And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now NOTHING THEY HAVE IMAGINED THEY CAN DO WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM (Genesis 11:6 AMPC).

Beloved… Agreement is a principle that works regardless of your intentions and our feature text shows us that it was so powerful that it drew God’s attention when the people tried to build the tower of babel. He had to scatter them because they were trying to make a name for themselves outside of His plan.

Reading the story of Moses and Joshua, you also find the strength of working together.

As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But WHENEVER HE DROPPED HIS HAND, THE AMALEKITES GAINED THE ADVANTAGE. Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, HOLDING UP HIS HANDS. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle (Exodus 17:11-13 NLT).

Beloved, the enemy gained an advantage WHENEVER HE DROPPED HIS HAND so, to prevent this, he needed support. In the same way, we all need to hold up each other’s hands; in our relationships, our marriages, and in the body of Christ as a whole…. because there’s a message in the Psalms about how unity spreads the anointing and commands our blessing… How wonderful, how beautiful, WHEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS GET ALONG! It’s like costly ANOINTING OIL flowing down head and beard, Flowing down Aaron’s beard, flowing down the collar of his priestly robes. It’s like the dew on Mount Hermon flowing down the slopes of Zion. Yes, that’s where God commands the blessing, ordains eternal life (Psalm 133:1-3 MSG).

Jesus said… Again I tell you, if two of you on earth AGREE (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and [everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I Am in the midst of them (Matthew 18:19-20 AMPC).

Beloved, it’s sad to see that the body of Christ in general don’t HOLD EACH OTHERS HAND UP… DON’T GET ALONG… DON’T AGREE… DON’T PURSUE PEACE. Rather, we look for ways to tear each other down; giving the enemy an ADVANTAGE but this is not the mind of Christ.

To win the world over, let’s start by coming together as one with Christ as the head of our homes and church. We can start by praying for each other. Like the song writer said… I pray for you… You pray for me… I love you… I need you to survive… I won’t harm you with words from my mouth… I love you, I need you to survive…

Beloved, let this be your heart beat this week…

God bless you in Jesus Christ name

Now in a great house there are not only vessels and objects of gold and silver, but also vessels and objects of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honorable (noble, good) use and some for dishonorable (ignoble, common). Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work (2 Timothy 2:20-22 AMP).

Beloved, I was listening to someone say that many want to be like all the great personalities we hear about all over the world or we see on TV. In the church world, we want to be like that Bishop, Pastor, Prophet or Apostle who is so gifted and anointed. However, we shouldn’t be seen chasing after personality. Rather, we should humble ourselves before God and ask Him to tell us what it was about their character that made Him raise them to their position.

The Bible gives us great examples. We know about David who was a great worshiper and a man after God’s own heart. We are also told that… David shepherded them with the HONOR AND INTEGRITY OF HIS HEART; he led them in wisdom with strong and skillful hands (Psalm 78:72 Voice)

Moses was another great man of God but he is known for his humility… For his part, Moses was a uniquely humble fellow, more humble than anyone in the entire world (Numbers 12:3 Voice).

Beloved, even Jesus… Though He was in the form of God, He chose not to cling to equality with God; But He poured Himself out to fill a vessel brand new; a servant in form and a man indeed. The very likeness of humanity, He humbled Himself, obedient to death— a merciless death on the cross! So God raised Him up to the highest place and gave Him the name above all (Philippians 2:6-9 Voice)

Beloved, we are to seek after the character that made God raise them up. And then when you think of the process they had to go through. Our feature text talks about the different vessels in a great house. There are vessels of gold and silver and when you think of the process that gold and silver has to go through to get them to a state where they can be used for God’s special purpose, you would think again. They have to be refined by fire.

Beloved, there’s always a price to pay. There are things you have to let go off. You must separate yourself from anything that’s dishonorable in the sight of God and men. You must be put through the test.

For You have put us to the test, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. You trapped us with a snare; You have laid upon our backs a heavy burden. You allowed us to be conquered and let our enemies run over us. We journeyed through dangers, through fire and flood, BUT YOU LED US FINALLY TO A SAFE PLACE, A LAND RICH AND ABUNDANT (Psalm 66:10-12 Voice).

