For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

Beloved, I remember visiting a friend once and her mum who was with her at the time looked so ill that I had to ask if she was sick. She said yes but my friend interrupted and asked her what her sickness was. She couldn’t give a straight answer but you could see fear written all over her face so with my big mouth, I went straight to the point and asked her what she was afraid of and then she mentioned something about not wanting to die abroad. Hmmm… As she’s well over 70, the fear of death has gripped her so badly that she had convinced herself that she was actually sick and somehow, she’s passed it on to my friend who became worried because looking at mum gave her a picture of how she was going to be at that age. Everyone now had something to be afraid of because unknown to many, fear is satan’s favourite weapon used masterfully against us.

Beloved, someone rightly said FEAR is the enemy’s brand of FAITH; his counterfeit of it and just as you receive from God through faith, you receive from satan through fear. Job said… The worst of my fears has come true, what I’ve dreaded most has happened (Job 3:25 MSG). So, is there any wonder why satan came knocking at his door?

Beloved, as God’s children, our attitude towards fear should be; ‘I WILL NOT LIVE IN FEAR’ because according to our feature text… God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind… so when the enemy threatens you, threaten him back.

The Lord says… Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice (Isaiah 41:10 AMPC).

Beloved, we are told to cast… down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV). Today, if you have allowed fear to rule you, why not take a bold step and cast out that spirit of fear that is threatening to rule your life? It’s for freedom that Christ has set you free and I pray that you walk in this freedom and show satan he’s fighting a defeated battle.

But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel! (Matthew 8:8-10 NLT)

Beloved, in the movie ‘War room’, there was a scene where a knife man came up to Elizabeth and Miss Clara and Elizabeth was willing to give him her purse but Miss Clara looked him straight in the eye and boldly said “You put that knife right down in the name of Jesus” and he did to the amazement of even the policemen and then she said something like its peoples decision to give their money to a thief”. Her response talks about choices.

Now that’s authority but not everybody has that kind of authority or should I say not everyone exercises that kind of authority. However, we need to. In our feature text, the officer clearly understood how authority works and as a result… Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour (Matthew 8:13 NLT).

Beloved, based on the kind of revelation that Simon Peter had, Jesus told him… “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17-19 NLT)

I’ll give you kingdom keys based on revelation – of who I am, who you are and what you can demand. Beloved, one of the things the Lord told me was that this is a year to work in your authority. Queen Esther had to rise to a certain level of authority and demand that certain laws be changed and it involved revelation of who she was, what she was called to do and off course courage.

Beloved, there’s a certain authority you walk in that demands an audience. It is the kind that the Lord sanctions. On the mount of transfiguration, we are told that… a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. LISTEN TO HIM.” (Matthew 17:5 NLT). This is different from when Jesus was baptised. We are told that… suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17 NKJV)

However, it’s now LISTEN TO HIM… Who listens to you?

SELAH!

If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14 NLT)

Beloved, Happy New Year to you. We made it! Glory be to God. So, what has this year got in stock for us? Well, last year someone shared a vision that someone had where the Lord showed them what their friend was going through and after showing them, the Lord said to them “so what are you going to do about it?” “Me? Why are you asking me?” Well, they eventually got over themselves and told the Lord what they would like to do about it and that was the end of the vision but a few days later, exactly what they saw about their friend happened and as they declared what they had told the Lord they wanted to do about it, their request was granted.

Beloved, 2017 is going to be that kind of year where those that the Lord has been preparing would rise up and walk in their authority to decree the change they want to see. After 12 months of preparation, Esther married the king and in our feature text, Mordecai challenged Esther and told her that she was put in position for a time like this and Esther had to rise up to the occasion.

She went straight to the king and… the king extended his gold scepter to Esther. She got to her feet and stood before the king. She said, “If it please the king and he regards me with favor and thinks this is right, and if he has any affection for me at all, let an order be written that cancels the bulletins authorizing the plan of Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite to annihilate the Jews in all the king’s provinces. How can I stand to see this catastrophe wipe out my people? How can I bear to stand by and watch the massacre of my own relatives?” King Xerxes said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew: “I’ve given Haman’s estate to Esther and he’s been hanged on the gallows because he attacked the Jews. So go ahead now and write whatever you decide on behalf of the Jews; then seal it with the signet ring.” (An order written in the king’s name and sealed with his signet ring is irrevocable.) (Esther 8:4-8 MSG)

