Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding (Proverbs 3:5 AMP).

Beloved, I remember my brother’s wedding a while back. The day before, we made sure we packed everything we needed including some items in a bag which we left by the front door so we wouldn’t forget it. There’s no way we could ever miss that right? Well, we did, and we didn’t get to find out until we got to the church and I was the one who was told to go back and get it.

I wasn’t happy about it because I felt that by the time I got back, I would have missed the best part of the wedding. However, I had no choice but to drive all the way home and as I opened the door, I was welcomed by a burning smell. I got to the kitchen only to find that we had forgotten something on the cooker. Now, can you imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t gone back when I did?

This reminds me of how disappointed David was when he found out he was not allowed to go to war with the Philistines. He couldn’t understand why… “What have I done to deserve this treatment?” David demanded. “What have you ever found in your servant, that I can’t go and fight the enemies of my lord the king?” (1 Samuel 29:8 NLT)

Well, he didn’t get to go so had to go back home but… when David and his men arrived home at their town of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid into the Negev and Ziklag; they had crushed Ziklag and burned it to the ground. They had carried off the women and children and everyone else… (1 Samuel 30:1-2 NLT).

Beloved, David came back to find that they had been raided. Can you imagine if he had gone to war? Only God knows how long it would have lasted. But because he came back early, he was able to pursue the Amalekites and found them spread out across the fields, eating and drinking and dancing with joy because of the vast amount of plunder they had taken.

David got back everything the Amalekites had taken, and he rescued his two wives. Nothing was missing: small or great, son or daughter, nor anything else that had been taken. David brought everything back. (1 Samuel 30:18-19 NLT)

Beloved, we don’t always understand what God is up to when things don’t go our way but if He opens our eyes to see how He protects us daily, we would be forever grateful. Scripture says… The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever (Psalm 121:7-8 NLT).

You may not always know what the Lord is up to, but you must be confident that He’s got your back. What you think is a disappointment is working out for your good. Like our feature text says, you must trust in the Lord and do not rely on your own understanding.

25. September 2017 · Comments Off on SPEAK OUT! · Categories: Jesus Christ, Testimony

Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies (Psalm 107:2 NLT).

Beloved, not everyone has been called to be a pastor or preacher but everyone has been called to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’ve all been through things that we know that if not for Jesus Christ, we won’t be where we are today. Like David said… “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us (Psalm 124:2-3 NKJV)

There are things God has allowed you to go through and it’s time to start sharing what He has brought you through. Jesus said… “Simon, Simon, satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. AND WHEN YOU HAVE TURNED BACK, STRENGTHEN YOUR BROTHERS.” (Luke 22:31-32 NIV)

You would think that Jesus would have said… I have prayed for you, Simon, that satan would not succeed but instead, Jesus prayed for his faith to carry him through the trial so that he can in turn STRENGTHEN HIS BROTHERS.

One of the ways to strengthen your brothers is to share what the Lord has brought you through. Also, the Bible says… And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and BY THE UTTERANCE OF THEIR TESTIMONY, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. (Revelation 12:11 AMPC)

Beloved, everybody has a testimony and satan would do his very best to keep your mouth shut. You may be facing some challenges and you may feel that you are not where you want to be but the way to overcome is to share your testimony of what the Lord has done so far, no matter how insignificant you may think it is. Maybe you are worried about what people may think but like someone said, the test of real deliverance is transparency. You know you’ve been delivered when you are no longer ashamed of your past. You can openly say to people… “I used to be this person but look at what the Lord has done”.

Beloved, have you got a testimony to share? Surely you must do… It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23 AMPC). Surely, the Lord has been faithful to you… Why not start using your personal pulpit to share your testimony and watch as you rise up to a higher level of overcoming.

“But suddenly, your ruthless enemies will be crushed like the finest of dust. Your many attackers will be driven away like chaff before the wind. SUDDENLY, IN AN INSTANT, I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, will act for you with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm and consuming fire. All the nations fighting against Jerusalem will vanish like a dream! Those who are attacking her walls will vanish like a vision in the night (Isaiah 29:5-7 NLT).

Beloved, when the enemy attacks, we often think God is slow to come to our aid but even before you cry out, He has already seen and heard your cries and would often say ‘be still and know that I am God’. God said to Moses… “I’ve taken A GOOD, LONG LOOK at the affliction of my people in Egypt. I’ve heard their cries for deliverance from their slave masters; I know all about their pain. And now I have come down to help them, pry them loose from the grip of Egypt… (Exodus 3:7-8 MSG)

With God, a GOOD, LONG LOOK often feels like it is a very, very, very LONG LOOK; one that may take many years in human eyes but God is also a ‘SUDDENLY, IN AN INSTANT’ God. After the Lord spoke to Moses, it took some time before they could see any kind of deliverance. In fact, their situation became worse and when God eventually moved on their behalf, it was quite scary. As they left Egypt, their enemies came after them in full force and it seemed there was no way of escape for them… but Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. THE EGYPTIANS YOU SEE TODAY WILL NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN (Exodus 14:13 NLT).