What kind of vessel do you want to be?

Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon… While He was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard. SHE BROKE OPEN THE JAR and poured the perfume over His head (Mark 14:3 NLT).

Beloved, the whole of last week, I focused on the story of this woman breaking her Alabaster jar because it was what the Lord was speaking to me about as I prepared for a women’s conference that week.

I was one of several speakers to minister and I thought I had done the text justice but then, there was something another speaker shared on the topic that gave me some new revelation. She said she once saw an Alabaster jar in a museum and contrary to the picture we have in our minds, the jar was made of marble. So, this means that when you picture this woman breaking her Alabaster jar, you’ve got to firstly picture that it took a lot of strength and effort to break it and secondly, it didn’t break in one go. She must have kept at it, smashing it repeatedly until it broke to pieces. There must have been many layers to break through. Immediately she said that, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue listening to her because the Holy Spirit immediately started expounding what she was saying.

Beloved, have you ever asked the Lord “how much more breaking do I have to go through?” I received the answer to that question and immediately started to see many layers to be broken so that the Lord can get pure worship and service out of us.

Just I had imagined, in another session, another speaker started ministering directly to me saying that there’s still more layers to be broken off me in order for me to function properly in the mantle on my life and I honestly wanted to ask; “can you please explain exactly what you mean by broken? Are we talking layers of fat here?” LOL. She went on to tell the host that there was a reason why the Lord asked her to send for me because the event was for me.

‎Beloved, I didn’t know whether to be happy or cry. When I later told my friend what happened, she said “Amen! More Lord… we want more” but I had to ask “more brokenness???”

I went on to search for images of an alabaster jar and yes, I definitely saw some marble jars. I then decided to do a word study on the word ‘broke’ used in our feature text and it comes from the Greek word ‘suntribó’ which means to ‘break by crushing, break in pieces, shatter, crush, bruise’. It is also associated with another word ‘tribos’ which means a worn path, beaten way, road, highway and it figuratively means the “route” established by the Lord, where people can best know Him.

“How much more breaking do I have to go through?”

Beloved, perhaps yours is also a thick layer to break through. Meditate on 2 Corinthians 12:8-10

…He went ahead and directed His disciples, “SIT THEM DOWN IN GROUPS OF ABOUT FIFTY.” They did what He said, and soon had everyone seated. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted His face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread and fish to the disciples to hand out to the crowd. After the people had all eaten their fill, twelve baskets of leftovers were gathered up (Luke 9:14-17 MSG).

Beloved, a couple of days ago someone asked me the question “what is God saying for the month of April?” and based on what He has been highlighting in my life for a couple of weeks now, my reply was that it’s time for order and focus. The Lord began to speak to me immediately after my last meeting where the only thing I could see on the day was how disorganised I was. It so stole my joy that day that I had to repent before the Lord. That was when He began to speak to me about order and focus and since then, I’ve had to do a proper review of every single thing that was highlighted so that I could organise things better for future meetings.

In our feature text, before Jesus could miraculously feed the 5000, He ordered His disciples to organise the people. The Voice translation says… organize them in little communities of about 50 people each and have them sit down… There would have probably been chaos if they hadn’t done that.

Only a few days ago, using the creation story, I was listening to some differentiate between God’s anointing and His Glory.

In the beginning… the earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep…. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good (pleasing, useful) and He affirmed and sustained it; and God separated the light [distinguishing it] from the darkness (Genesis 1:2-4 AMP).

They said that with all that disorder, the Holy Spirit was still present and moving but there was no glory. It was only when God started to speak things into place that you could see His glory …GOD SAW THAT THE LIGHT WAS GOOD (PLEASING, USEFUL)…

Illustrating this point further, they went ahead to use my beloved country in Africa saying that some of the most anointed men of God that they knew came from that country. However, because there’s a lot of disorder and chaos, we fail to see God’s glory.

