…TRUTH, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. LEARN HOW TO APPLY THEM. You’ll need them throughout your life… (Ephesians 6:13-18 MSG).

Beloved, we are privileged to have the full armour of God as a complete weapon against satan but we must learn how to develop and apply them so we can stand firm when he attacks. The first one is TRUTH… putting on the belt of truth buckled around your waist. A Roman soldier’s belt secured his armour in their proper place and supported his sword. In the same way, the truth should secure all your armour in place.

With spiritual warfare, the mind is the main battlefield. The battle of the mind takes place when the enemy attacks your thoughts about the truth of God, yourself and your relationship with Him. Many people have been fed with so many lies by satan and over the years, this has formed mental strongholds. But Jesus said… You will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free (John 8: 32).

You develop spiritual muscles in this area by daily absorbing Scriptural truth. What is the truth about God and my situation? I like how Neil Anderson of freedom in Christ put it. He said… “If what we think does not reflect the truth, then what we feel does not reflect reality”.

Beloved, I’m thinking of Jacob. At one time… Jacob exclaimed, “You are robbing me of my children! Joseph is gone! Simeon is gone! And now you want to take Benjamin, too. Everything is going against me!” (Genesis 42:36 NLT). However, we know that wasn’t the reality. For one, Joseph was not dead but the sad thing was that Jacob had already decided years ago… “I will go to my grave mourning for my son,”…(Genesis 37:35 NLT) and that’s how he lived his life until he found out the truth.

Unfortunately, many of us have been fed many lies about our lives and for such a mind that has been brainwashed with lies for so many years, developing spiritual muscles would involve renewing your mind with God’s truth. Many even believe God doesn’t love them but you have to get reject that lie and by continually telling yourself that God loves me… That’s why He sent His Son to die for me. This may take some time but Christians who fill their mind with God’s truth win spiritual battles against the mind. They… take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Beloved, you also need to rely heavily on the help of the Holy Spirit to replace every lie with the truth. Jesus said… But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth)… (John 16:13 AMP) Today, I pray that you allow Him teach you truth that would break any stronghold formed in your mind and as you do so, may you win every battle thrown your way.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV).

Beloved, parents train their children not to run from every battle. “Daddy, I don’t want to go to school today. Someone’s bullying me. They keep calling me names” but daddy says “Child, don’t run away from your battles. Don’t ever let anyone intimidate you. Whenever they call you ugly, stand up to them and say, I’m not ugly. My daddy says I am beautiful”. The child may continue to run until the day she decides to take her father’s advice and stand up to them. Then she realises that they were all mouth and no action. They backed off immediately she stood up to them. She gains some confidence and little by little, she becomes stronger and starts to win bigger battles.

In the same way, God wants you to develop spiritual muscles to be prepared for battle because in this life you would constantly face battles from the enemy. This is why… when Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness … THUS THE ISRAELITES LEFT EGYPT LIKE AN ARMY READY FOR BATTLE (Exodus 13:17-18 NLT).

We also see this as they possessed their Promised Land. We are told the Lord didn’t drive out all their enemies. He left some… TO TEACH WARFARE to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience) (Judges 3:1-2 NIV).

Beloved, today, we fight spiritual battles and our feature text lets us know we are to fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons. For example, if your battle is that of the mind, you don’t have to agree with those negative thoughts bombarding your mind. Fight it with the truth of what Daddy says.

The Israelites left Egypt like AN ARMY READY FOR BATTLE… You too need to… BE PREPARED. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE, FAITH, AND SALVATION ARE MORE THAN WORDS. LEARN HOW TO APPLY THEM. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out (Ephesians 6:13-18 MSG).

Beloved, God supplies all the armour you need to defeat the attacks of the enemy but you must put them on… LEARN HOW TO APPLY THEM… The Lord is saying… go on child, you can do it… kick the devil with my PEACE. Pierce him with My WORD… Headbutt him with your SALVATION… LEARN HOW TO APPLY THEM…

29. December 2016 · Comments Off on DO YOU HAVE A SPIRITUAL LOW SELF-ESTEEM? · Categories: Identity, Jesus Christ, Truth

Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, “Who is your servant, that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me?” Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master’s household. But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will eat here at my table.” (Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.) (2 Samuel 9:8-10 NLT)

Beloved, how do you think God sees you? Do you think He really loves you? Do you think God hears you when you pray to him? Or do you this He loves and favours others more than you?

