Then I said to them, “You see the bad situation that we are in–how Jerusalem is desolate and lies in ruins and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, and let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, so that we will no longer be a disgrace.” THEN I TOLD THEM HOW THE HAND OF MY GOD HAD BEEN FAVORABLE TO ME and also about the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they thoroughly supported the good work (Nehemiah 2:17‭-‬18 AMP).

Beloved, we find in our feature text that people agreed to support the work Nehemiah was doing because they saw the favour of God on him. I love the fact that he didn’t have to tell them about all his accolades. He didn’t have to tell them about all the things that he had achieved and all that before they agreed to join him and build and that’s because when there’s favour on your life, it speaks for itself and people would want to tap into that favour. Who gets the king to approve what you are doing?

Beloved, the reason I am highlighting this is because there are things that speak greater than money. There are people that have got a vision to build something for the Lord but can’t step out because of the million and one questions they have; where is the money going to come from? Who is going to support my vision? And that’s the other thing. According to my bible notes “Nehemiah emphasised that it was not just his own idea to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. The idea had come to him from the Lord”.

Beloved, that is key. When God sends you to do anything for Him, He backs it up with everything that you need and again it is about His favour because when the Lords hand of favour is on you, people would begin to favour you. For example, the things that you would normally have to acquire with money would just come to you. Doors that you never imagined would open for you, would start to open up for you and that is because the Lord says… I will give him the key to the house of David—the highest position in the royal court. When he opens doors, no one will be able to close them; when he closes doors, no one will be able to open them. He will bring honor to his family name, for I will drive him firmly in place like a nail in the wall (Isaiah 22:22-23 NLT).

Beloved, we are told that… Samuel… grew in favor with the Lord and with the people (1 Samuel 2:26 NLT). We are also told that… Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people (Luke 2:52 NLT).

So, as you obediently submit yourself to the Lord’s process of growth and refinement, you begin to attain such favour that would speak for itself. Wait for it!

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come (Psalm 102:13 NKJV).

Beloved, I am currently in Africa and while I was getting ready, after packing and repacking for my trip, I got to the point where I concluded that I couldn’t avoid not carrying excess luggage and so, I just decided that I was going to pay for the excess.

It was with that mind that I arrived at the airport and after weighing my luggage’s, I went straight to the section for excess luggage but the gentleman told me that I first had to go to the counter to check in and they would direct me on what to do. So, when I asked him which counter to go to, he said I could either go to the ones on the left or right. However, as I walked towards the left, a lady stopped me and said I should go to the right. I did as was instructed and when I got to the counter, the first thing I said was that I have to pay for excess luggage but the lady’s reply to me was “no you don’t”. At that point, I’m thinking, “okay, I’m the one that packed my suitcase and I know how much it weighs. However, what she said next blew me away. She said, “do you mean that your suitcase is in excess of the allowed baggage allowance? Don’t worry, I would check you in. I’m from the Caribbean and I know that when we travel, we need to carry a lot of things for people back home.

Beloved, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. But I did what the typical African woman would do. I started to remove stuff from my hand‎bag that was already so heavy and put them in my boxes. I even started regretting why I had left some things behind.

My son was with me and he couldn’t believe his eyes either. He looked at me and said wow. Mum that’s favor. Yes, son, it is. More than 10kg in excess of the baggage allowance.

‎Beloved, that was favor. At the event I ministered at that weekend, the host was talking about how God spoke to her about blessing His people with visible and invisible money. For me, this was invisible money…. FAVOR, where God says put your money away. You don’t have to pay for what others have to pay for.

I was so grateful that apart from telling the lady a thousand and one ‘thank yous’, I offered to give her a copy of my magazine but when I told her it was a Christian magazine, she rejected it saying that she wasn’t a Christain. Well, you don’t have to be a Christian to bless me. I immediately thought about Joseph who found favor in Potiphar’s house (Genesis 39:4). Also, the Bible says… The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases (Proverbs 21:1 NLT).

Beloved, I say all this to say we are in the season. The set time to favor Zion has come. The Lord would position people in places where you didn’t expect to favor you. Expect it and watch out for it.

And Adam knew Eve as his wife, and she became pregnant and bore Cain; and she said, I have gotten and gained a man WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD. And [next] she gave birth to his brother Abel… (Genesis 4:1-2 AMPC).

