David danced before the Lord with all his might… but… Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him (2 Samuel 6:14-16 NLT).
Beloved, a few weeks back, while I was still in Africa, I attended a church thanksgiving service and the tradition of the church was that everyone was to leave their seats, dance to the front of the church and give an offering. So, when it was time, my friend and I took off our shoes and let’s just say it was show time. Well, I was still trying to act a little bit reserved but you need to see my friend. She went all out and as she did, there was this particular celebrity that just kept looking at her and probably smiling in amazement. I could almost imagine what she was thinking in her mind and as I looked at her, I’m thinking, “Ma’am, you have no idea. You don’t know the reason behind this undignified praise”.
Beloved, there are some people’s story that you know and when you see them praise God the way they do, you kind of know why they go crazy before the Lord but there are people that may think, “it doesn’t take all that” Others think you must behave a certain way when people are around. “Really? Do you know what it’s cost to come this far? ‎
This was what happened ‎between David and his wife Michal… When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal… came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!” David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!…” (2 Samuel 6:20-22 NLT).
So, what’s really bothering you Michal? Is it jealously? ‎ I like that David said… you haven’t seen anything yet. I would even do worse than this. ‎Do you know where I’m coming from?
Beloved, the interesting thing is that there are times when it’s your praise that keeps you from falling apart. Those are the times when you don’t feel like carrying on but then, the Bible says… let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God… (Hebrews 13:15 NLT)
Beloved… It is not the dead who praise the Lord (Psalm 115:17 NIV). Never allow anyone define how you are to praise God. Don’t put your title before God either. There’s no post that is greater than that of our Lord and I like that He says… “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” (Luke 19:40 NLT).
So, today is Sunday and as you attend church today, are you going to allow the stones take your place? Just think back and remember your journey and give God a praise that He deserves.

BLESS (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!) (Psalm 103:1 AMP)

‎Beloved, what does it mean to praise the Lord with all that is within you? When the psalmist says gratefully praise the Lord with all that is within you, this isn’t about you singing songs of praises or about your dance moves. The Voice translation says… O my soul, come, praise the Eternal with all that is in me—body, emotions, mind, and will—every part of who I am — praise His holy name.

Yes, we can probably all dance like David danced but while others look at the outward appearance, the Lord looks deep within to see our hearts‎. So, beloved, what does He see when He looks deep into your heart?

An example is when Cain and Abel presented themselves before the Lord. We are told that… Abel brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat portions. And the Lord had respect and regard for Abel and for his offering, but for Cain and his offering He had no respect or regard. So Cain was exceedingly angry and indignant, and he looked sad and depressed. And the Lord said to Cain, why are you angry? And why do you look sad and depressed and dejected? If you do well, will you not be accepted?… (Genesis 4:4-7 AMP)

‎The Lord had no regard FOR CAIN and his offering! This means that the Lord was not just looking at his offering.

I believe this is when your emotions are in alignment with your praise. Beloved, do you know that you can do all the outward show, sing or say all the right words but what you do or say is the exact opposite of how you feel and think? Your lips says “You are a faithful God” but you are thinking “Really? So, why haven’t I seen Your faithfulness in my life?”

And fair enough, there are times when we are down and our praise is a real sacrifice of but when there’s bitterness, anger, unbelief, disobedience in your heart, how can you truly praise someone you are so bitter or angry with? How do you think that person would respond to your praise knowing what’s really in your heart?

The Psalmist said… let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14 AMP)‎. The Voice translation says… May the words that come out of my mouth and the musings of my heart meet with Your gracious approval…

And then is your ‎will in alignment with the will of God? Perhaps, the Lord has been asking you to do something but you ignore Him but then you come before him with praises, what do you think would be His response?

Beloved, perhaps the Lord is asking for your sincere praise today. How are you going to respond?

A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!‎ (Acts 16:22- 26 NLT)

Beloved, this is one of those popular verses that we’ve come to be so familiar with. It is one that songs have been made out of it and I remember this familiar song that says…. ‘Paul and Silas they prayed… they sang… the Holy Ghost came down on Paul and Silas’… but can you imagine what happens when the Holy Ghost descends on a place?