Beloved, we know the story. That same day, they watched as the enemies that had tormented them for many, many years drown in the red sea. As a kid, every Christmas we watched this classic movie on Moses, the Israelites, and the red sea and it was quite a scene and it helped to visualise that moment when it all happened. Now, picture those moments and then meditate on Isaiah 29:5-7. God is the same God yesterday, today and forever. Don’t you think He can do the same on your behalf? What battle are you fighting that Jesus hasn’t already won?

The Bible says… When the Lord brought back His exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” (Psalm 126:1-2 NLT). They couldn’t believe it and it is my prayer that you will also experience such laughter and joy SUDDENLY.

Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born. And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh; all who hear will laugh with me. And she said, WHO WOULD HAVE SAID to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children at the breast? For I have borne him a son in his old age! (Genesis 21:5-7 AMPC)

Beloved, when we read the Bible stories, we must conclude that there’s no case that the Lord has not already dealt with and the interesting thing is that He is an expert at acting when people have decided that this case is closed; let’s bury it.

Sarah received a miracle that shocked her and she said… WHO WOULD HAVE SAID… which simply means that despite the fact that the Lord had made a promise, everyone had concluded that the case was closed. It wasn’t something that they could ever imagine happening… yet Sarah said here I am! I’ve given the old man a son (MSG) … For Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, AT THE SET TIME GOD HAD TOLD HIM (Genesis 21:2 AMPC).

Beloved, the Bible says… You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come (Psalm 102:13 NKJV). The Bible also says… It seemed like a dream, too good to be true, when God returned Zion’s exiles. We laughed, we sang, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. We were the talk of the nations— “God was wonderful to them!” God was wonderful to us; we are one happy people (Psalm 126:1-3 MSG).

I was sharing with my prayer partner that when the Lord says… “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV), I cannot even begin to imagine what else the Lord wants to do because like I said, that there’s no case imaginable that He hasn’t already dealt with.

Beloved, what can be greater than raising the dead back to life? What can be greater than causing a ninety something year old woman to conceive and have a child? What can be greater than all the Bible stories that the Lord is saying we’ve not seen, nor heard or dreamt of? However, God is not a man that would lie (Numbers 23:19). If He said it, then, it means that its possible for Him to do what we’ve never seen or heard of before and I volunteer myself as a recipient of what He has in mind.

Beloved, has the Lord made you a promise? Here’s something to hold on to…

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV).

Why not continue to praise Him?

Now after this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, AND FOR FIVE MONTHS SHE SECLUDED HERSELF COMPLETELY, SAYING, “This is how the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor on me, to take away my disgrace among men.” (Luke 1:24-25 AMP)

Beloved, did you read that clearly? Elizabeth received a miracle from the Lord that she never thought was possible and it left her in awe for five good months. This is the kind of miracle that you can’t tell anybody for fear that they would wake you up from a dream. The Message translation says… It wasn’t long before his wife, Elizabeth, conceived. She went off by herself for five months, relishing her pregnancy. “So, this is how God acts to remedy my unfortunate condition!” she said.

This encouraged me so good because as I read further, I saw that it was the same miracle the angel of the Lord used to encourage Mary when it was her own turn to expect a miracle that would also leave her in awe.

After telling Mary the ridiculous word that she would be impregnated by the Holy Spirit and would have a child, he said… listen, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. FOR WITH GOD NOTHING [IS OR EVER] SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.” Then Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel left her (Luke 1:36-37 AMP).

Beloved, old Elizabeth became pregnant, AND FOR FIVE MONTHS SHE SECLUDED HERSELF COMPLETELY, SAYING, “This is how the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor on me, to take away my disgrace among men. I read this and started counting at the tip of my fingers; we are five months away from the end of this year… August, September, October, November, and December. So, I started to pray that the Lord should give us a miracle in this month that would cause us to ponder for the rest of the year.

Beloved, do you believe this? Mary said… May it be done to me according to your word… It doesn’t matter what has happened in the past. The word of God says… “Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP).

It didn’t matter that Elizabeth and her husband had served faithfully in the past without anything to show for it. In one moment, the Lord did it. He looked with favor on them and took away their disgrace. You are next in line. May it be done to you according to His word.

