A song writer once wrote: ‘Count your blessings and name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done’.

Do you know there are times you think the Lord has bypassed you and you say…”You haven’t come through for me Lord!”…Not until you actually stop and start to count one by one all that He has been doing. Then like the song writer said…it surprises you what the Lord has done. At times, it’s because we do not recognise God’s blessings. We want it one way but God gives it to us in another way. This was the case with the Israelites in the wilderness when they cried out for food. The Lord rained down bread from heaven but Exodus 16:15 (NIV) says – When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “WHAT IS IT?” FOR THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.

Psalm 103:1-2 (AMP) says – 1 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits

The Message translation says – 1-2 O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing!

It’s the last day of 2012. Like the Israelites, are you in a position where you are saying “WHAT IS IT?” How has the Lord blessed me? Do you need somebody like Moses to tell you what it is?

For me, like Daniel, I can confidently say ‘My God sent His angel and shut the lions mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.’ (Daniel 6:22)

What about you? The fact that you are still around today is a reason to bless the Lord. And here’s some more reasons:

Psalm 103:3-5 (MSG) says –
He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in His presence.

BLESS THE LORD…DO NOT FORGET HIS BENEFITS…See you all in the New Year by His special grace. Amen

God bless you

One of my mentors once said, “if you want me to listen to you then say something that keeps me awake all night pondering on what you have said”. I so agree with him. I’ve been on a 3 day church seminar and there were a number of things I heard that has kept me pondering all night.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV) – 18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you POWER TO GET WEALTH, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

The question is what is wealth? We must understand that the true meaning of wealth is not money but an abundance of VALUABLE RESOURCES. In fact, money is only a means to get VALUABLE RESOURCES. Also, what is seen as a VALUABLE RESOURCE varies from individual to individual.

God makes His people wealthy by giving them things that are valuable, important and desired by those in their community. The Bible records this about Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego in Daniel 1:17 (NKJV) – As for these four young men, GOD GAVE THEM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL IN ALL LITERATURE AND WISDOM; and DANIEL HAD UNDERSTANDING IN ALL VISIONS AND DREAMS.

Daniel may not have known how wealthy he was but his gifts brought him before kings…First before king Nebuchanezzar…Daniel 2:24 (NLT) says – Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, “Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of his dream.”

And when he interpreted the dream…Daniel 2:48 (NLT) say – Then the king appointed Daniel to a high position and gave him many valuable gifts. He made Daniel ruler over the whole province of Babylon, as well as chief over all his wise men.

Second before King Belshazzar…The King said in Daniel 5:16-17 (NLT) – I am told that you can give interpretations and solve difficult problems. If you can read these words and tell me their meaning, you will be clothed in purple robes of royal honor, and you will have a gold chain placed around your neck. You will become the third highest ruler in the kingdom.” 17 Daniel answered the king, “Keep your gifts or give them to someone else, but I will tell you what the writing means.

His gift was a VALUABLE RESOURCES that the king was ready to pay loads for. It made me think of Deuteronomy 15:6 in a new light…AND YOU WILL LEND TO MANY NATIONS BUT WILL BORROW FROM NONE. He lent his gifts. We also know about Joseph. He was made Ruler of Egypt for interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams…Genesis 41:40-41 (NLT) says- 40 You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.” 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”

HOW WEALTHY ARE YOU? I have been thinking of this a lot and if you notice, with these men, there was something more than their gifts that brought them before kings. They had a wealth of INTEGRITY. Daniel stood his ground and prayed to his God rather than to the king. Joseph refused to sleep with Potipher’s wife. Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego refused to worship the gold statue. Someone said satan was willing to give Jesus the whole world if only He bowed down to him. Matthew 4:8-9 (NKJV) says – 8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

That was how valuable Jesus’ worship was to satan. What VALUABLE RESOURCE has God given you and how much is satan offering for it. How much is he offering for your worship, your time, your integrity? In Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego the kings repented and worshiped God instead of the other way round

HOW WEALTHY ARE YOU?

HookedSome of us need to forgive. You MUST not carry unforgiveness in to 2013

Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-22 (NKJV) – 19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN.