Beloved, Happy mother’s day to all you wonderful mothers and mothers to be out there. I have great news for you… NOTHING CAN STOP YOU! I was just reflecting on all the agony Eve had to go through. From her very first appearance on the scene of this earth, the devil was after her. Yes, she fell. Yes her actions had consequences but no matter how she struggled… No matter what life brought her way, she PREVAILED. She had to go through hard labour but WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Because of the enmity between the offspring of satan and her offspring (Genesis 3:15), there was war in her household and even after she lost both sons, her story did not end there, she… again became pregnant, and she bore a son and called his name Seth. For God, she said, has appointed for me another child…(Genesis 4:25 AMPC)… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, since that time, women struggled with all sorts of issues. Barrenness was top on the list but when the world thought it was all over for Sarah, Rachael, Rebecca, Hannah, Elizabeth and the like, the Lord changed their stories… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… they PREVAILED…

And then the angel of the Lord appeared to one very special woman… And he came to her and said, Hail, O favored one [endued with grace]! The Lord is with you! Blessed (favored of God) are you before all other women!…And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace (free, spontaneous, absolute favor and loving-kindness) with God. And listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus (Luke 1:28-31 AMPC).

The enemy fought that Son… He was crucified. Mary probably thought she had lost Him forever but He resurrected… He ascended in to Heaven and… On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place…. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them (Acts 2:1,3 NLT). That was the Holy Spirit coming to dwell inside of them. Mary, the mother of Jesus was there (Acts 1:14). She felt her Son inside her once again… She was a favored one… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, such would be your case… you would keep on PREVAILING. On this special mother’s day, you blessed woman, favored of God, may you receive a special visitation from the Lord. May you receive gifts that you know… THIS CAN ONLY BE GOD.

One day Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favour…” The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me… and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart…” The Lord replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.” Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” (Exodus 33:12-18 NLT)

Beloved, I’m at that point where I have 1001 things to do in a very short space of time and so I’m struggling with time but the Lord has been making me meditate on the story of Moses who got to the point in his journey where he figured out what was really important. This is a case of you can go ahead and do the things you have to do or spend time pursuing what you need most for this next phase of your journey.

Instead of moving ahead, Moses said… I want Your presence. The New King James Version translation says… And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” By this time, the Lord had used Moses to do so many mighty acts but none of that was important to him. It was now about His presence because after the signs and wonders, you could still get to that point where you still feel empty, worn out and angry with the world in Moses’ case.

Moses said… let me know Your ways so I may understand You more fully and continue to enjoy Your favor… and I believe he was saying “I want to understand You more so I can reap the full benefits of Your favour”

The Lord then talks about rest… I will give you rest; an area where many are struggling but I’m reminded of the Scripture that says…

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones (Psalm 127:1-2 NLT).

The Amplified says… It is vain for you to rise early, to retire late, to eat the bread of anxious labors— For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.

Beloved, where’s your focus? We all want to be able to enjoy His presence… His glory… His favour… His rest… and we would only get to that place when there’s a change of focus.

And My God shall supply all your need according to His riches IN GLORY by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 NKJV).

Beloved, last Sunday, in church, as I listened to what the Holy Spirit was saying about our feature text, the word “in glory” stood out to me and the Lord began to talk to me about the fact that everything I ever need is found in His glory. I couldn’t shake the word and on Monday, as I joined my prayer partner in prayer, it’s all we could talk about.

We began to talk about Moses who told the Lord… If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know Your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor… The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place…The Lord replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.” Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” (Exodus 33:13-18 NLT)

New King James Version says… “Please, show me Your glory.”

Beloved, this ought to be your prayer which is that… If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place… Please, show me Your glory…

As it happens, our prayer experience moved in a way that we hadn’t experienced in a while and the last time we met before then, we humbly came before the Lord to ask for a strategy for moving forward and for some strange reason, we struggled with weakness that weekend. My friend was even given drip because she was worn out. However, as we came together, the Lord took us to what Apostle Paul prayed for.

He said… that He would grant you, according to the riches of HIS GLORY, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man (Ephesians 3:16 NKJV).

HIS GLORY… There’s that word again… The New Living translation says… I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit.

Beloved, whatever you need; be it strength or whatever, you would find it when you go after His glory and our prayer should be to pray for His glory to come down like the song that says… “We wait for You… To walk in the room… Here we are standing in Your presence… Shekinah glory come down… Release the fullness of Your Spirit

Beloved, if you are looking for the word from the Lord going forward, it is that you pursue His glory. Meditate on Scriptures and worship songs that speak of His glory and as you do so, ask for His glory to come down till it crushes everything that’s not of Him in and around you and grants you access to everything stored up in His glory.