David danced before the Lord with all his might… but… Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him (2 Samuel 6:14-16 NLT).
Beloved, a few weeks back, while I was still in Africa, I attended a church thanksgiving service and the tradition of the church was that everyone was to leave their seats, dance to the front of the church and give an offering. So, when it was time, my friend and I took off our shoes and let’s just say it was show time. Well, I was still trying to act a little bit reserved but you need to see my friend. She went all out and as she did, there was this particular celebrity that just kept looking at her and probably smiling in amazement. I could almost imagine what she was thinking in her mind and as I looked at her, I’m thinking, “Ma’am, you have no idea. You don’t know the reason behind this undignified praise”.
Beloved, there are some people’s story that you know and when you see them praise God the way they do, you kind of know why they go crazy before the Lord but there are people that may think, “it doesn’t take all that” Others think you must behave a certain way when people are around. “Really? Do you know what it’s cost to come this far? ‎
This was what happened ‎between David and his wife Michal… When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal… came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!” David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!…” (2 Samuel 6:20-22 NLT).
So, what’s really bothering you Michal? Is it jealously? ‎ I like that David said… you haven’t seen anything yet. I would even do worse than this. ‎Do you know where I’m coming from?
Beloved, the interesting thing is that there are times when it’s your praise that keeps you from falling apart. Those are the times when you don’t feel like carrying on but then, the Bible says… let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God… (Hebrews 13:15 NLT)
Beloved… It is not the dead who praise the Lord (Psalm 115:17 NIV). Never allow anyone define how you are to praise God. Don’t put your title before God either. There’s no post that is greater than that of our Lord and I like that He says… “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” (Luke 19:40 NLT).
So, today is Sunday and as you attend church today, are you going to allow the stones take your place? Just think back and remember your journey and give God a praise that He deserves.

And as he thus proceeded with his defense, Festus called out loudly, Paul, you are mad! Your great learning is driving you insane! But Paul replied, I am not mad, most noble Festus, but I am uttering the straight, sound truth. For the king understands about these things well enough, and [therefore] to him I speak with bold frankness and confidence. I am convinced that not one of these things has escaped his notice, FOR ALL THIS DID NOT TAKE PLACE IN A CORNER [in secret]. (Acts 26:24-26 AMPC)

Beloved, in Acts chapter 26, Apostle Paul gives a full account of his life before his encounter with Jesus Christ and he ends with this remarkable statement… FOR ALL THIS DID NOT TAKE PLACE IN A CORNER…

Don’t you think it’s the most beautiful thing when the Lord takes a life that Satan thought was definitely his; a life that no one could possibly see how any good can come of it; a life that was written off and transforms it in front of everybody to see? God is such an expert at such. He takes that life and says… “don’t write it off just yet. You wait until you see what I can do with it. Even the person in question is going to be so surprised at how I can transform their lives”.

Apostle Paul himself once argued with the Lord. He said…“After I returned to Jerusalem, I was praying in the Temple and fell into a trance. I saw a vision of Jesus saying to me, ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem, for the people here won’t accept your testimony about me.’ “‘But Lord,’ I argued, ‘they certainly know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. And I was in complete agreement when your witness Stephen was killed. I stood by and kept the coats they took off when they stoned him.’ (Acts 22:17-20 NLT).

Paul must have said, “Can’t you see all the evil that I did? They know all these about me and they are bound to think that there’s no possible way I can change”.

Hmmm… Satan is such an expert at messing with your mind if you allow him. He has a way of making you replay your past life over and over again in your head so you see yourself as unworthy but… if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

Apostle Paul was a different person now and everybody could testify to that fact because… ALL THIS DID NOT TAKE PLACE IN A CORNER…

Beloved, is your journey, process, stripping… on display right now? Well, some have the privilege of hiding theirs while others don’t. However, like Apostle Paul, there would come a time that it would give such joy to present God’s handiwork to the world. Just wait and see what God does with your life.

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return] (Philippians 1:6 AMP).

Beloved, a few days ago, I asked why we feel we need to worry about time more than the owner of time and I received a comment from a dear sister saying; “God’s timing is best, but when you are going through a 20 year storm or furnace, you definitely ask how long Lord? It is worse, especially when you know that there is nothing too hard for the Lord”.

Well, how does one respond to this? Why is it taking this long Lord? Have you forgotten about our dear sister? Well, let’s see…

Beloved, as it happens, this sister also sent a second message following her first message and the message said; “A testimony from my trip to Uganda. Last week as I checked in at the airport, I was told that my flight was over booked and that I was going to reroute. I just said to the Kenya airways lady as long as I travel on that very day, that’s fine with me because I only had a week in Uganda. Anyway, I was rerouted via Addis Ababa on Ethiopia airlines. I was also compensated £517 for the inconvenience. I bought my ticket £539, so minus £517, my ticket cost me £22. UK to Uganda for £22, now if that’s is not God, then I don’t know! Victory belongs to Jesus”.