And it’s for your own good. Do you want your prayers answered? When Jesus was teaching the disciples how to pray, He said in Matthew 6:12 (AMP) – And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors…What we are simply saying here is that God should treat us in the same way we treat others. Actually, you can read about the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18:21-35

One of the greatest lessons I learnt about unforgiveness is that most times we don’t want to forgive because we think we are letting people of the hook unrealising the fact that we are the ones that are hooked. Please see attached picture to get this picture. You forgive for your own good. We’ve heard the saying that unforgiveness is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.

Apart from forgiving people, some of us need to forgive ourselves. As far as you have truely repented and have asked for forginess, God has forgiven you so stop beating yourself up about it and move on.

And this may sound stupid and though He doesn’t really need our forgiveness, some of us need to forgive God. Or let me put it this way, some of us need to humbly come before the throne of our Lord and settle the issues you have with Him. Again, this may sound strange to some very holy people but I for one went through a phase where I blamed God for allowing certain things to happen or not answering some of the things I had been praying for years. The devil painted a picture in my mind that the Lord was not on my side but the devil is a liar. I did exactly what I am saying here and God restored me and reassured me that He is the only one that is really on my side.

Luke 17 adds another dimension to unforgiveness – Luke 17:4-5 (NKJV) says – 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.” 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “INCREASE OUR FAITH.”

INCREASE OUR FAITH…In dealing with unforgiveness, I personally had to work on believing that God will help take care of the situation because the scares will still be there for you to see. People say forgive but don’t forget…I say just ask God to INCREASE OUR FAITH in Him that He will make everything ok……that you would stop hurting…that you would find that peace…that you will find real joy.

Jesus said in Luke 22:31-32 (AMP) – 31 Simon, Simon (Peter), listen! SATAN HAS ASKED EXCESSIVELY THAT [ALL OF] YOU BE GIVEN UP TO HIM [OUT OF THE POWER AND KEEPING OF GOD], THAT HE MIGHT SIFT [ALL OF] YOU LIKE GRAIN, 32 But I have prayed especially for you [Peter], that your [own] faith may not fail; and when you yourself have turned again, strengthen and establish your brethren.

SATAN HAS ASKED EXCESSIVELY THAT [ALL OF] YOU BE GIVEN UP TO HIM [OUT OF THE POWER AND KEEPING OF GOD], THAT HE MIGHT SIFT [ALL OF] YOU LIKE GRAIN… I was in a church meeting yesterday and one of the pastors explained the original words satan used which is to DISINTEGRATE your faith. This word hit me hard. I thought of all the things I’ve had to fight against and you know what? That’s what the devil has been trying to do…DISINTEGRATE my faith.

I looked up the word ‘DISINTEGRATE’ this morning and it is to; break into parts or components or lose cohesion or unity. Some examples given includes to become powder or dust; make into a powder by breaking up or cause to become dust; become undone; crumble, fall or break apart into fragments; crash – break violently or noisily; smash;

Children of God…that’s the plan of the enemy to crush your faith in to power or dust that it becomes almost impossible to put it back again. This is not a joke. If in doubt ask Job. Prayer is needed to stand firm. Simon (Peter) thought he could handle it. He didn’t understand what Jesus was talking about.

Luke 22:33-34 (AMP) says – 33 And [Simon Peter] said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death. 34 But Jesus said, I tell you, Peter, before a [single] cock shall crow this day, you will three times [utterly] deny that you know Me.

The Message translation says – Jesus said, “I’m sorry to have to tell you this, Peter, but before the rooster crows you will have three times denied that you know me.”

You know 1 Corinthians 10:12 (NKJV) says – Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall…That was Peter’s case

We all need to pray fervently that OUR FAITH DOES NOT FAIL us when facing real hard times. The message translation says – Simon, I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out. When you have come through the time of testing, turn to your companions and give them a fresh start.”

The Amplified say – But I have prayed especially for you [Peter], that your [own] faith may not fail; and when you yourself have turned again, strengthen and establish your brethren.

My prayer this morning is that you stand firm and don’t faint. Your testimony will one day strengthen and establish your brethren.