Self-esteem is the opinion you have of yourself and if you have low self-esteem, then the opinion you have of yourself is low. You feel you don’t deserve love or to have any good thing happen to you. Unfortunately, someone like Mephibosheth in our feature text saw himself as a dead dog, a feeling of hopelessness based on what he had experienced from childhood. Can you imagine how many times the devil must have spoken these words to him.

Unfortunately, Mephibosheth is not alone. Today, many people have similar experiences; “I’m a nobody, Nobody loves me, I’m a failure all because of past experiences, family backgrounds etc. However, all of these thoughts are contrary to the truth. They are lies from the pit of hell, preventing people from seeing things the way God desires them to see things but… you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).

So, what is the truth? The truth is that the Lord says… I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself (Jeremiah 31:3 NLT). The truth is that… overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us (Romans 8:37 NLT).

If Mephibosheth had known the truth (not the fact) about his life, he would have told satan, No, I am not a dead dog, my destiny is to eat at the king’s table. However, that’s a position satan doesn’t want you to attain hence the reason he makes you think Jesus doesn’t really loves you. That God doesn’t hear you when you pray to him and that He loves and favours others more than you. But you must fight for your position on the Kings table. And what do you fight with?

Beloved, you fight with God’s word… for the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to DEMOLISH STRONGHOLDS. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

You have to replace every negative thought with God’s very own truth. This is something you would have to do over and over and over and over again until God’s truth sinks in but don’t settle for a spiritual low self-esteem.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. AND YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.” (John 8:31-32 NKJV)

Beloved, to be able to enjoy the Christian life and true freedom, we must always live according to God’s truth and not according to the lies we hear from the enemy. I can’t even begin to emphasise how important it is to live by the truth as it is written in God’s word and revealed by the Holy Spirit. It’s so sad to think about how people can be held captive for decades by the lies the enemy whispers in their ears. Jesus said this about satan… He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, HE SPEAKS WHAT IS NATURAL TO HIM, FOR HE IS A LIAR [HIMSELF] AND THE FATHER OF LIES AND OF ALL THAT IS FALSE (John 8:44 AMP).

He speaks WHAT IS NATURAL TO HIM… and if you are not careful, he makes the lies that he tells you about yourself sound natural to you. The battle for the truth takes place in our mind. There’s Gods truth and then there’s the lie of satan… The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows) (John 10:10 AMP).

Beloved, God has a plan for our life’s and satan also has a plan to destroy God’s plan. IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHOEVER WE AGREE WITH WILL DETERMINE THE COURSE OF OUR LIFE. The enemy is always out to deceive us by tempting us to believe things that are not really true but can become personal realities for us if we buy into the lies surrounding them. He knows that if he can dominate our thinking, he can dominate our lives. If we choose to allow him, he will steal, kill and destroy the life that Jesus has come to give us.

However, the Lord has given us the weapons to overcome satan and His truth is a mighty weapon. It’s up to us to decide to agree with God and dismantle all the strategies of satan… We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT)

Beloved, when we are deceived, we don’t know, enjoy or live by the truth. Think about it. In what ways is the devil trying to deceive you into believing his lies? What scriptures can you use to counteract his lies?

19. September 2016 · Comments Off on GOD DOESN’T LIE · Categories: God's Plan, Identity, Jesus Christ, Relationship, Trusting God, Truth

GOD IS NOT A MAN—He doesn’t lie. God isn’t the son of a man to want to take back what He’s said, or say something and not follow through, or speak and not act on it (Numbers 23:19 Voice).

Beloved, throughout this year there are two things the Lord has been walking me through on identity. The first one is how we see ourselves and second is how we see Him. These two things determine everything else. In our feature text, we are told that GOD IS NOT A MAN. The reason for this is that we have the tendency to translate our relationship and our experience with God based on our relationship with men. Hence the reason He wants to make it clear that He is not a man and that we should never, ever make the mistake of comparing him with that husband, that father, that boss that lied to you. “Don’t compare Me to that woman that disappointed you. Don’t compare Me to that man that has proved to be very unreliable. They are human beings and so are fallible by nature but I am not at all like them… I don’t take back what I have said… I don’t say something and don’t mean it”.