AND GOD SAID, “LET THERE BE LIGHT”…

The Greek word for light used here is ‘Photismos’ and one of its meaning is ‘illumination’ which means light that comes into a room… that shines on something…. that shines on your darkness. It also means knowledge or understanding and the Lord has been revealing to me that for me to begin to see His glory in my life and ministry, I need order and focus which also involves separating myself from some things.

Beloved, do you also need order and focus?

He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel (Psalm 103:7 NKJV)

Yesterday, I had a very interesting meeting with a young lady and amongst other things that we discussed, we talked at length at why it is that the church isn’t as powerful as it ought to be. My answer to that is we are chasing after the wrong thing and don’t want to do what it takes to really know the Lord.

As I was reading our feature text, this is what came to mind. There comes a time ‎when you decide to go after the Lord Himself and not just what He can hand down to you because there’s a level where you’ll tap into; a level of growth where you don’t need to call 40 days fasting for every little thing.

I know a friend who after looking for a job for a while, turned around and asked God… “is this what I’m going to declare fasting for too?. LOL… that’s someone that knows the spiritual level they ought to be operating from. The level where you start to command things to happen but many of us are still at the level of Lord, GIVE ME… GIVE ME… GIVE ME…

GIVE ME… GIVE ME… GIVE ME… are the ones when you call a discipleship meeting to teach on how to build your character and become Christ like, they won’t show up, but if it is to receive your breakthrough, there’ll be no empty seats left.

Hmmm… WAYS versus ACTS… I like how the Message Translation says… He showed Moses how He went about His work…

I began to discuss with this young lady how Paul said… ‎[For my determined purpose is] that I may KNOW HIM [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the POWER OUTFLOWING FROM HIS RESURRECTION [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body] (Philippians 3:10-11 AMP).

Hmmm… This is Masters Level of study where you want to master the act…

Paul said… I have a lot more to say.., but it is hard to get it across to you… By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, INEXPERIENCED IN GOD’S WAYS… (Hebrews 5:11-14 MSG).

Hmmm… are you still being breastfed?

God bless you

Ever had a blocked sink? Most times, the cause of the blockage is all that congealed oil that has piled up and the most common solution to unclogging the sink is to pour boiling water over it to melt the oil so that water can flow freely down the sink.

Some of us are operating like a blocked sink. You’ve piled up so much bitterness, pain and unforgiveness that it’s blocked your spiritual pathway. As a result it’s hard to hear clearly from God neither can you receive all that He wants to give to you. Do you know that you are doing yourself more harm than good? Off course, it hurts when you think of what people have done to you and all you hear is let it go but think of it like the hot water that has to be poured down the sink to melt away all the congealed oil. I’m sure it hurts but the anointing in your life has to flow freely. I’m not saying you should put up with evil but… if it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone (Romans 12:18 NIV).

Also, do your best to void strife, quarrelling, fighting, malice and all that stuff because they block your SPIRITUAL PATHWAY. Jesus promised the coming of the Holy Spirit and on that fateful day, the Bible points out something very significant… they were all WITH ONE ACCORD in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting… And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit… (Acts 2:1-4 NKJV).

The pathway was clear for the free flow of the Holy Spirit. WITH ONE ACCORD… means to be in agreement or to be in harmony. Please know that the enemy is always looking for ways to cause confusion, disagreement and enmity which isn’t the right atmosphere for the anointing of God to flow. Many times, I’ve had reasons to frown at some ugly situations but when I think of what it would do to my flow with the Lord, I know it isn’t worth it at all so I immediately let it go.

How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. AND THERE THE LORD HAS PRONOUNCED HIS BLESSING, even life everlasting (Psalm 133: 1-3 NLT).

Do you want to experience the anointing of God and His blessings in your life, home, business, office, marriage and relationships? Why not start UNCLOGGING YOUR SPIRITUAL PATHWAY. I know it’s easier said than done but that’s why you have to keep visiting the throne of grace to obtain the help you need. Why not present your case to Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to help you let go.