I was speaking to somebody the other day about the huge challenges that life throws at one and we both agreed on one thing; rather than asking God all the time why all this things are happening to me, one should be asking the all-important question – who am I and what it is about me that the devil is trying so hard to get rid of or frustrate?

The enemy knows exactly who you are… Acts 19:13-15 (NLT) says – 13 A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying, “I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this. 15 But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I KNOW JESUS, AND I KNOW PAUL, BUT WHO ARE YOU?”

I KNOW JESUS, AND I KNOW PAUL, BUT WHO ARE YOU?…When Jesus was born, Herod passed a decree to kill all the male children born around that time because he knew that Jesus was a threat to him. Matthew 2:16 (NKJV) says – Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

He knew who Jesus was. But thank God nothing can stop those whom God has ordained for mighty works. Even Moses hid in the house of the same enemy that wanted him dead until it was time…

Whether you like it or not, the devil knows and considers every Christian. The Bible say when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, Satan also came among them.

Job 1:8-10 (NKJV) says – 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “HAVE YOU CONSIDERED MY SERVANT JOB, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made A HEDGE AROUND HIM, around his household, and around all that he has on every side?…

To consider means to ‘think carefully about something, typically before making a decision’. This tells me that the devil thought carefully about Job’s situation. Who knows? He may have tried to gain access to Job but then felt A HEDGE AROUND HIM. NLT says…You have ALWAYS put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property…

As far as Job was concerned, he was going about his business trying to live a blameless and upright life not knowing negotiations were taking place over his life, family and property. The devil knew who Job was – one with God’s hedge of protection around him. The Lord also knew who Job was and what He had placed in him and He said to satan, OK…give it your best shot and see what happens

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) says – No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Everyone that professes to be a child of God is considered based on the effect that they will have on the kingdom of darkness and if you are found not to have the covering of God…hmmm…Acts 19:16 (NLT) says – Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.

The year ends in 4 days and for most it reflection time. Reflecting back on your life Journey, have you been faced with major challenges that you don’t understand? WHO ARE YOU?

Still in the festive mood, John 3:16 (NKJV) says – For God SO LOVED THE WORLD that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Love was God’s motive for sending Jesus Christ. In the same way, Jesus expects everything we do to be done out of love. He said in Matthew 22:37-39 (NKJV) – 37…‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Jesus also said in John 13:34-35 (NKJV) – A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

But then, He writes to the church in Ephesus…Revelation 2:2-5 (AMP) says –2 I know your industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble, and YOUR PATIENT ENDURANCE, and HOW YOU CANNOT TOLERATE WICKED [MEN] and HAVE TESTED AND CRITICALLY APPRAISED THOSE WHO CALL [THEMSELVES] APOSTLES (SPECIAL MESSENGERS OF CHRIST) AND YET ARE NOT, and have found them to be impostors and liars. 3 I KNOW YOU ARE ENDURING PATIENTLY AND ARE BEARING UP FOR MY NAME’S SAKE, and YOU HAVE NOT FAINTED OR BECOME EXHAUSTED OR GROWN WEARY. 4 BUT I HAVE THIS [ONE CHARGE TO MAKE] AGAINST YOU: THAT YOU HAVE LEFT (ABANDONED) THE LOVE THAT YOU HAD AT FIRST [YOU HAVE DESERTED ME, YOUR FIRST LOVE]. 5 Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent.

I believe Jesus is saying here that I see everything you are doing but what is your motive?…Remember, He sees the heart of man.

The Message translation says – 2-3 “I see what you’ve done, your hard, hard work, your refusal to quit. I know you can’t stomach evil, that you weed out apostolic pretenders. I know your persistence, your courage in my cause, that you never wear out. 4-5 “But you walked away from your first love—why? What’s going on with you, anyway? Do you have any idea how far you’ve fallen? A Lucifer fall! “Turn back! Recover your dear early love. No time to waste, for I’m well on my way to removing your light from the golden circle.