As I was meditating on this, the question Jesus asked His disciples came to mind… “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then He asked them, “But WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?” Simon Peter answered, “YOU ARE THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.” Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it (Matthew 16:13-18 NLT)

Beloved, everybody except Peter compared Jesus to John, Elijah, Jeremiah etc. but these were all men capable of mistakes. However, it was only Peter who got the revelation of who Jesus is; He is not a man like us and Jesus said… that’s it right there. Now that you know who I am, this is who you are and this is how much power and authority you have based on your revelation of the truth.

Beloved, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a Christian, if your view of God is wrong, then you have to take the time to invest in getting to know Him as not a man capable of doing what men do. Don’t allow the devil to make you sin by calling Him a liar. The Lord says… For as rain and snow can’t go back once they’ve fallen, but soak into the ground and nourish the plants that grow, providing seed to the farmer and bread for the hungry, so it is when I declare something. My word will go out and not return to Me empty, but it will do what I wanted; it will accomplish what I determined (Isaiah 55:10-11 Voice).

Do you believe Him?

06. August 2016 · Comments Off on DEFEATING WHAT’S KEEPING YOU FROM YOUR BREAKTHROUGH · Categories: Deliverance, Freedom, Thoughts, Truth, Victory, Words

… David and his men immediately set out for Jerusalem to take on the Jebusites, who lived in that country. But they said, “You might as well go home! Even the blind and the lame could keep you out. You can’t get in here!” THEY HAD CONVINCED THEMSELVES THAT DAVID COULDN’T BREAK THROUGH. BUT DAVID WENT RIGHT AHEAD and captured the fortress of Zion, known ever since as the City of David (2 Samuel 5:6-7 MSG).

Beloved, you probably know by now that the enemy have vowed to do all he can to prevent you from being who God has called you to be so would use all sorts of tactics to stop you but it will not work as far as you press on in Christ. We read about David who matched on and took what was his despite the enemy’s intimidation.

The NKJV says… NEVERTHELESS DAVID TOOK THE STRONGHOLD OF ZION… but what did he have to get rid of? It was … the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul (2 Samuel 5:8 NKJV).

Zion (Jerusalem) became the centre of Israel’s spiritual life and David had to get rid of the lame and blind standing in his way so for you today, is there anything that has spiritually blinded or paralysed you that you need to overcome?

The text talks about stronghold and while this could be a physical situation, satan also builds mental strongholds in our minds which is defined as a mind-set impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable, situations that we know are contrary to the will of God. Because of reoccurring situations, past experiences, family background etc., we develop mind-sets that make us think defeating thoughts like “I’m hopeless, I’m cursed, I’m a failure…” Unfortunately, these presents a false view of God’s reality for your life.

Beloved, even the blind and the lame could keep you out… If your mind is clouded by satan’s smoke screen, it would prevent you from seeing things the way God desires you to see them so you must pull those strongholds down and… we use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT).

Beloved, you are to use the truth in God’s word as a weapon to drive out these strongholds. You are not a failure; God always leads us into triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14). You are not hopeless… Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). And you are not cursed because Christ redeemed you from the curse of the Law (Galatians 3:13-14)

Beloved, you’ve probably realised that I’ve been dealing with negative mind-sets and strongholds recently. This is because demolishing strongholds is the greatest breakthrough you can ever have so as you decide to be strengthened by God’s truth, I pray that you take hold of everything the Lord has for you.

13. July 2016 · Comments Off on STOP LISTENING TO THE LIE OF THE ENEMY · Categories: Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Mind, Truth

… At the core of his character, he is a liar; everything he speaks originates in these lies because he is the father of lies (John 8:44 VOICE).

Beloved, our feature text tells us that the devil is the father of lies and as I meditated on this recently, what came to mind is that this is a topic that always has to be revisited because many don’t seem to realise the depth of this statement.

The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) and one thing I realised is that if he can’t kill you physically, he will try to kill you emotionally and spiritually and how he achieves this is by planting lies in your mind like you’re not good enough… you’re unworthy… you’re always going to mess up etc.

