Why do bees like to hang around palm trees?

I had to ask Deborah, the great judge and prophet (Judges 4:4) this question today and this is what she said;

The flowers on the palm tree attract bees because they get their nectar from the it which is what it uses to make its honey. The height of the palm tree is especially attractive to the bee because from that height it’s hard for any one trying to get rid of it to reach it. I don’t want any disturbance. I like to suck on my nectar in peace.

Why ask Deborah? Deborah’s name is translated as ‘Bee’. She said I’m known to break the record as the great prophet and only female judge of Israel; a mother of Israel, a woman that the military leader refused to go to war except I came with him. However, the secret to my success was in my location.

Judges 4:5 (Amp) says – She sat under the palm tree of Deborah between RAMAH and BETHEL in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment.

Deborah’s positioning was key to her ability to be used by God in such a mighty way. She sat under the palm tree. Consider the height of a palm tree and how Deborah, symbolic for a ‘bee’ would have to go higher to get the nectar needed from the flowers of the palm tree.

RAMAH means ‘height’ or ‘high place’. BETHEL was around the place where Abraham built an altar to the Lord and Jacob also built an altar to the Lord and named it Bethel meaning ‘House of God’

Ephraim is symbolic for fruitfulness. Joseph called his second son Ephraim [to be fruitful], For [he said] God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction (Genesis 41:52 AMP).

These words are meant to make sense to somebody. The Lord is not asking you to be a bee (LOL). I believe He wants you to come higher. There you would find the answers to what you’ve been looking for.

Deborah was very fruitful in her ministry because of the great height she climbed with the Lord.

Psalm 92:12-13 (NIV) says – The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; PLANTED IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. For whoever this is, I pray that as you heed to the Lord’s calling to come higher, you will flourish and prosper like nothing you’ve ever seen before. This and much more i pray in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…Amen

God bless you

I was listening to John Maxwell, the leadership guru speak in a conference over the weekend and he said if Joseph were to give one advise to everyone that God has given a dream, it would be…DON’T GIVE UP on your dream even if it didn’t start well or isn’t going well at the moment.

He said Joseph had a lot more ‘GIVE UP’ than ‘GO ON’ moments. This caught my attention because though we’ve heard it all before, listing them out gives you a clearer picture and drives home the message. So I tried to put myself in Joseph’s shoes and see how long I would have been able to hang in there. Joseph had the following moments;

Misunderstood by his family… GIVE UP?
Thrown into pit by his brothers… GIVE UP?
Sold into slavery by his brothers… GIVE UP?
Living in a strange country far from home… GIVE UP?
Given favour in Potiphar’s house… GO ON!
Wrongly accused by Potiphar’s wife… GIVE UP?
Thrown in to prison… GIVE UP?
Made keeper of prison… GO ON!
Forgotten by the chief butler… GIVE UP?
Remained in prison for 2 more years… GIVE UP?
Interpreted Pharaoh’s dream…GO ON!

That’s 8 reasons to ‘GIVE UP’ and only 3 to ‘GO ON’ with the first 4 being ‘GIVE UP’ moments but Joseph made a choice to believe God and ‘GO ON’ until he became second in command of Egypt.

I really think this should be turned into some kind of ‘Holding on to your dream’ matrix to determine how one would do because Proverbs 24:10 says… If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

For me, being misunderstood by my family and then sold into slavery by my siblings who almost killed me, living in a strange land far away from them would have been a big GO ON because I wouldn’t want to be near anyone that could do that to me. But trust me; by the time I land in prison, I would have given up and accepted my fate. Maybe I didn’t hear clearly from God. Maybe it’s these prisoners that the Lord showed me would bow to me. In fact by the time I’m told Pharaoh wants to see me, I would pray and fast that something happens so I don’t get to go because just look at my track record… this can only mean one thing in the end… more trouble.

Have you ever been in a position when you are thinking… OK Lord thank you for the dream but I don’t want any of this anymore because it’s causing me so much pain? I’ll rather remain in a safe place. But like John Maxwell said, the dream is free but the journey isn’t free and your passion has to be greater than any opposition to keep you going.