As Christians, do you know that you could be doing all the right things but for the wrong reason? Do you know that rather than draw people to Christ, by their actions some christains have driven people further away from Christ? Personally, I reflect a lot. I have to go over and over my actions to check that it’s not coming from a place of bitterness, unforgiveness, manipulation, revenge, pride…There are so many times when I’ve said things to people… you know…the Bible says…I told them the truth…given them a piece of my mind and felt really good about it…You ought to know that I’m right and you’re wrong but then immediately I drop the phone or get in to my car, I hear the Lord saying…you know you’ve just made that person feel this little or feel so bad…and I find myself saying, ‘please forgive me Lord’.

LET LOVE BE YOUR MOTIVE for whatever you do. Love is the greatest virtue…not being right or following rules…Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV) says – 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Merry Christmas all…What a privilege to be amongst the living to celebrate our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. There are Christmas lights everywhere and we all know how the faces of children light up when the lights are turned on at home. There are many places in the western world where people actually turn up to see Christmas lights turned on for the first time each year. It’s so beautiful.

When Jesus was born, there was a particular light that led the wise men to Him and their main purpose was to worship Him.

Matthew 2:1-2 (NLT) says – 1 Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, 2 “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? WE SAW HIS STAR AS IT ROSE, AND WE HAVE COME TO WORSHIP HIM.

WE SAW HIS STAR AS IT ROSE, AND WE HAVE COME TO WORSHIP HIM…

Matthew 2:9-10 (NLT) says – 9…And the star they had seen in the east GUIDED THEM to Bethlehem. It WENT AHEAD OF THEM and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, THEY WERE FILLED WITH JOY! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and THEY BOWED DOWN AND WORSHIPED HIM. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

IT GUIDED THEM… IT WENT AHEAD…As you celebrate Jesus today…I pray that His star goes ahead and leads you to where He is

THEY WERE FILLED WITH JOY… THEY BOWED DOWN AND WORSHIPED HIM…As you celebrate Jesus today…I pray that you are filled with joy until it overflows and that you will bow down and worship Him for who He is

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) says – For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.

WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE…Light of the world…Here I am to Worship…Here I am to bow down…Here I am to say that You’re my God… JUST WORSHIP HIM FOR WHO HE IS…Thats the best gift you can give him…better than gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

God bless you

Have you ever heard of a party where the celebrant is not invited? A party were gifts are exchanged and nothing is given to the celebrant? A party that is celebrated in every venue other than the house of the celebrant? That’s what the world has turned Christmas to be…For many its all about gifts and santa clause coming to town…Sadly, its not just the world…many Christian’s as well…

A lot of people save huge amounts of money all year round just so they can go all out to make this season a special one. A lot of people go in to huge debts for the same reason. A lot of people risk their life’s traveling up and down the world to be with their loved ones but where is He that first loved you?

Today is the 24th of December, people are running up and down doing last minute preparations…the hair dressing salons will be full today…am going to paint the town red today…This will be the busiest season for the clubs…Hmmm…I wonder how the celebrant feels about this?

Let’s stop and think for a moment…

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) says – For unto us a Child is born, Unto us A SON IS GIVEN; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

A SON IS GIVEN…Now here’s the reason why a Son was given…

John 3:16 (NKJV) – For God so loved the world THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM should NOT PERISH but have EVERLASTING LIFE.

The birth of Jesus is worth celebrating but let your celebration reflect that you have EVERLASTING LIFE…

Romans 6:23 (NKJV) says – For the wages of sin is death, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.

As you exchange gifts this Christmas…please ask yourself this sincere question…have you got the GIFT OF GOD? Have my loved ones got the GIFT OF GOD?

If Jesus is the reason for the season, PLEASE DON’T MAKE THIS A PARTY WITHOUT THE CELEBRANT

Merry Christmas

God bless you

Edgardo Silvoso’s defines Strongholds as a mind-set impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable, situations that we know are contrary to the will of God.

For example, someone like Mephibosheth saw himself as a dead dog (2 Samuel 9:8), a feeling of hopeless based on what he had experienced from childhood. Can you imagine how many times the devil must have spoken those word to him. Today, many people have similar experiences; ‘I am a nobody’, ‘Nobody loves me’, ‘I have bad luck’, ‘I am a failure…Each of these claims reflect beliefs contrary to the revelation of the will of God that are embedded in our minds based on reoccurring situations, past experiences, family backgrounds…They reflect minds clouded by satan’s smoke screen, lies from the bit of hell, preventing us from seeing things the way God desires us to see them.