The Bible says God inhabits the praise of His people… But You are holy, O You Who dwell in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered] (Psalm 22:3 AMPC). I love how the Message translation says it… leaning back on the cushions of Israel’s praise…

Can you imagine the Lord entering that prison cell and leaning back on the cushions of Paul and Silas praise? The cell cannot contain Him. His presence in the room would shake and break everything apart including all the so called chains and reading this verse again, what came to mind is that the mistake the jailer made was to leave their lips unchained‎.

Beloved, praise is a powerful tool‎ that confuses the enemy and no matter what is tied down in chains around you, you can still praise your way through as far as your lips remains unchained.

‎There’s another song by William Murphy that says ‘Praise is what I do… When I want to be close to You… I lift my hands in praise…. Praise is who I am… I will praise Him while I can… I’ll bless Him at all times… I vow to praise You… Through the good and the bad… I’ll praise You… Whether happy or sad… I’ll praise You… In all that I go through… Because praise is what I do… Cause I owe it all to You.

Beloved, is praise what you do? Is praise who you are? Or has the enemy succeeded ‎in muting your voice?

We are to… offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name (Hebrews 13:15 NLT). Your praise may be a sacrifice right now in the sense that you may be giving it from a place of great pain but keep at it and before you know it, you would be singing a praise of thanksgiving‎.

Among all the people of the earth, there are none who compare. He does as He wishes with the armies of heaven and those who live on earth. No one can stop His hand from acting; no one dares to ask, ‘What have You done?’” It was in that moment that I came to my senses. Soon my honor and splendor were restored as Daniel predicted, and the former glory of my kingdom returned… In time my kingdom and power grew even greater than it was before. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, acknowledge the true King of heaven. I praise, lift up, and glorify Him because all He does is true, all His ways are just, and He is able to cut down those who strut about in their pride (Daniel 4:35-37 Voice).

Beloved, our feature text reminds me of this gospel song by Evie Karlsson with lyrics that says “all the glory must be to the Lord… For He is worthy of our praise… No man on earth should give glory to Himself… All the glory must be to the Lord”.

King Nebuchadnezzar was warned in a dream about taking credit for his success but he wouldn’t listen. Rather, twelve months later he was taking a walk on the flat roof of the royal palace in Babylon. As he looked out across the city, he said, ‘Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city as my royal residence to display my majestic splendor.’ “While these words were still in his mouth, a voice called down from heaven, ‘O King Nebuchadnezzar, this message is for you! You are no longer ruler of this kingdom. (Daniel 4:30-31 NLT)

What a shame! According to my Bible notes “a theme found throughout Scripture is that God humbles the proud and exalts the humble. Nebuchadnezzar is stronger than anyone else, and he knows it. He willingly accepts credit for all that has happened in his life, so God moves decisively to show how insignificant Nebuchadnezzar truly is. It takes little to reduce him to an animal-like state, a wild man living at the margins of humanity, his power and prestige eroded overnight. If one of the greatest kings in history degenerates so completely, what can be done to common folks? Seven years of living as an animal go by, however, and he comes to his senses. He recognizes the truth of who he is and who God is”.

Beloved, what’s the lesson here? May we never be in a position where we are so taken away that we forget to give God the credit for both the small and great things because that’s a seed of Lucifer right there. Apostle Paul said… whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out His special favor on me… (1 Corinthians 15:10 NLT)

I pray that we don’t have to go through what Nebuchadnezzar had to go through before we come to our senses. May we always ACKNOWLEDGE THE TRUE KING OF HEAVEN… PRAISE, LIFT UP, AND GLORIFY HIM.

“All the glory must be to the Lord… For He is worthy of our praise… No man on earth should give glory to Himself… All the glory must be to the Lord”.

01. November 2016 · Comments Off on BREAK THAT OLD RECORD AND RELEASE A NEW SONG · Categories: Action, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Praise, Trusting God, Victory

And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord (Psalm 40:3 AMPC).

