 million’ if he wanted it back.

This man was shocked and very mad but I respected him because he didn’t lay a finger on her. Things got really intense and I was convinced he was going to descend on her but he didn’t. I kept on saying “won’t you calm down woman” but she wouldn’t budge. There was even a time he threatened to show her who the man was in the house if she didn’t return the car by the next day and I thought she was definitely going to get it but she didn’t.

He came home one day to find a man ready to pay cash for the car. That was when he knew she meant it when she said… “every time you disrespect this marriage, you would pay for it”. He couldn’t believe it when he transferred the money into her account. Can you imagine paying for the same car twice? But this was rather than beat her into submission because she was weaker.

For me, that was what made him a man; not his manhood or money. Unfortunately, a number of men, even when guilty would find ways to bully their wives but with all the drama going on, this woman felt very safe in her own home.

The funny thing is that last Christmas; I watched a similar movie where the husband beat his wife to death. As he was beating her, she kept on running her mouth and I remember saying… “won’t you shut up”. I then told my mum that I bet this is how some women provoke their husbands but honestly… nothing should warrant a woman being beaten.

I’ve struggled to write this post. I started last night but posted something else. However, the Lord would not let me be. He sometimes speaks to me in the most strangest ways because last year, as I was watching the other movie, it was happening to someone in real life so perhaps this is for someone out there…

…you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should SO YOUR PRAYERS WILL NOT BE HINDERED (1 Peter 3:7 NLT).

… SO YOUR PRAYERS WILL NOT BE HINDERED… That’s a word for your 2015

God bless you

26. December 2014 · Comments Off on WHAT’S SIGNS ARE YOU LOOKING OUT FOR? · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Promise

For a Child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end… (Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT)

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, government … After reading this, I’m sure you would expect to see royalty treatment. Drum roll… earth quakes or everything spectacular that you can ever imagine but if you understand how the Lord works then you should know that you are in for a surprise… For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord! AND THIS WILL BE A SIGN FOR YOU [by which you will recognize Him]: you will find [after searching] A BABY WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES AND LYING IN A MANGER (Luke 2:11-12 AMP).

A BABY WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES AND LYING IN A MANGER???? Are you sure you are not mistaking this baby for someone us? How can this be a Saviour… Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace???

Most times when the Lord makes us great promises, we tend to look out for great signs but I wish I could say He works like that. Here you go; here’s what I said would happen all wrapped up in gold and silver. Wouldn’t that be great? But he does always work that way. Rather, He takes you on a journey which does not look anything like it would land you at the destination He has promised. And if you are not careful you would miss out on what He is doing because your life would be filled with such pain and disappointment.

Instead of questioning the way the Lord chose to introduce Jesus, the angels were joined by a vast host of the armies of heaven who then burst into praise (Luke 2:13-14). And the shepherds too; they went in search of Jesus and found Him based on the sign they were given… After seeing Him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished… The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them (Luke 2:17-20 NLT).

What signs are you looking out for? Don’t you know that the Lord uses…things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful (1 Corinthians 1:27 NLT).

Why not be like the angels, the Shepherds and the people and rejoice and praise God despite the signs you can see right now.

God bless you

24. December 2014 · Comments Off on DON’T FORGET THE CELEBRANT · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Relationship, Salvation

Have you ever heard of a party where the celebrant is not invited? A party were gifts are exchanged and nothing is given to the celebrant? A party that is celebrated in every venue other than the house of the celebrant? That’s what the world has turned Christmas to be…For many, it’s all about gifts and santa clause coming to town…Sadly, it’s not just the world…many Christian’s as well…

A lot of people save huge amounts of money all year round just so they can go all out to make this season a special one. A lot of people go in to huge debts for the same reason. A lot of people risk their life’s traveling up and down the world to be with their loved ones but where is He that first loved you?

Today is the 24th of December, people would be running up and down doing last minute preparations… the hair dressing salons would be full today… “I’m going to paint the town red today” people would say. Tonight would be the busiest season for the clubs… Hmmm… I wonder how the celebrant feels about this?

However, let’s stop and think for a moment… For unto us a Child is born, unto us A SON IS GIVEN; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV).

A SON IS GIVEN… and here’s the reason why a Son was given… For God so loved the world THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM should NOT PERISH but have EVERLASTING LIFE (John 3:16 NKJV).

The birth of Jesus is worth celebrating but let your celebration reflect that you and your loved ones truly have EVERLASTING LIFE… For the wages of sin is death, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD (Romans 6:23 NKJV).