Beloved, if this word is for you, the baby in your womb would leap. Some of you would find yourself in positions where you would stand as arbitrators, mediators and even policy changers etc. Don’t be afraid. You’ve been given keys… favour… authority…

Jesus told Peter… I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19 NLT)

How am I supposed to see the king? It’s known throughout the land, from the greatest of the king’s officials to the common folk who live in the provinces, that any person who approaches the king in the inner chamber without being invited is sentenced to death. That’s the law! There’s only one exception, and that’s if the king were to hold out the gold scepter to that person and spare his or her life. It’s been 30 days since the king last summoned me! (Esther 4:11 Voice)

Beloved, we know the story of Esther; an orphan who became queen. Queen Vashti who was the current queen refused to answer the call of her husband (Esther 1:11-12) and that was the end of her. However, it was part of God’s grand design to make room for Esther whom He had been preparing behind the scenes.

Esther then had to go through another year of preparation to make herself presentable for the king and for many, 2016 has been that year of preperation. Esther was placed in Hegai’s care… He quickly ordered a special menu for her and provided her with BEAUTY TREATMENTS. He also assigned her seven maids specially chosen from the king’s palace, and he moved her and her maids into the best place in the harem… She was given the prescribed twelve months of BEAUTY TREATMENTS—six months with oil of myrrh, followed by six months with special perfumes and ointments… Choice of whatever CLOTHING OR JEWELRY she wanted…And the king loved Esther… He was so delighted with her that he set the ROYAL CROWN on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti (Esther 2:9-17).

So, Esther now becomes queen because she nailed it with her appearance but all the appearance in the world would have been for nothing if her mindset didn’t change. I can just imagine that regardless of what people saw on the outside, and even what she saw in the mirror, she still saw herself as an orphan instead of the queen whom the Lord had given favour and access to high places.

And unfortunately, no amount of BEAUTY TREATMENTS, CLOTHING, JEWELRY or CROWN could change that. It took Mordecai to challenge her thinking. He told Esther… It may very well be that you have achieved royal status for such a time as this! (Esther 4:14 NET).

She had to address her mindset. As a result… Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace across from the king’s rooms. The king was sitting on his throne facing the palace entrance. He was pleased when he noticed Queen Esther waiting in the court. He extended his gold scepter with his hand, inviting her in. Esther walked toward him, and when she was close enough, she reached out and touched the king’s scepter (Esther 5:1-2 Voice).

Beloved, the Lord may well be trying to get you to see that “I have given you favour. I have given you authority… put on your royal robes, reach out and touch the king’s scepter… I have been preparing you for a time like this…”

He was pleased when he noticed Queen Esther waiting in the court. He extended his gold scepter with his hand, inviting her in. Esther walked toward him, and when she was close enough, she reached out and touched the king’s scepter. What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? I’ll give you anything—even half of my kingdom—all you need to do is ask (Esther 5:2-3 Voice).

Beloved, yesterday we looked at Mordecai’s ability to trust God for deliverance. Today, the focus is on Esther who needed to make a courageous move to plead her case before the king but had to first challenge her fears because the enemy is an expert at bombarding our minds with reasonable arguments why we can’t take bold steps and to be honest, the facts about some situations can be intimidating. It could be something that’s never been done before and the devil would come up with the consequences of your proposed actions so you dare not make a move.

Esther feared that the king would kill her. She said… How am I supposed to see the king? It’s known throughout the land, from the greatest of the king’s officials to the common folk who live in the provinces, that any person who approaches the king in the inner chamber without being invited is sentenced to death. That’s the law! There’s only one exception, and that’s if the king were to hold out the gold scepter to that person and spare his or her life. It’s been 30 days since the king last summoned me! (Esther 4:11 Voice)

Esther was afraid but fear is usually from the enemy. Even if what he said was a fact and involved a high level of risk, history makers have to take certain amounts of risk. Esther made up her mind that… “I will go in to the king and plead my people’s case, even though it means breaking the law. And IF I DIE, THEN I DIE!” (Esther 4:16 Voice)

IF I DIE, THEN I DIE… Beloved, you can see from our feature text that Esther didn’t die. Rather, she found grace. The king was pleased to see her and he gave her a blank cheque.

Perhaps this is speaking to you today? Do you have to approach someone or a system but the enemy has bombarded your mind with all sorts of reasons why you shouldn’t go to that person and make your request? Perhaps you need to resolve issues with someone and the enemy is telling you that they wouldn’t take it well. But what if on the contrary, they would admire your boldness and be happy that you made a move.