Unfortunately, when you go through stuff, the enemy comes with lies about the reason why‎ and you give him authority over your life by agreeing with him because… as he thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).

Some of these lies are deep rooted. For example, if someone knew they were almost aborted, the enemy begins to tell them lies like you are not wanted, you don’t belong and that person ends up going through life feeling rejected and struggling to belong anywhere. That’s why we all need to examine the condition of our soul and to challenge the lies of the enemy in our lives.

We also need to stop listening to the accusations of the enemy bearing in mind that he is the accuser of the brethren who accuses us before our God day and night (Revelation 12:10).

I was also meditating on the text that says… there is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death (Proverbs 14:12 NLT). What this means is that there’s a skilfully packaged lie that the enemy could presented to you in a way that it seems very right to you to make you go down a path not knowing that its leading to destruction and death that’s why we need to submit it to the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth (John 16:13).

Beloved, we have a job to identify every lie of the enemy in our lives and replace it with the truth in God’s word which helps to… knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT)

Once you identify the truth, you must keep going over it until the enemy flees from you. I was listening to someone say that the enemy has no good virtues like patience so if you can be steadfast with your mind battles using the word of God, he will flee from you… So submit yourselves to the one true God and fight against the devil and his schemes. If you do, he will run away in failure (James 4:7 VOICE).

07. July 2016 · Comments Off on THE TRUE SIDE OF THE STORY‏‏ · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Relationship, Trusting God, Truth, Words

He who states his case first seems right, until his rival comes and cross-examines him (Proverbs 18:17 AMPC).

Beloved, have you ever had to argue your case with either a smart, controlling or manipulative person? Well, I was listening to someone who’s quite a naturally smart guy say he gets even smarter during an argument. They said you know how you get so overwhelmed by an argument that you start to say dumb stuff? “Not me”, they said. They said when you are talking they are not listening but just waiting for you to finish so they can have their turn. They said they take their time to construct their words so that they can back you up in a corner‎. Do you know anyone like this or does this describe you?

As I was meditating on our feature text yesterday morning, the Holy Spirit began to minister to me about the different sides to a story. There’s always your side of the story and there’s always the other person’s side of the story but then there’s God’s side and we all have to get to that place where we are humble enough to allow His side prevail.

Personally, I don’t really like confrontations because my emotions get in the way and as a result, I’m not able to present my case properly. We all have our faults when it comes to making a case. We can use any tool just to win; be it blackmail, manipulation, intimidation etc. all because we want to win an argument. Hardly would you ever want to present a case that’s not in your favour but there’s always the other side and I like how the Message translation says… the first speech in a court case is always convincing—until the cross-examination starts!

And then, there’s always Gods side which may not be in your favour. Joshua asked the Angel of the Lord… “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come… (Joshua 5:13-14 NIV)

Beloved, a person whose heart is right before God; one who’s not full of pride would always be open to stand corrected. They are willing to challenge the story they tell themselves. Could I be wrong? The Scriptures say… there is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death (Proverbs 14:12 NLT).

I remember telling someone that was trying to be a mediator between myself and my ex-husband that if I start to tell my own side of the story, there’s no way I won’t present my case in a way that favours me and makes me look good and I’m sure he would do the same so let God be the judge. The God who really knows the unadulterated truth of what’s going on. The God who doesn’t play favouritism (Romans 2:11). He would speak at last.

‎Abraham said… Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right? (Genesis 18:25 NLT)

Beloved, who’s side of the story is really true?

28. June 2016 · Comments Off on DON’T JUST GET HYPED‏ · Categories: Jesus Christ, Revelation, Truth, Words

The Jewish people here were more receptive than they had been in Thessalonica. They warmly and enthusiastically welcomed the message and then, day by day, would check for themselves to see if what they heard from Paul and Silas was truly in harmony with the Hebrew Scriptures (Acts 17:11 VOICE).

Beloved, I remember when a friend and I listened to someone preach at a conference. It was one of those occasions where we were like “I’ve never heard anything like that before”. We were so hyped. Even the host was that at some point, he got up and lay down on the stage and when he couldn’t take it anymore, he went to take the microphone from the speaker; “wait… wait… wait… you can’t just rush through something like that. You need to give us some time to allow this sink in”.