As you exchange gifts this Christmas… please ask yourself this sincere question… have I got the GIFT OF GOD? Have my loved ones got the GIFT OF GOD?

If Jesus is the reason for the season, PLEASE DON’T MAKE THIS A PARTY WITHOUT THE CELEBRANT. Make Him truly welcome into your home and hearts.

Merry Christmas

God bless you

Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water… (Genesis 21:19 NIV).

For our Meeting by the well’s 1st anniversary on Saturday, God took us from the small lecture room where we first started to the Chapel and so I decided to get worship team together. Initially, when I went to check the chapel out, I had asked if I could use their equipment but I was told that they lock the cupboard where all the controls are and it would cost me more. I wasn’t sure I could afford it but I still asked how much. However, the lady said I should ask the business manager whom I couldn’t get hold of so I decided to take equipment from my church back home.

I also wanted the number of the site manager just in case I had any problems in the venue but again, I was referred to the business manager and when I didn’t hear anything by the end of Thursday, I woke up on Friday morning worried. What if I can’t get in on Saturday? What if the venue is too cold? I wanted to drive down to the venue but had to be at home to receive an important delivery. However, as all this thoughts were flooding through my mind, I received an email from the business manager with the site manager’s number.

She went on to say she wasn’t up to date as to how I was getting in to the building so I said I was told my student pass should let me in but needed her to confirm. I also told her about my concerns around the heating. She came back to say my pass was fine and that there was a thermostat on the wall in lecture room.

Lecture room? No, it’s the Chapel. She came back apologising and said that they’ll leave the cupboard open for me. I didn’t quite catch on but come Saturday morning; you needed to have seen me struggling to take all the equipment to the venue. Everybody that was to help me got delayed and all I kept complaining to God was that I can’t do this on my own. It was a real struggle for me and just as I had dragged the last of the equipment, the guys to play for me started showing up so I asked them to start setting up.

However, you won’t believe that they came back to say; “Aunty, we don’t need any of your equipment. This stuff here is even better”. Instead of my keyboard and electric drums, they had a piano and proper drums. They had left everything for me to use FOR FREE and the cupboard was indeed open. So why was I struggling? I looked up and said… Lord so all this time, You were just watching me and probably wondering; when would this my child see the door of favour I have opened for her?

The praise and worship turned out amazing but to be honest, I could hardly move my body to enjoy it because I was so worn out.

Hmmm… I said all this just to make one point; are you struggling to see the doors of favour open before you? If so why not ask the Lord to open your eyes.

God bless you

22. December 2014 · Comments Off on DON’T BE ANGRY AT THE LORD’S MERCY · Categories: Anger, Forgive, God's Plan, Grace, Jesus Christ, Mercy, Repentance, Salvation

And the Lord said… I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion (Exodus 33:19 NIV).

I’ve been reflecting on Jonah’s anger at the Lord’s compassion and the one question that comes to mind is how would you feel if the Lord were to send you with a message of mercy and compassion to someone who has done something very wrong to you and you really want Him to deal with them? Think about it for a moment.

Jonah goes to Nineveh, the great menace to Israel to warn them of the Lord’s judgement because of their evil ways and despite his disapproval, he must have preached a really good and heart felt sermon because the people repented and… when God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, He relented and did not bring on them the destruction He had threatened (Jonah 3:10 NIV).

The Lord showed them mercy. If it were you, how would you feel about that? …To Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.” (Jonah 4:1-3 NIV)

“ISN’T THIS WHAT I SAID, LORD, WHEN I WAS STILL AT HOME?…. THAT IS WHAT I TRIED TO FORESTALL…

First of all, we only know of how the fish swallowed Jonah when he tried to go in a different direction to Tarshish but we do not know what the Lord must have done to get him out of his country in the first place. He was one stubborn guy so I’m guessing just like He did with the fish; the Lord must have found a way to get him out of his country. However, my point of focus is on the fact that He tried to prevent the Lord from showing mercy. I can’t think of another reason why he would do this except of course Jonah’s jealousy of his people’s favoured relationship with God and perhaps there was some evil lurking in his own heart but the Lord still decided to show mercy and compassion on him and his people by calling them His own.

What about you? How are you doing with your heart inspection? Is your heart like Jonah’s?

Do you know that if you expect the Lord to be merciful to you, then you must also show mercy? Jesus said… Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy (Matthew 5:7 NIV).

God bless you