So Ruth went out to gather grain behind the harvesters. And as it happened, she found herself working in a field that belonged to Boaz, the relative of her father-in-law, Elimelech. While she was there, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters. “The Lord be with you!” he said. “The Lord bless you!” the harvesters replied. Then Boaz asked his foreman, “WHO IS THAT YOUNG WOMAN OVER THERE? WHO DOES SHE BELONG TO?” (Ruth 2:3-5 NLT)

Beloved, the first thing to notice about our feature text is that someone stood out amongst the crowd and we all know that when you immediately start to ask about a person’s background, they must have left an impression on you. That person happened to be Ruth… The foreman replied, “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi. (Ruth 2:6 NIV).

What’s interesting here is that Boaz had already heard about Ruth and her reputation was already impressive but then for her presence to also stand out is amazing. Oh so she’s the one everyone’s being talking about? I’m not surprised then. Beloved, that is called living up to your reputation.

Boaz asked… WHO IS THAT YOUNG WOMAN OVER THERE? WHO DOES SHE BELONG TO? and they replied “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi…

Beloved, that’s a loaded statement. She is the one that had a bad experience in life but chose not to allow it hold her back. Rather, she made a decision to leave everything about her past behind and follow the Lord wholeheartedly. That’s what this statement is really saying.

Beloved, tough times are times that could easily tempt us away from God but do you know that surrendering everything to Him and allowing Him work in and through you can only lead to people asking… WHO DOES THAT PERSON BELONG TO?

Ruth immediately tapped into God’s initial provision for her (Leviticus 19:9-10, Deuteronomy 24:19-22). But she had to take the initiative and make some moves and she was hopeful. We are told that… One day Ruth… said to Naomi, “Let me go out into the harvest fields to pick up the stalks of grain left behind by anyone who is kind enough to let me do it.” Naomi replied, “All right, my daughter, go ahead.” (Ruth 2:2 NLT). We are also told that she was also hardworking and used the time wisely. They foreman said… She came into the field and has remained here from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.” (Ruth 2:7 NIV) I’m also sure she did everything with a good attitude.

Beloved, we may not know it but how we carry ourselves especially when going through our wilderness seasons matter a lot because we never know who might just be watching. Boaz was watching Ruth and we don’t know for how long. You never know who the Lord has positioned to watch you.

SELAH!

He was pleased when he noticed Queen Esther waiting in the court. He extended his gold scepter with his hand, inviting her in. Esther walked toward him, and when she was close enough, she reached out and touched the king’s scepter. What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? I’ll give you anything—even half of my kingdom—all you need to do is ask (Esther 5:2-3 Voice).

Beloved, yesterday we looked at Mordecai’s ability to trust God for deliverance. Today, the focus is on Esther who needed to make a courageous move to plead her case before the king but had to first challenge her fears because the enemy is an expert at bombarding our minds with reasonable arguments why we can’t take bold steps and to be honest, the facts about some situations can be intimidating. It could be something that’s never been done before and the devil would come up with the consequences of your proposed actions so you dare not make a move.

Esther feared that the king would kill her. She said… How am I supposed to see the king? It’s known throughout the land, from the greatest of the king’s officials to the common folk who live in the provinces, that any person who approaches the king in the inner chamber without being invited is sentenced to death. That’s the law! There’s only one exception, and that’s if the king were to hold out the gold scepter to that person and spare his or her life. It’s been 30 days since the king last summoned me! (Esther 4:11 Voice)

Esther was afraid but fear is usually from the enemy. Even if what he said was a fact and involved a high level of risk, history makers have to take certain amounts of risk. Esther made up her mind that… “I will go in to the king and plead my people’s case, even though it means breaking the law. And IF I DIE, THEN I DIE!” (Esther 4:16 Voice)

IF I DIE, THEN I DIE… Beloved, you can see from our feature text that Esther didn’t die. Rather, she found grace. The king was pleased to see her and he gave her a blank cheque.

Perhaps this is speaking to you today? Do you have to approach someone or a system but the enemy has bombarded your mind with all sorts of reasons why you shouldn’t go to that person and make your request? Perhaps you need to resolve issues with someone and the enemy is telling you that they wouldn’t take it well. But what if on the contrary, they would admire your boldness and be happy that you made a move.

Beloved, things may not be as bad as you think. Don’t allow satan’s argument cause you to entertain fear. Remember… God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

Finally Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen. After all, we are close relatives! The whole countryside is open to you. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I’ll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I’ll go to the left.” (Genesis 13:8-9 NLT)‎

Beloved, I read this and thought to myself that when you know that the Lord’s hand is on your life you don’t fight with people over stuff. “Oh you want to fight me for that? Okay go ahead and take whatever you want and see how far it gets you… just go ahead and do what you see me doing and see how far you can get along”. There are people that covetously want what you’ve got or want to do what you’re doing but they don’t realise the blessing isn’t in the thing but on the fact that the Lord’s hand is on the thing.