Beloved, things may not be as bad as you think. Don’t allow satan’s argument cause you to entertain fear. Remember… God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

07. June 2016 · Comments Off on RELYING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT‏ FOR COURAGEOUS CONFIDENCE‏ · Categories: Action, Authority, Courage, Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ

And now, Lord, take note of their intimidations intended to silence us. Grant us, Your servants, the courageous confidence we need to go ahead and proclaim Your message… They finished their prayer, and immediately the whole place where they had gathered began to shake. All the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began speaking God’s message with courageous confidence (Acts 4:29-31 VOICE).

Beloved, are you facing an intimidating situation where you have to be bold and courageous and you are just not feeling up to facing it? Well, I’ve been there but the Lord always makes me realise that He doesn’t raise cowards and though I haven’t always done confrontations with the right spirit, however, that’s why we need the Holy Spirit (THE RIGHT SPIRIT!!!).

Have you tried asking for the Holy Spirit to fill you with the boldness and courage you need? In our feature text, the disciples prayed for courageous confidence and as they finished praying, they were… filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began speaking God’s message with courageous confidence.

Beloved, many people in the world turn to alcohol to give them false confidence and courage when they have to face some difficult situations‎ and when you hear them talking under its influence, you would be like “who is this person? What has come over you?” Well, it’s the effect of alcohol and I guess that’s the same effect the disciple’s got when they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

According to my Bible notes “the Holy Spirit changes everyone and everything. If there is any doubt about the power of the Spirit, just take a look at Peter. When Jesus was captured, Peter cowered in fear that he might be identified as a man who loved Jesus. Now this same man is preaching, healing, and pointing his finger in the face of Jewish officials who have captured him and John. WITH A BOLDNESS THAT IS NOT HIS OWN, he blames them for the death of Jesus and does not cower at their show of violence”.

WITH A BOLDNESS THAT IS NOT HIS OWN… Beloved, we need to keep reminding ourselves of this truth that it is never in our own strength… “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies (Zechariah 4:6 NLT).

Also, recently, I was sharing with someone that courage and boldness is not about the ability to shout and come across as intimidating or in the show of violence. It’s about the authority that you have and that’s the kind of authority that the Holy Spirit gives where you can remain cool, calm and collected and just say the words backed by His authority.

Beloved, do you need the courageous confidence to do what it is that you need to do? Why not pray like the disciples did?

‎‎Last night God’s angel stood at my side, an angel of this God I serve, saying to me, ‘Don’t give up, Paul. You’re going to stand before Caesar yet—and everyone sailing with you is also going to make it.’ So, dear friends, take heart. I believe God will do exactly what He told me. (Acts 27:23-25 NLT).

I just came back from a trip which had me getting on planes 4 different times and each time I boarded, I made this prayer… “Lord, because I’m on this plane going on your assignment,‎ nothing would happen to it” and so, every time they started to go over the safety information, I took to praying.

‎It so happened that as I was returning from one destination, as the captain announced that we should fasten our seat belts because we were about to land, the lady sitting next to me picked up her safety card, called one of the air hostess and started asking… “What does this and that mean? Hmmm… the air hostess tried to explain to her but trust my people for being very religious, she did it in a very dismissive way, telling the lady that it was only for an emergency and that nothing was going to happen because God was with us. However, this lady continued asking. That’s when I looked at her and in my mind said… “Young lady, who sent you? I don’t know who you are or what your mission is on this flight but as a servant of the Most High God, I take authority and nullify every plan of the enemy”. We were both looking at each other and smiling but unknown to her, all the while, I was speaking in tongues until we landed safely.

Now, I’m not saying for sure that she was on any evil assignment ‎but if there’s anything my spiritual mum has taught me is to rather be wrong than sorry. Hmmm… You didn’t ask questions when they were going over the safety instructions, why is it now that we are just about to land that you want to know… what does this mean????

And you expect me to seat down there listening to the air hostess explain what that position is. Before you know it, the devil has a way of injecting fear into one which then gives birth to what he desires. But the devil is a liar.

I told God again‎, “I’m returning from your assignment so nothing is going to happen to this plane because of me”.

Beloved, this is not the time to walk in fear like your unsaved colleagues/acquaintances. No matter, the situation, you need to take authority. Like Paul, you must have confident in this God that you serve to say “because of me, nothing is going to happen to… this company… this car… this bus… this train… this plane…this????

Just remember the Lord’s promises to you that is still yet to happen and know that you are secure.

God bless you

The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a Man who told me everything I ever did! Could He possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see Him (John 4:28-29 NLT).