God bless you

27. September 2015 · Comments Off on PURSUING INTIMACY WITH GOD‏ · Categories: Anointing, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Prayer, Relationship, Worship

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place… (Matthew 6:6 NKJV).

During our meeting last week, one of the guest ministers said something that caught my attention. Speaking on intimacy with God, they asked; “as a married person, would you practice intimacy with your spouse in a room full of people?” Hmmm… that made me think and as I was looking for a Scripture to back it up, one of my mentee’s sent me the following about our feature text.

They said “Studying this scripture, I learnt that the secret place Jesus is talking about is not really your physical room. The secret place is your relationship with God; your devoted heart to God and Him only. What God wants is not a religion but a relationship with man. This relationship is cultivated on the altar of prayer where you commune with God”.

I read it and had to ask for permission to use because they were able to articulate what I had been reflecting on during the week.

Hmmm… Many of us have a public relationship with God but once we’ve left church/ Social Media that’s it and reflecting on this based on my own relationships with people, the only relationships I consider as relationships are with those few people that I relate with regularly and I now struggle to define those ones I no longer hear from or only speak to occasionally because let’s face it; not that anything happened, it’s just that we hardly communicate. You hardly know what’s going on with me and vice versa. That has definitely affected our relationship and like we usually say “we’ve just drifted apart”.

Now, if that can affect our earthly relationships, what about our relationship with God. Yes, He continues to know everything about us but that’s one-sided. We know very little about Him and the little we know is hearsay; what we’ve heard other people say about Him. That’s no relationship.

The other thing that the speaker said was that “ANOINTING DRAWS PEOPLE CLOSE TO YOU BUT INTIMACY DRAWS GOD CLOSE TO YOU”. So, which do you prefer? Many people’s relationship with the Lord is just to fuel their anointing so they can perform for others/resolve other people’s problems but that’s so different from intimacy with Him. If every time you are in the bedroom with your husband and all he keeps hearing is give me feeding or the children’s school fees money, how do you think he would feel?

Hmmm… When you hear some of us praying in public, it’s like thunder but behind closed doors, our relationship is empty. The key ingredient of a relationship is missing. You can’t even be naked before God however, intimacy is ‘In-To-Me-See’.

Many have a very superficial relationship with the Lord but He is desiring more and asking that it’s time we pursue a more intimate relationship with Him.

Why not join me in saying… DEAR LORD “I’M NOT AFTER ANYTHING TODAY. I JUST WANT TO SPEND TIME WITH YOU”

God bless you

20. August 2015 · Comments Off on FOCUS ON BEING THE BEST YOU‏ · Categories: Anointing, God's Plan, Holy Spirit, Intercession, Jesus Christ, Prayer, Talents

‎There are different kinds of gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve [ministries] but the same Lord to serve. And there are different ways that God works through people [kinds of action; activities] but the same God works in all of us in everything we do [all things in all people] (1 Corinthians 12:4-6 EXB).

A couple of Sundays ago, the person that was to lead intercessory prayer in my church couldn’t make it to church so someone else was called to fill the gap. However, though an intercessor, she didn’t find it funny at all being called out without prior warning and refused to accept any compliments afterwards. She felt she were awful. “Just stop it”, she said. But then I told her that it was because she was comparing herself to the mummy of the house who brings down fire when she prays. As a result, everyone else believes they can’t pray. Perhaps that’s the reason the first person bailed on us. LOL

Many of us shy away from functioning in our gifts and callings just because we tend to compare ourselves to others, forgetting that everyone is unique and have been equipped differently.

I remember listening to a preacher say he once noticed that when a particular preacher came to his church, everyone’s screaming and jumping up and down but when he is preaching everyone’s crying. So one day he decided to use the technique of the other preacher which included swinging the microphone in circles as he preached. However, he said the microphone mistakenly hit his lips so hard that he started bleeding. That’s when he gave up… “Sorry guys, I’ll rather be me”. LOL

The Lord won’t anoint the fake you so why do you want to be like somebody else? Why copy their technique? Do you think the Lord cannot use you the way you are? The Lord told Joshua… I will be with you as I was with Moses… (Joshua 1:5 NLT). Same God, two different people with different callings. They were given different strategies but both still split the sea.