‎In Abrahams case, it wasn’t about the type of land but about the Lord releasing His blessing over the land. Abraham settled for what Lot saw as infertile but… after Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession. And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.”‎ (Genesis 13:14-17 NLT)

Beloved, you don’t just want to go after or waste your time arguing with people over material things. What you want to go after are the things that the Lord’s favour is on and the Lord has been making me see that this year is a year to go after His blessings; things that He has His hand on.

This immediately brings to mind what Moses told the Lord… “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.” (Exodus 33:15-16 VOICE).

Beloved, it’s the Jesus-factor that makes the difference… The blessing of the Lord brings [true] riches, And He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God] (Proverbs 10:22 AMP). The Voice (VOICE) translation says… The blessing of the Eternal is what makes someone rich… so, if you find yourself in such a situation and they want it so bad, let them have it while you hold on to the Lord.

‎After the famine ended she returned from the land of the Philistines, and she went to see the king about getting back her house and land. As she came in, the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. The king had just said, “Tell me some stories about the great things Elisha has done.” And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land. “Look, my lord the king!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the woman now, and this is her son—the very one Elisha brought back to life!” (2 kings 8:3-5 NLT)

Reading this story about the Shunammite woman, the first thing that came to mind was, “Lord, may I be at the right place at the right time”. It so happened that as I was jotting this down, I received one of my daily devotional by email and this is what it said… “God wants you to have the right timing—His timing, and He wants to lead you to the right places… you can depend on the Lord to cause you to be at the right place at the right time, to have right happenings happen in your life!”

No one needed to tell me that the Lord was trying to tell me something so I took some time to really pray… “Lord, may I be at the right place at the right time”.

The Shunammite woman was blessed to walk into the kings palace just as her case was being discussed and this was the result of her right timing… “Is this true?” the king asked her. And she told him the story. So he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence (2 kings 8:4-5 NLT).

Halleluiah!!! Many have been told or have that inner witness that this is their season of restoration and so this is one of the things you need to pray for… that in this season of restoration, the Lord would order your steps. If you enter an office, your file or application would be the one that is opened on the desk for review and you would hear your work manager… bank manager‎… or whoever needs to confirm things in your favour say… “this is the person I was telling you about” so that whatever needs to be restored to you would be immediately restored.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives (Psalm 37:23 NLT)… Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left (Isaiah 30:21 NLT).

‎‎Last night God’s angel stood at my side, an angel of this God I serve, saying to me, ‘Don’t give up, Paul. You’re going to stand before Caesar yet—and everyone sailing with you is also going to make it.’ So, dear friends, take heart. I believe God will do exactly what He told me. (Acts 27:23-25 NLT).

I just came back from a trip which had me getting on planes 4 different times and each time I boarded, I made this prayer… “Lord, because I’m on this plane going on your assignment,‎ nothing would happen to it” and so, every time they started to go over the safety information, I took to praying.

‎It so happened that as I was returning from one destination, as the captain announced that we should fasten our seat belts because we were about to land, the lady sitting next to me picked up her safety card, called one of the air hostess and started asking… “What does this and that mean? Hmmm… the air hostess tried to explain to her but trust my people for being very religious, she did it in a very dismissive way, telling the lady that it was only for an emergency and that nothing was going to happen because God was with us. However, this lady continued asking. That’s when I looked at her and in my mind said… “Young lady, who sent you? I don’t know who you are or what your mission is on this flight but as a servant of the Most High God, I take authority and nullify every plan of the enemy”. We were both looking at each other and smiling but unknown to her, all the while, I was speaking in tongues until we landed safely.

Now, I’m not saying for sure that she was on any evil assignment ‎but if there’s anything my spiritual mum has taught me is to rather be wrong than sorry. Hmmm… You didn’t ask questions when they were going over the safety instructions, why is it now that we are just about to land that you want to know… what does this mean????

And you expect me to seat down there listening to the air hostess explain what that position is. Before you know it, the devil has a way of injecting fear into one which then gives birth to what he desires. But the devil is a liar.

I told God again‎, “I’m returning from your assignment so nothing is going to happen to this plane because of me”.

Beloved, this is not the time to walk in fear like your unsaved colleagues/acquaintances. No matter, the situation, you need to take authority. Like Paul, you must have confident in this God that you serve to say “because of me, nothing is going to happen to… this company… this car… this bus… this train… this plane…this????

Just remember the Lord’s promises to you that is still yet to happen and know that you are secure.

God bless you