Beloved, its November and we are fast approaching the end of the year and if there’s anything the enemy knows how to do especially at this time is play a record of all your problems and the things you haven’t achieved and if you haven’t deliberately broken that record, he would keep at it. However, it’s time to sing a new song. Last week, the Lord put a new song in my mouth which was simply… ‘I will exalt You… You are my God’ by Hillsong. I later understood that He wanted me to start exalting Him full stop. It was like I wasn’t given permission to say anything else.

Our feature text says the Lord… has put a new song in my mouth… but not just any song; not a song of mourning or of weeping or of disappointment but a song of praise. Also, this isn’t a song of praise to man… not your employer, bank manager, friend etc. It is praise to our God because only He can do what He intends to do.

Many shall see… This isn’t the kind of song you sing in your secret place only but many shall see…. everybody around you will see and would fear and place their trust in your God. Your case would be like that of Moses and the Israelites. As they were escaping from their enemies, they came to the red sea. It looked like a dead end and the people started freaking out but then… Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:13-14 NKJV)

True to his words, the Lord fought their battle for them… The Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea and their waters covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained (Exodus 14:27-28 NKJV)… So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses (Exodus 14:30-31 NKJV).

Beloved, this is going to be your testimony. All the enemies that have been chasing you right from January till now, with just one little action from the Lord, you will see them no more and you will rejoice with a new song.

… Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! (Exodus 15:1 NKJV)

Beloved, if you believe this, why not start singing your new song?

02. September 2016 · Comments Off on ARE YOU AFRAID YOU WON’T DELIVER? · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Pain, Praise, Prayer, Trusting God, Victory

Will I open the womb and not deliver? I have made this place labor in terrible pain, but do you think I won’t help it give birth? That is what I, the Eternal One have to say (Isaiah 66:9 Voice).

Beloved, can you believe it’s already September? Wasn’t it just yesterday we said happy new year? Where has the time gone? Anyway, as I spent time reflecting on the year so far, I heard the Lord say it’s the ninth month and it’s a month of delivery for those that have been pregnant with His purpose (not yours) since the beginning of the year but He also highlighted the fears and the doubts that the enemy would want to try to use as a hindrance to receiving this word hence the reason why our feature text is one to hold on to without wavering.

For some people, a lot has happened during these nine months’ period and you are now not sure whether there’s been a miscarriage or its going to be a still birth but know that regardless of how things may have seemed, God has always been in control and… we are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan (Romans 8:28 Voice).

Beloved, though it may not have seemed like it, all things; both the good, the bad and the ugly have been working out for your good all along.

Referring to our feature text, according to my Bible notes… “Jerusalem, the mother, is about to give birth to a new nation. God, the midwife, is there to make sure the birth goes well. Throughout Isaiah’s prophecy it is clear that God has initiated all the things that have happened to Israel and Judah. The destruction of Jerusalem and her glorious temple, the decades of exile in a foreign land, and now the return and restoration of Jerusalem are God’s work, pure and simple. Now all of these events and judgments point to a single moment when Jerusalem will resume its place as God’s chosen city and will open its gates to believing pilgrims. The prophet asks: WILL GOD PREVENT THIS NEW BIRTH FROM HAPPENING? AFTER HAVING BROUGHT HIS PEOPLE THIS FAR, IT IS UNTHINKABLE THAT GOD WOULD TURN BACK NOW”.

Beloved, God has been orchestrating events to get you to this point of delivery and for some, expect some suddenlies… Have you ever heard of a woman who gave birth before she went into labor? Have you ever seen a woman who delivered a son without feeling a thing? Do you think it’s possible for the land to go through labor in an instant, or to bear a nation, to be new and strong, in a single day? Nevertheless, Zion suffered only a moment before she gave birth to her children! (Isaiah 66:7-8 Voice)

For others, though it’s about to get messy, however, that’s because it is delivery time and all you need is strength to PUSH – Pray and Praise Until Something Happens…