Yesterday, I spoke at a youth event themed ‘the meaning of love in the 21st century’ and as someone that’s divorced twice, I spoke on the topic; ‘why are we not growing old together?’

I was excited about the event because the Lord has told me I’m going to work with the youths because they are so lost and I’m able to speak their language. However, when I got there, it was something else. Firstly, I came with one of my young mentees who was going to be ministering in songs. I assumed it was going to be gospel but when she started practising, I had to ask… “is that the song you’re going to sing?” “Yes aunty”. Okaaaay????… does your ‘STRICT’ pastor dad know? “Yes, I’ve been practicing at home”. Okaaaay????… No wonder he’s asked me to book an appointment to see him. LOL…

Secondly, hmmm… when I started seeing some of the youths and how they were dressed, especially a group of boys that run a YouTube channel called ‘let’s talk about it’…

And then the views on… monogamy, dating, premarital sex etc… hmmm. I was seating in the audience so well-blended and I’m thinking… please… don’t ever put this on YouTube.

However, I was glad I was able to hear them out and when it got to my turn, I told them yes I’m a minister but I’m not here to preach. Let’s just talk about my story in my book. Hmmm… By the time I finished, a young lady walked up to me and said… please I haven’t been to church in 6 years, can you give me your church address? Also, a young Chinese lady came and said I would love to do a documentary on your story. Another young white lady came and said when you were talking about seeing yourself as a good thing (Proverbs 18:22) before you get married, she was really moved because she’s currently struggling with identity and esteem issues so like the Chinese lady, I told her “if I give you my book, would you read it?” She said YES, so I gave her a free copy which ends with the salvation prayer. hmmm…

And then the ‘let’s talk about it’ crew were all over me… Aunty, just share a bit of what you said… we want to air it on our channel. We also want to work with you in future and I’m thinking… It works every time. My daughter couldn’t stop talking about it… mummy… “the anointing and unction that flows from you when you speak”.

It’s brokenness dear. When you break a pot that has been filled with oil, the oil just pours out uncontrollably. It’s also the power of your testimony. The Samaritan woman was created for a significant purpose, but she wasn’t necessarily equipped in the world’s eyes. So Jesus started her off with a simple tool—“her story”. She went about telling people about her experience and people came rushing to meet Jesus.

Have you got a story people need to hear?

God bless you

During my short visit to Africa, I remember the day some mobile policemen stopped us. I had some errands to run so after dropping my friend’s sister at the office, she kindly allowed her driver to take me around town.

Unfortunately, we got stopped by these policemen who sure knew how to intimidate people with their guns. They got into a heated argument with the driver and one thing led to another and they asked one of the armed men to enter the car and take us to the station.

I tried to intervene but something I said to try and lighten the mood made them even angrier. They started shouting; take them to the station… take them to the station. At that point, knowing all the terrifying news I’ve heard about their notorious activities, I quickly called my friends sister. Hearing all noise in the background, she asked where we were and quickly rushed down with a colleague to meet us.

When she arrived, she asked what the problem was but instead of answering directly, they kept on shouting. They were definitely trying to intimidate her. I say what is the problem? You want to see the owner of the car; here I am. However, they went on and on…take them to the station. But then she said those words… I BE LAWYER O (meaning please know that I’m a lawyer). Don’t start what you can’t finish. If we go to the station, we would follow this matter to the end, she said.

My God… I could not believe what happened next. The same man that was shouting on top of his voice, immediately calmed down. He quickly took a look at the guy that accompanied her standing there calmly without saying a word. He too was a lawyer. My friend started asking them questions about their own identity and their car and what right they had to be there stopping people. Hmmm… I tell you; the whole story changed.

Now, that’s someone that knows who she is, knows her right and the authority she carries and thinking about it now, I wish as Christians, we all knew the authority we carry. The devil would know not to mess with us. Remember the evil demons said… Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” (Acts 19:15 NIV)

My friend didn’t stop there. She turned to her driver and started to have a go at him. Why didn’t you respond to them nicely? Even my father that is a retired general; when they stop him, he responds nicely. Obviously, she said that to make the policemen know she’s not one to be messed with. I AM NOT JUST A LAWYER. MY FATHER IS A…

Hmmm… What am I trying to say here? That’s the kind of authority all believers should display… Those who know their God… You, dear children, ARE FROM GOD AND HAVE OVERCOME THEM, BECAUSE THE ONE WHO IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN THE ONE WHO IS IN THE WORLD (1 John 4:4 NIV).

God bless you