It was that mind-blowing and with many more speakers lined up, I remember telling my friend that there was no point in allowing anyone else speak and that if I was the speaker coming on after him, I would just come out and spend the time prophesying over the people and then send them home. What else do I want to say? LOL.

As the next speaker came up, they had to admit that they had been preaching the gospel for decades but as they listened to him preach, they had to wonder… “isn’t this the same Bible I’ve been preaching from?”

My thoughts exactly. However, after the hype was over, myself and my friend started asking questions; “but if what he said was true, why did Jesus say…?” and I remember my friend say “now we are thinking for ourselves”. Like the Christians in our feature text, we were returning back to the Scriptures to see if the things we heard was true.

Even the host had to spend the next service bringing some balance to what was said. He too had gone to search the Scriptures and felt he had a responsibility to correct some things. “Don’t throw out the baby with the water”, he said. However, there are some things that need to be straightened out.

As I reflected on that episode recently, Apollos‎ came to mind…‎ Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus… He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. HOWEVER, HE KNEW ONLY ABOUT JOHN’S BAPTISM. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately (Acts 18:24-26 NLT).

Beloved, Apollos didn’t have a balanced message and that’s why teaching is so important because it establishes you. Charismatic preaching on the other hand in many cases just inspires you.

Beloved, we are perishing for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Don’t just get hyped. According to my mum, 3 people can say different things about the same topic and manage to convince you‎. So true but the truth is that while people may sound convincing, the responsibility still lies on us to search the Scriptures to see if what we’ve heard is true.

18. June 2016 · Comments Off on COME OUT OF PRISON‏ · Categories: Deliverance, Jesus Christ, Obedience, Revelation, Spiritual Growth, Trusting God, Truth, Words

Go out and preach the word!… Reprove, warn, and encourage; but do so with all the patience and instruction needed to fulfill your calling because a time will come when some will no longer tolerate sound teaching. Instead, they will live by their own desires; they’ll scratch their itching ears by surrounding themselves with teachers who approve of their lifestyles and tell them what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:2-3 VOICE).

Beloved, recently, I had a dream where I found myself in prison. Two men were about to torture me but somehow, I managed to escape. However, as I ran pass the prison doors, after thanking God that I was free, I felt the need to go back in and so I did. But as I walked through the door, I saw a multitude of children being led by some adults who looked like their teachers walking towards the door. When I saw them walking towards the door, I was happy that‎ everyone was coming out of the prison. However, to my surprise, they all took their seats next to tables in the long corridor near the door. The setting looked like they were in elementary school and their teachers where going from table to table attending to them. On one of the tables close to the wall, I saw packets of sweets and chocolates. It looked like it was what they were being fed.

I woke up wondering what the dream meant because I couldn’t understand why they were close to the prison door but not coming out. I later did some research on dream symbols and here’s what I found;

‎Prison represents ‘the world’… ‘captivity and bondage’… ‘place of confinement’ … Satan’s kingdom…

Prisoners represents ‘unbelievers’… ‘captives of satan’… ‘oppression’… ‘addiction’… captives of false religion…

Candy/sweet represents ‘words’… ‘God’s words’… ‘treat’… ‘pleasurable to the flesh, but without spiritual nutrient’… ‘without substance’… ‘Appealing to children or immature believers’…

Beloved, I’ll leave you to decide what you think my dream is saying but my interpretation is that many teachers that are supposed to be bringing people out of the world are just giving them the kind of food that feed their flesh only hence keeping them bound to the world.

However, this is the season that the Lord is raising people that would question the activities of churches. These people would face intimidation from controlling people who would want to make you seem as if you don’t know what you’re talking about but this isn’t the time to give into intimidation. The Lord told Prophet Jeremiah “don’t be afraid of their faces” (Jeremiah 1:8,17)

You’ve gone through a season of isolation and processing. It’s been so intense. Like Elijah, death looked more appealing than life but no matter how many times you begged God to end it, the answer was NO. All you can feel is just a stirring up on the inside. No, you are not crazy. No, you are not proud. No, you are not rebellious. Yes, you are hearing from God and He says it’s time to go and do what I asked you to do.

SELAH!!!