The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak with wisdom [message/word of wisdom], and the same Spirit gives another the ability to speak with knowledge [message/word of knowledge]. The same Spirit gives faith to one person. And, to another, that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. The Spirit gives to another person the power to do miracles [works of power], to another the ability to prophesy [prophecy]. And He gives to another the ability to know the difference between good and evil [discernment/distinguishing of] spirits. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages [or ecstatic utterance; tongues] and to another the ability to interpret those languages [interpretation of tongues]. One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things, and the Spirit decides what to give [distributes just as He wishes to] each person (1 Corinthians 12:8-11 EXB).

God bless you

On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘RIVERS OF LIVING WATER WILL FLOW FROM HIS HEART.’” (When He said “living water,” He was speaking of the Spirit… (John 7:37-39 NLT)

To successfully walk this our Christian journey, you definitely need the help of the Holy Spirit to assist and guide you. Jesus said the Holy Spirit is your… Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby)… He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you (John 14:26 AMP).

You definitely need His help at all times but something I’m growing to learn is that there are key moments in your life (seasons) when you CANNOT afford to take Him for granted because you can’t afford to miss His leading and working power. It’s just like using a satellite navigator for directions. There are some key turns that you could miss that would add a significant amount of extra time to your journey.

This is the time when you have got to be best pals, doing everything possible to ensure the smooth flow of living water from your heart.

I’m reminded of King David’s cry to the Lord when he committed adultery and murder. He said… Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me (Psalm 51:10-11 AMP).

Now, we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and I don’t believe He can be taken away from us but the Scriptures says… do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him]… Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind) (Ephesians 4:30-31 AMP).

Any of this can definitely stop/slow down His flow. The Message Translation says… Don’t grieve God. Don’t break His heart. His Holy Spirit, MOVING and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for Himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted.

The Scripture I’ve been holding on to so dearly recently is… Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, FOR OUT OF IT FLOW THE SPRINGS OF LIFE (Proverbs 4:23 AMP) and recently, someone said the original illustration used here is to mount up soldiers around the doors of your heart.

You’ve got to work hard protecting your heart. Could there be anything stopping or slowing down your flow right now? How important is it in comparison to where the Lord is taking you? Can’t you let it go?

God bless you

09. July 2015 · Comments Off on THE VALUE OF A REFINED CHRISTIAN‏ · Categories: Anointing, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Patience, Spiritual Growth, Suffering, Trusting God

Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4 AMP).

On Tuesday, I went to pick up my dad from the airport and on our way back, as we were discussing his stay in Africa, the discussion about money came up. That’s when he told me that he struggled a bit this time around because two of his tenants decided that they were going to renovate their apartments which meant that they would use the rent they were to pay him for the renovation. Actually, it was more than a renovation. They were converting the apartment. So without thinking, I said “that’s not right. You didn’t ask them to work on the apartment so why should you be the one to suffer?” That’s when he said it’s to his advantage because it would increase the value of the apartments and though he may have to suffer a while this year, however by next year, their rent would go up.

He kept on emphasising the fact that his suffering was temporary and that it would pay off in the long run. That’s when I started to think of the temporary trials that we sometimes have to go through. Many times, we fail to realise that these trials are working in our favour and that if only we had foresight, we would endure and be patience, knowing that at the end of it… after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you (1 Peter 5:10 ESV)…and you would be… perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

I also started thinking of Job who said… But He knows the way that I take [He has concern for it, appreciates, and pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold [pure and luminous] (Job 23:10 AMP).

We all know the process of refining. It has to go through fire but that process increases it value, making it… pure and luminous.

You would often hear anointed men and women of God say… “You don’t want to know the cost of the anointing I carry”. Hmmm… It was through my little life’s experience and asking God what He was up to that I started to view suffering of the saints differently.

Do you know your value? The Lord says… I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering (Isaiah 48:10 NLT).

God bless you