I believe the Lord gives godly passions because at one point, Jeremiah must have felt like giving up but he said…if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in His name, His word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it! (Jeremiah 20:9 NLT)

Is your strength small? Are you about to faint? Don’t give up. Joseph was about 17 years old when he dreamt but he realised his dream at 30. Each time he experienced a ‘GIVE UP’ moment, the Lord must have renewed his strength… those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power (Isaiah 40:31 AMP)

Today, I pray that the Lord renews your strength as you make the decision not to ‘GIVE UP’ and may you see your dream come to pass in due season…in Jesus mighty name…Amen

God bless you

Have you ever thought to yourself… Lord, I’ve read all the mighty things you did in the Bible; I’ve also heard of great testimonies You’ve done in the lives of people but what about me? I keep hearing prophesies of all these great things about my life and I’m thinking why is it not happening? You are not alone. Gideon once felt like that.

Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. The angel of the LORD appeared to him and said, “MIGHTY HERO, THE LORD IS WITH YOU!” (Judges 6:11-12 NLT)

Who? Me? I’m sure Gideon must have looked behind himself to see if the angel was referring to someone else. Other translations call him MIGHTY MAN OF VALOUR… MIGHTY WARRIOR… but how can a mighty warrior be hiding at the bottom of a winepress? The New English Translation says COURAGEOUS WARRIOR… Really? Are you being sarcastic? Have you come here to laugh at me?

THE LORD IS WITH ME…Really? Are you sure? Because from where I’m standing…sorry I mean hiding… it just doesn’t feel like it. The Lord seems very far away. …Gideon said to him, “Pardon me, BUT IF THE LORD IS WITH US, WHY HAS SUCH DISASTER OVERTAKEN US? Where are all His miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said, ‘Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.” (Judges 6:13 NET)

Gideon had heard of how the Lord had delivered the Isrealites from bondage. He had heard of all the great miracles but what about me and my family? Why have you abandoned us?

In spite of all we know of God’s faithfulness, when it comes down to it, because of all the hardship we’ve been through, we secretly wonder if God still cares; if He still intervenes in situations.

Yes He does. So WHAT’S STANDING IN MY WAY? We get a clue from the full text. His people did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They worshiped other gods.

Gideon was called a MIGHTY… COURAGEOUS WARRIOR. He was called to deliver Israel from the power of the Midianites but before anything… that night the Lord said to him, “…PULL DOWN YOUR FATHER’S BAAL ALTAR… Then BUILD AN ALTAR FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD on the top of this stronghold according to the PROPER PATTERN…(Judges 6:25-26 NET)

There are things holding people back from manifesting in the dimension the Lord have called them. Stop doubting that THE LORD IS WITH YOU. It’s just that you’ve got to wage war against those things that has been operating in your family generation. You’ve got to pull down the altars that have been erected. But not just pulling them down. You’ve got to replace them with the Lord’s altar.

Some of you have been called to stand in the gap for your family. The Lord has probably been showing you signs here and there to this effect. You must start by presenting yourself to God as a living sacrifice in the PROPER PATTERN. Changes in your lifestyle is the example that your family would see that would bring great deliverance. Also, there has to be a separation where you devote your time to the things of God and trust me, the devil would use your family to make you feel guilty…You are not there for me like you should be. Don’t worry just tell them it’s the cross Jesus has asked me to carry. They would soon see the results.

Dear Lord, for as many that have been called to stand in the gap for their families to pull down everything STANDING IN THEIR WAY, please stand with them just like you promised Gideon You would be with him…This I pray in the matchless name of Jesus Christ…Amen

God bless you

Do you know God knows exactly who you are, what you do, where you are and what’s in your heart?

The word UNDISPUTED means something that’s undeniable; unquestionable or unchallenged; None can argue against it because it’ so clear. This was the case when God chose David and rejected his brothers.

Samuel, tell the people you want to make a sacrifice to the Lord…Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I WILL SHOW YOU WHICH OF HIS SONS TO ANOINT FOR ME (1 Samuel 16:3 NLT).

All seven of Jesse’s sons that were used to being in the limelight got prepared and publicly they… were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “THE LORD HAS NOT CHOSEN ANY OF THESE.” (1 Samuel 16:10 NLT)

You can’t dispute it. Didn’t everybody see it? You all stood before the Lord and He said A BIG NO. He said, I know you people look at outward appearances but I see their hearts.

Samuel then says… Daddy, no disrespect…I’m not trying to question whether you know how many sons you have but you must have another son and we will not sit down to eat until we see him. So Daddy sends for David and when he arrives the Lord said…“THIS IS THE ONE; ANOINT HIM.” So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on… (1 Samuel 16:12-13).

