A song writer once wrote: ‘Count your blessings and name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done’.
Do you know there are times you think the Lord has bypassed you and you say…”You haven’t come through for me Lord!”…Not until you actually stop and start to count one by one all that He has been doing. Then like the song writer said…it surprises you what the Lord has done. At times, it’s because we do not recognise God’s blessings. We want it one way but God gives it to us in another way. This was the case with the Israelites in the wilderness when they cried out for food. The Lord rained down bread from heaven but Exodus 16:15 (NIV) says – When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “WHAT IS IT?” FOR THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.
Psalm 103:1-2 (AMP) says – 1 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits
The Message translation says – 1-2 O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing!
It’s the last day of 2012. Like the Israelites, are you in a position where you are saying “WHAT IS IT?” How has the Lord blessed me? Do you need somebody like Moses to tell you what it is?
For me, like Daniel, I can confidently say ‘My God sent His angel and shut the lions mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.’ (Daniel 6:22)
What about you? The fact that you are still around today is a reason to bless the Lord. And here’s some more reasons:
Psalm 103:3-5 (MSG) says –
He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in His presence.
BLESS THE LORD…DO NOT FORGET HIS BENEFITS…See you all in the New Year by His special grace. Amen
God bless you