Glory hallelujah! Victory definitely belongs to Jesus and yes, it is God. So, my question now is; isn’t He the same God? At least we know He hasn’t deserted our dear sister because He just gave her a mind-blowing testimony and like a friend once said to God; “give me ‘Comfort’ while I’m waiting for ‘Patience’. In order words, while waiting patiently for the promises of God to be fulfilled in my life, at least give me something to comfort me as I wait.

Beloved and He does. The Bible says… Blessed be the Lord, WHO DAILY LOADS US WITH BENEFITS, The God of our salvation! (Psalm 68:19 NKJV)

Please know today that, whatever it is you have been waiting on the Lord for… The Lord will perfect that which concerns you (Psalm 138:8). In the meantime, bless the Lord for all He has done. All He is doing and All He will do.

O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing! He forgives your sins—every one. He heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal. He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence (Psalm 103:1-5 MSG).

God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her (Genesis 17:15-16 NIV).”

Beloved, yesterday was mother’s day and while mother’s day is a joy for many, let’s face it, it is also a day that some women dread because it is packed with mixed feeling for them.

In many churches, it’s a day when mothers are called out to gives testimonies of what it’s like to be a mother but what happens to those that are still in the waiting room, waiting on the Lord for the fruit of the womb? It must be difficult for anyone in that situation because even with my two children, I know what it feels like to be waiting for the fruit of the womb for years. Except you have experienced it, one can’t explain the feeling and I remember always saying… if it feels like this for me, I can’t imagine what it must feel like for someone that hasn’t even got any.

Having said that, we have to turn our attention to the Lord who told Abraham… “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” (Genesis 18:10-14 NLT)

Beloved, we know Sarah’s story. Even when it looked like there was no hope, the Lord changed her name and promised that she would be the mother of nations and it happened just as He said it would. The Lord gave Sarah a new name… THE GOD WHO GIVES LIFE TO THE DEAD AND CALLS INTO BEING THINGS THAT WERE NOT (Romans 4:17 NIV). Then, there was also Elizabeth who… become pregnant in her old age! PEOPLE USED TO SAY SHE WAS BARREN, but she has conceived a son… (Luke 1:36 NLT).

Beloved, do you need a change of name? God is a God WHO GIVES LIFE TO THE DEAD AND CALLS INTO BEING THINGS THAT WERE NOT. What name have you been known by? You can decide to change it by faith today. Give yourself a new name… Call it out… and live it up to God to make things happen.

06. January 2017 · Comments Off on WHY IS MY CASE DIFFERENT? · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Relationship, Restoration, Testimony, Trusting God

Meanwhile, Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah… BUT SARAI WAS UNABLE TO BECOME PREGNANT AND HAD NO CHILDREN (Genesis 11:29-30 NLT).

Beloved, as I was reading our feature text, I could just imagine Sarah asking; Why is my case different? We both got married, however, there’s a ‘but’ in my situation. Why is it that when it comes to my case there’s always a ‘but’?

Beloved, have you ever been there? Why can’t my life just be normal like everyone else? We see the same thing with Hannah. We are told that her husband… had two wives… Hannah and… Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children (1 Samuel 1:2 NKJV).

Beloved, the painful thing is that the Lord would not allow it to be kept a secret. Many would be able to handle that but He puts you on display and I remember the wife of a very prominent preacher once said she had to ask the Lord; if you have to break me like this, do you have to do it in public? However, how else would people know about what the Lord is going to do in your life?

King David said… You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies… (Psalm 23:5 NKJV). What he didn’t tell us was that this same enemies probably witnessed the periods he had to go hungry.

Beloved, right from the first time Sarah was mentioned in the Bible, her condition was mentioned and I can just imagine how she felt seeing the Lord bless everyone else around her which is the other thing the Lord is also good at doing. You even blessed my housemaid with the same thing I have been crying day and night about. We know the story. Out of desperation, Sarah gave her maid to Abraham and… and she conceived; and when she realized that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress [REGARDING SARAI AS INSIGNIFICANT because of her infertility] (Genesis 16:4 AMP).

Beloved, have you had people treat you like you are nothing just because of the situation you’ve found yourself in? Actually, let me scrap that; have you had people treat you like you are nothing just because of the situation the Lord put you in? Well, perhaps they failed to keep reading. A time came when Sarah’s story changed. She gave birth… And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me. Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby?… ” (Genesis 21:6-7 NLT)

Beloved, why is my case different? Well, Sarah didn’t give birth to any ordinary son neither did Hannah and if you want their testimony, then don’t expect to be like everyone else. Just focus on Jesus… the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Your joy is set before you!