THIS IS THE ONE; ANOINT HIM…The Lord rejects all 7 sons in front of everybody and then they witness as he anoints David. None of them can argue.

As if that wasn’t enough, God says I’ll show you another reason why you can’t dispute my choice.

A huge giant challenges God’s people… give me a man, that we may fight together (1 Samuel 17:10 AMP) and he…came out morning and evening, presenting himself for FORTY DAYS (1 Samuel 17:16 AMP) to see if anyone would stand up to the challenge.

Now, the number 40 in the Bible symbolises a period of testing or proving. During this period, neither King Saul, David’s brothers nor did any man in Israel step forward to challenge Goliath and It just so happened that after the 40 days of waiting to see if anyone could man up to the challenge, Daddy sends David to the battle ground….Take food to your brothers. Coincidence?

As he arrives on the scene…Behold, Goliath, the champion, the Philistine of Gath, came forth from the Philistine ranks and spoke the same words as before, and David heard him. And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, terrified (1 Samuel 17:23-24 AMP).

We know the story. David volunteered to fight for God’s people and though Saul told him, he wasn’t able to take on Goliath, he kill Goliath in front of everyone to see. Now I’m sure people would say wow…the Lord did not make a mistake with His choice.

What am I trying to say? The Lord knows how to publicly announce those He approves. This was the same with Jesus….When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.” (Matthew 3:17)

Reflection Time: If today God were to show people who you really are, would it be a stamp of approval?

God bless you

An orphan/adopted child becomes queen. In a state of drunken madness, King Xerxes wanted to parade his queen… He wanted the nobles and all the other men to gaze on her beauty, for she was a very beautiful woman. But when they conveyed the king’s order to Queen Vashti, she refused to come. This made the king furious, and he burned with anger (Esther 1:11-12 NLT).

This queen said NO…I’m not your toy. Good on her but that was the end of her because the king felt ‘how dare you disrespect me in front of my crew’. She was banished forever and what was a result of other peoples stupidity became part of God’s grand design for Esther.

Esther was placed in Hegai’s care… He quickly ordered a special menu for her and provided her with BEAUTY TREATMENTS. He also assigned her seven maids specially chosen from the king’s palace, and he moved her and her maids into the best place in the harem… She was given the prescribed twelve months of BEAUTY TREATMENTS—six months with oil of myrrh, followed by six months with special perfumes and ointments… Choice of whatever CLOTHING OR JEWELRY she wanted…And the king loved Esther… He was so delighted with her that he set the ROYAL CROWN on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti. (Esther 2:9-17 NLT).

Esther becomes queen and soon we find out why. It wasn’t for the BEAUTY TREATMENTS, the CLOTHING OR JEWELRY or the CROWN. She was called to save God’s people. Mordecai said its time to act… It may very well be that you have achieved royal status for such a time as this! (Esther 4:14 NET) He was right. Esther ends up risking her life, position and all the luxuries to fulfil God’s purpose.

Getting priorities right is very important. There are so many people equipped, gifted or positioned by God for His purpose but somehow self and all the perks get in the way. One of the things Jesus taught His disciples is about remaining grounded…fixing your eyes on the purpose and not on yourself.

When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to Him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes,” He told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; REJOICE BECAUSE YOUR NAMES ARE REGISTERED IN HEAVEN.” (Luke 10:17-20 NLT)

They were rejoicing over authority…power…but Jesus said that’s not what you should be rejoicing about.

On another occasion, they argued about who would be the greatest among them but Jesus told them that this isn’t an opportunity to lord it over people but… those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant (Luke 22:24-26).

What were the motives of the people when they tried to build the Tower of Babel? They said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may MAKE A NAME FOR OURSELVES… (Genesis 11:4 NIV). You would have thought it was because they wanted to be close to God.

The other extreme is trying to please people and this was King Saul’s downfall… Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the LORD’s command, for I was afraid of the people AND DID WHAT THEY DEMANDED (1 Samuel 15:24 NLT).

This wasn’t supposed to be my message for today but God changed it and I’m thinking You are going to make me so unpopular amongst the people but He quickly let me know it’s not about me. Honestly, this is one of the things that scares me about ministry…getting distracted by self-ambitions or by pressure from people to give them what they want and it takes a humble heart to remain grounded. This has always been my prayer…that God gives us the grace to remain true to His purpose.