28. August 2016 · Comments Off on YOU MADE IT ANYWAY · Categories: Deliverance, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Praise, Testimony, Trusting God, Victory

My brothers and sisters, we have to tell you that when we were in Asia the troubles we faced were nearly more than we could handle. The burdens we bore nearly crushed us. Our strength dwindled to nothing. For a while, WE WEREN’T SURE WE WOULD MAKE IT THROUGH THE WHOLE ORDEAL. We thought we would have to serve out our death sentences right then and there. As a result, we realized that we could no longer rely on ourselves and that we must trust solely in God, who possesses the power to raise the dead. Miraculously God Himself delivered us from the cold hands of death. We again place our hope in Him alone, and we know He will deliver us (2 Corinthians 1:8-10 Voice).

Beloved, last weekend, I witnessed the Lord FIGHT for me against overwhelming forces that ganged up against me but the Lord gave me a word which was simply… in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken! (Isaiah 54:17 NLT)

It was tough but like Apostle Paul testifies in our feature text, with the help of God, I made it anyway and I witnessed the power of God move in a way I have never experienced before.

Beloved, has God ever showed up last minute for you? Have you ever gone through certain situations and thought that there was no way out of this? Such was the case of Apostle Paul and his team. They found themselves in a situation where they thought it was all over but as I read their concluding testimony, the phrase came to mind; “BUT YOU MADE IT ANYWAY” and I started singing “Made A Way” by Travis Greene… “When our backs were against the wall and it looked as if it was over… You made a way…”

According to my Bible notes… “In these letters, and often in our own lives, it is when we seem to have come to the end of ourselves that we see and experience the fullness of God in entirely new ways. This is not to say that any of us should or would seek out the kind of suffering Paul experienced; we do not long to be imprisoned, beaten, shipwrecked, or hunted by authorities. But when our dark days come, we should be ready to learn, grow, and experience the fullness of God in the midst of our troubles”.

King David said… Even in the unending shadows of death’s darkness, I am not overcome by fear. Because You are with me in those dark moments, near with Your protection and guidance, I am comforted (Psalm 23:4 Voice).

Beloved, this is the last Sunday in the month of August. The Bible says… and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony… (Revelation 12:11 NKJV). Surely, you have a testimony that says “I MADE IT ANYWAY”. You need to bare that in mind so that when things get really tough, like our feature text says… We again place our hope in Him alone, and we know He will deliver us.

“O Lord, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib’s words of defiance against the living God. “It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all these nations. And they have thrown the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all—only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands. Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power; then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God.” (2 Kings 19:14-19 NLT)

Beloved, we are definitely in a season where the devil is using many threatening tactics. Perhaps, you are in a situation where all kinds of threatening letters are coming in but you must never lose your footing. The enemy is only trying to disarm you. Yes, he may have succeeded in the past but not this time. Not now that you’ve kept your ground and have been faithful to God.

Hear King Hezekiah’s story whom the enemy tried so hard to intimidate… The Assyrian king’s chief of staff told them to give this message to Hezekiah: “…What are you trusting in that makes you so confident?… Who are you counting on, that you have rebelled against me?… “But perhaps you will say to me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God!’… (2 Kings 18:19-22 NLT)

The threat and intimidation continued… “This message is for King Hezekiah of Judah. Don’t let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you with promises that Jerusalem will not be captured by the king of Assyria. You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different? Have the gods of other nations rescued them… (2 Kings 19:10-12 NLT)

Beloved, rather than fret, our feature text tells us King Hezekiah spread his case before the Lord. He prayed and he worshiped God. That’s how to magnify God above your problems and here’s what happened… That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers…Then King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and returned to his own land. He went home… and stayed there. One day while he was worshiping in the temple of his god…, his sons… killed him with their swords… (2 Kings 19:35-37 NLT)

Beloved, END OF STORY! King Hezekiah didn’t have to lift a finger. You need to know that you serve a big God who promises that… “I myself will move against him… (2 Kings 19:7 NLT). Step into your prayer closet and worship this big God.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God (Psalm 20:7 NKJV).