Strongholds tend to present a false view of reality, preventing us from seeing what is really true because of how they make us feel. All of us have mental strongholds; ways of thinking that are not in line with God’s truth. They are spiritual strongholds and we do not have to put up with them. The word of God is truth (John 17:17). That’s what we must live by. John 8:32 says – And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Galatians 5:1 also says – Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

We need to demolish these strongholds with God’s truth. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us that “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to DEMOLISH STRONGHOLDS. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”.

So whenever that thought comes in your mind that ‘you are a failure’, don’t accept it. It’s a lie from satan. Just say I am not a failure for 2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) says – Now thanks be to God who always leads us (me) in triumph in Christ, and through us (me) diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. Also Romans 8:37 (NKJV) says – Yet in all these things we are (I am) more than conquerors through Him who loved us (me).

Whenever that thought comes in your mind that ‘you are worthless’, don’t accept it. Just say 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT) says – For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our (my) sin, so that we (I) could be made right with God through Christ…so how can I be worthless if Christ died for me?

Whenever that thought comes in your mind that ‘you are cursed, don’t accept it. Just say Galatians 3:13 (NKJV) says – Christ has redeemed us (me) from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (me)…

If Mephibosheth had known the truth (not the fact) about his life, he would have told satan, No, I am not a dead dog, my destiny is to eat at the king’s table (2 Samuel 9:13).

Now start demolishing those strongholds in your life with God’s very own truth. This is something you may have to do over and over and over and over again until God’s truth sinks in. Remember; “AND YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE”.

Oh…Matthew 10:8 says…freely you have received; freely give. Neil Anderson does a great course on ‘Freedom in Christ’. It’s powerful. Doing the course in my local church completely transformed my walk with Christ. Email me for details.

Once upon a time, I only listened to encouraging messages while going through trials –those ones that show you the exit route instead of the elevator. But as I started to learn more about God, those messages weren’t as important. My focus is now on getting to know the mind of God and how He works…WHAT IS GOD UP TO? Matthew 7:13-14 says – 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because NARROW is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it

Many Christians have lost sight of this fact and tend to look for the easy way out. The Message Bible puts it like this – “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life-to God!-is vigorous and requires total attention

When it was time for God to rescue the Israelites from slavery, He promised to take them to a land flowing with milk and honey but while the destination was important to them, the route was more important to God. Moses was quick to remind them in Deuteronomy 8:2 (NIV) – Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, TO HUMBLE AND TEST YOU in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

THE ROUTE GOD CHOSES humbles and tests you…NLT says – humbling you and testing you TO PROVE YOUR CHARACTER…

THE ROUTE GOD CHOSES moulds you in to the image of Christ…Romans 8:29 (AMP) says – 29 For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] TO BE MOLDED INTO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

NARROW means ‘of small or limited width’. As you travel down God’s route, the narrowness and roughness causes you to bump into things which helps to scrap off things like pride, anger, impurity, quarreling, jealousy, selfishness and you pick up things like humility, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and you become more and more like Christ.

THE ROUTE GOD CHOSES prepares you for battle…Exodus 13:17-18 (NIV) says – 17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by the DESERT road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

And we know Matthew 11:12 (NKJV) says – And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force…It’s a battle. That’s why Paul made statements like ‘I have FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7)’.

THE ROUTE GOD CHOSES passes WILDERNESS AND DESERT PLACES. There God himself feeds you with the kind of food that matures you. Deuteronomy 8:3 (NIV) says – He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Also notice that Jesus fed the 5000 and 4000 in the wildness and desert places. See Matthew 14:15 & Matthew 15:33

One final thing…on this ROUTE GOD CHOSES, you are definitely bound to bump into the devil with his many trials and temptations and as someone said, if you don’t bump into him, it could be an indication that you are both going in the same direction. May that never be our portion and may we choose to follow THE ROUTE GOD CHOSES in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen

God bless you