God bless you

You’ve just got to laugh when you come across some passages in the Bible. It’s consoling though because it makes me realise that there’s nothing I would ever go through or feel that someone else in Bible country hasn’t passed through or felt before.

The Psalmist cries out…O Lord, how long will this go on? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will Your anger burn like fire? REMEMBER HOW SHORT MY LIFE IS…(Psalm 89:46-47 NLT)

REMEMBER HOW SHORT MY LIFE IS… Other translations say…HOW SHORT MY TIME IS… More like…in case you haven’t noticed, time is not on my side. I know what You say about patience and all but how long am I to wait? I’m not like You who lives for forever…. For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours (Psalm 90:4 NLT) but for me…1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8… the clock is ticking… common… what are you waiting for?

Isn’t this what a lot of us are thinking? According to Moses… Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away (Psalm 90:10 NLT).

One of our biggest problem is that we feel time is against us but we need to realise that God is the beginning and the end and we fit somewhere in that time frame. He included you in there for a specific purpose. So He must know when your life started and surely He knows when it would end. He knows what He promised has to happen within your timeline.

You must also know that God never intends to start anything He isn’t intending to finish. Had He not intended to complete it, He won’t have started it so why are you stressing?

Caleb is a good example for us all. He said to Joshua; “You’ll remember what God said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me back at Kadesh Barnea. I was FORTY YEARS OLD when Moses the servant of God sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land… Now look at me: GOD HAS KEPT ME ALIVE, as He promised. It is now forty-five years since God spoke this word to Moses…AND HERE I AM TODAY, EIGHTY-FIVE YEARS OLD! I’M AS STRONG AS I WAS THE DAY MOSES SENT ME OUT. I’m as strong as ever in battle, whether coming or going. So give me this hill country that God promised me… IF GOD GOES WITH ME, I will drive them out, JUST AS GOD SAID.” (Joshua 14:7-12 MSG)

We can see here that Caleb was totally reliant on the God that made the promise…whether I’m 40 or 85 is irrelevant…it’s all about if GOD KEEPS ME ALIVE…IF GOD GOES WITH ME…JUST AS GOD SAID.

And it’s up to Him if He has to stop time as we know He has done before – So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies…(Joshua 10:13 NLT)

Here’s a word for you…Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD?… (Genesis 18:13-14 NIV)

Please know that God is not on your clock. Rather, you are on His clock. He is the One that has plans for you and He that began a good work in your life is faithful to complete it. That is off course if you are living according to His will and purpose for your life. That’s the real question. Are you?

I pray that we are able to align ourselves with the Lord’s will and purpose for our lives and that we trust that He will certainly finish what He Himself started in our lives even if He has to stop time.

God bless you

These eyes of mine have seen some tears. Go on, you can look at my picture again. LOL…and you actually did. Those eyes you see… they’ve seen very many tears.

People always tell me about my smile and smiling back at them, I’m thinking…if only you knew the tears hiding behind that smile. You know you can be around people who think they know you but…each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can fully share its joy (Proverbs 14:10).

I’ve cried so many tears but please don’t feel sorry for me… Psalm 84:5-7 (AMP) says – 5 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are THE HIGHWAYS TO ZION. 6 Passing through the VALLEY OF WEEPING (Baca), they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings. 7 They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; each of them appears before God in Zion.

I said don’t feel sorry for me because I am blessed. I’ve been on THE HIGHWAYS TO ZION which leads to the presence of God. I had in the past tried to find my hope and strength from other sources but they all let me down big time and somehow I managed to find myself before God. I read that no specific valley has been identified as the ‘Valley of Weeping’ so ‘weeping’ represents the times of pain and the tears that people have to go through on their way to finding God. I can honestly say that through my weeping, I found where God is. Yes, I had to pass through some painful experiences but I found Him and had I not gone through that route, it would have been a different story today.

We may not want to admit it, but experiencing the Lord is often preceded by a journey through barren places in our lives. Often times when things are going fine we tend to be far from God. Yes, we may attend church every Sunday but it’s just a religious activity. However, when things happen and you need answers; When people let you down and there’s no one to turn to, you have no choice but to turn to God and that’s a good thing because when you turn to God, the difficulties you face in life turns out to be blessings in disguise.