05. August 2016 · Comments Off on OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF HEAVINESS · Categories: Deliverance, Depression, Jesus Christ, Joy, Praise, Restoration

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, THE GARMENT OF PRAISE FOR THE SPIRIT OF HEAVINESS… (Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV)

Beloved, have you ever been in a situation where one minute you’re happy but the next minute you’re down? It’s almost like all of a sudden, you can feel a heavy weight of despair come over you and you really can’t understand how or why you got there.

Yesterday, I received a message from someone saying they woke up with a heavy heart wondering what exactly was going on in their life. Interestingly, their countenance was different when we spoke a few days before but that’s the spirit of heaviness our feature text is talking about. The NIV says it’s… a spirit of despair while the Expanded Bible says its… the spirit of sadness [discouragement; heavy heart].

The first thing to notice here is that this is not a ‘feeling’ but a spirit sent by the enemy to cause sadness, discouragement, despair, depression etc. How else can a man like the great prophet Elijah be full of great accomplishments one minute and then the next minute you hear him saying… “I have had enough, Lord,” … “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” (1 Kings 19:4 NIV). The enemy had sent fear and intimidation his way that he immediately became so depressed.

How do you overcome it? It’s there in the text… putting on the garment of praise… You need to create an atmosphere of praise and be deliberate about your thinking… whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [FIX YOUR MINDS ON THEM] (Philippians 4:8 AMP).

Also… we use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT).

This involves breaking every stronghold of human reasoning that’s not in line with Gods word. You do this by meditating on what the Lord says to be true about you and not what the enemy is feeding your mind with. Why not begin to cast out any spirit of heaviness? The Spirit of the Lord God is upon you and He brings good news.

26. July 2016 · Comments Off on ‏TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE FACTS OF YOUR SITUATION‏ · Categories: God's Plan, Hope, Jesus Christ, Patience, Perseverance, Praise, Promise, Trusting God

His faith did not fail, ALTHOUGH HE WAS WELL AWARE THAT his impotent body, after nearly 100 years, was as good as dead and that Sarah’s womb, too, was dead. In spite of all this, his faith in God’s promise did not falter. In fact, his faith grew as he gave glory to God because he was supremely confident that God could deliver on His promise (Romans 4:19-21 VOICE).

Beloved, whenever you are presented with an impossible situation, this is always one portion of scripture to keep in front of you because if Abraham was fully aware of the impossible situation that himself and his wife faced, and he still found it in him to believe what God promised which is that he would be the father of many nation, then it proves that truly nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37)

And I love that God honoured his faith because God rewards great faith (Hebrews 11:6). Abraham was fully aware of the facts presented before Him but he made a conscious decision to take his focus of the facts and place it on the God who made the promises because he probably knew very well that ‎once you focus on the facts and meditate on it, you are no longer giving your faith a chance to work‎.

Beloved… faith proceeds from hearing, as we listen to the message about God’s Anointed (Romans 10:17 VOICE)… not ‎by hearing the word of your situation.

The other point to note here is that like someone said, faith comes by hearing and not just reading and this is why you have to keep meditating on the promises of God for your situation until it speaks to you. That’s when you get impregnated by the word and in no time, you are sure to give birth to your promise.

The opposite of this position is to lose hope because once you lose hope, you have nothing to stand on because as we know‎… Faith is the assurance of THINGS YOU HAVE HOPED FOR, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen (Hebrews 11:1 VOICE).

Thinking of the Shunammite woman, she told Elisha… “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” (2 Kings 4:16 NLT). What she was telling Elisha was don’t get my hopes up only for me to be disappointed. She was so afraid of getting her hopes up and then being disappointed but she needed to hope again.

Beloved, what are your eyes fixed on? Have you looked at your situation and lost hope based on what you see? Remember… hope does not involve what we already have or see. For who goes around hoping for what he already has? But if we wait expectantly for things we have never seen, then we hope with true perseverance and eager anticipation (Romans 8:24-25 VOICE).

TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE FACTS OF YOUR SITUATION and just continue to wait on the Lord, praising your way through.