The New Living Translation says – When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, IT WILL BECOME A PLACE OF REFRESHING SPRINGS… That is; the weeping arising from sorrow turns into REFRESHING SPRINGS. This means when you seek the Lord at such times, your misfortune becomes an opportunity to experience God’s love and faithfulness like never before.

Since I’ve drawn closer to God, I’ve overcome things I never thought I could overcome. I’m stronger and wiser and I’m gradually finding out that the Lord has a message that He wants me to tell the world. Like someone rightly put it the other day…THE MESS, THE MESSIAH and THE MESSAGE.

I’ve said this before; we often waste our pain. All the pain and sorrow you go through should draw you closer to God and as you draw closer, He energizes and renews your spirit. You begin to draw strength from Him and each day sees you going from strength to strength.

If you happen to be walking through your own valley of weeping today, please make sure it leads you towards God and not away from Him. Remember that He promises to care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display His glory (Isaiah 61:3 MSG). May this be your testimony in the mighty name of Jesus Christ…Amen

God bless you

There’s a tendency for people to define you by your past; what they’ve known you as. But don’t you just feel like saying… didn’t you get the memo dear? That’s my old address. If you are looking for me there, I no longer live there. That was then. I’m a new person now. Jesus has forgotten about it and I’m trying to put it all behind me. I wish you would do the same and let me forget my past.

A man named Zacchaeus was a well-known chief tax collector in the region and a very rich one at that. Can we guess where his riches came from?

But then he heard about Jesus and acknowledging that there was something missing in his life, he decides to grab his moment with Jesus; he decides to go higher. The fact that he was short didn’t help matters.

So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. When Jesus came by, He looked up at ZACCHAEUS AND CALLED HIM BY NAME. “Zacchaeus!” He said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today (Luke 19:4-5 NLT).”

To his amazement, Jesus CALLED HIM BY NAME. Wow…He knows my name and He wants to come to my house. Do you know what I’ve been up to? Do you actually want to come to my house? Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy (Luke 19:6 NLT).

But then we hear of ‘THE PEOPLE’. Those that still want to hold him to the past. They won’t let him move forward…But THE PEOPLE were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled (Luke 19:7 NLT). What business does He have getting cozy with this crook? Don’t you know who he is? Don’t you know what he has done? Imagine?

But while grumbling amongst themselves, I like how the New Living translation says… MEANWHILE, ZACCHAEUS STOOD BEFORE THE LORD and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” (Luke 19:8).

While they were gossiping about him, he was busy making amends BEFORE THE LORD …I know my ways are not pleasing to you. I did it when I did not know you but now I’m ready to change.

Do you know that there are some people that still want to call you Jacob while on your own part you’ve STOOD BEFORE THE LORD; you’ve wrestled with Him and He has changed your name to Israel? They still want to call you Saul when Jesus has changed your name to Paul. It’s such a shame because they miss out on what THE NEW YOU has to offer. They still see the worst in you.

Anyway while they were still gossiping amongst themselves, he got saved. Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today…(Luke 19:8 NLT). He’s a new man. End of story.

We all have the tendency to label people by their old nature and I’ve had to remind myself on many occasions that the same way Jesus is working in me to change me is the same way He’s working in others so give them a break.

Are you are a victim of such grumblers? Don’t let people discourage you. Instead of troubling yourself about all the gossip, put all your focus on Jesus and before you know it, people will eventually start to see Jesus when they look at you. You won’t have to defend yourself then.

God bless you

THE PROBLEM IS YOU…JONAH. Stop running from the Lord and go and answer the call.

Do you think you can run from the Lord? Stop putting your family and people around you through pain and answer to the call.

It’s all over the news. There’s so much chaos in the world today and the Lord’s pattern has never changed. He always sends someone ahead with a warning sign. He has sent you but you are running in the opposite direction.

Jonah was sent by the Lord to warn the city of Nineveh because they were in a very bad way and He could not ignore it any longer. But you know what Jonah did. He got up and went the other direction to Tarshish, running away from God. As if you can hide from the Lord. Like King David said…Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there! If I go underground, you’re there! If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute—you’re already there waiting (Psalm 139:7-9 MSG)!

You know Jonah’s story. The Lord sent a huge storm at sea and it disturbed everyone on the ship…Then the sailors said to one another, “Let’s get to the bottom of this. Let’s draw straws to identify the culprit on this ship who’s responsible for this disaster.” So they drew straws. Jonah got the short straw. Then they grilled him: “Confess. Why this disaster? What is your work? Where do you come from? What country? What family?” (Jonah 1:7-8 MSG)

And here’s the question again. Why put the people around you through unnecessary storms because of your disobedience? The storm you are experiencing is not going to be still until you heed to the voice of the Lord and the funny thing is that you may already know it.

Jonah said, “Throw me overboard, into the sea. Then the storm will stop. It’s all my fault. I’m the cause of the storm. Get rid of me and you’ll get rid of the storm (Jonah 1:12 MSG) and immediately they threw him into the raging sea, the storm stopped.

And then there was a huge fish waiting to swallow Jonah. He needed some cooling off period to decide whether he was going to come to his senses.

I don’t know who this is for but if it’s for you, don’t let them throw you out of that country, home or even marriage before you know it’s time to heed the call of the Lord on your life.

Is money your problem? Don’t worry. Jonah got free transportation to where the Lord had sent him as opposed to the fact that he had to pay his own fares when he went off to Tarshish after his own agenda.

Jesus said…The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields (Matthew 9:37-38 NLT).

Today, I pray that all the Jonah’s get to read this message and heed to the Lord’s call and as you do so the Lord will quieten every storm raging against you and provide for your every need as you do His will in the mighty name of Jesus Christ…Amen.

God bless you

Do you know that a lot of people know what the Bible says about what they shouldn’t do? The teachers of religious laws; the Pharisees and sadducees did not let us forget…THOU SHALL NOT steal… THOU SHALL NOT commit fornication…

People know all that and I believe except the devil has seriously blinded their eyes, a lot of people want to change but don’t know how to and this is what is lacking today. People quote scriptures back to you…giving you information without application and I’m thinking…I know I have an issue with anger and I already know what the Bible says. The help I need is how to deal with this problem.

I can only speak from my own life experience and hope it helps make a difference in someone’s life. For many years, I used to be a struggling Christian. When I had real life issues in my marriage, with my children, death in the family and lots more…none of these THOU SHALL NOT ministries were able to help. I remember being so lost and almost gave up on God until I started listening to ministries like Joyce Meyer’s. Then preaching after preaching, she took each aspect of my life… the pain, bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, the sin, the tests… and showed me how Jesus worked in her life to help her overcome and before I knew it…I was introduced to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

No wonder her ministry is so effective. Please none of this is to promote anyone’s ministry. I don’t even listen to Joyce anymore nor do I belong to a mega church but I would always speak the truth about what transformed my life. Now there are other great men of God that I listen to that impact my life. The fruits of which I can testify of. I receive emails from people saying I want to read the Bible but I don’t understand it or I don’t know where to start and my answer is to start from the very beginning. Get a Bible you can understand and start asking the Holy Spirit to teach you. I remember buying a youth Bible a few years ago…no not for my child…for me. I needed understanding.

One of the biggest hindrances Jesus faced in His ministry was the THOU SHALL NOT’S but He had to show them that though they practiced THOU SHALL NOT, their hearts were very far from Him.

The story of the Samaritan woman by the well always amazes me and it’s funny that Jesus’ disciples had the THOU SHALL NOT attitude when they found Him speaking to this lady. She had a true revelation of Jesus only after their conversation resolved questions she had about her reoccurring problems in life, religion, tradition and culture. Immediately, she was able to drop her water pot and went off evangelising (John 4:7-42). This ‘Samaritan woman’s solution is what people need today and not just THOU SHALL NOT.

I’ve recently been in contact with a lady who had been beaten down by life but since I started sharing my experience and how the Lord has been working in my life, you can’t believe her transformation. She’s now back in school and can’t believe how she’s finding back her self-worth in Christ. Before then it was… THOU SHALL NOT

Paul found some disciples in Ephesus and asked if they received the Holy Spirit when they believed but they hadn’t even heard of the Holy Spirit…“Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism of John.” Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus (Acts 19:3-4 NLT).

Paul then baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus and they received the Holy Spirit.

Today, we have a similar scenario. People have repented and accepted Jesus but struggling Christians need to be introduced to the work of the Holy Spirit who can help with their issues and transform them. People need to show others how the Holy Spirit delivered them from that sin; pornography, lust, drugs etc… That is…If Jesus changed me…He can also change you and this is how He did it. I pray that the Lord raises more of such ministers.

God bless you
