For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that HE [EVEN] GAVE UP HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN (UNIQUE) SON, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life (John 3:16 AMP).

Beloved, any parent that circumcises their little baby boy knows the pain they’ve got to go through but they still allow them go through the procedure to cut off the unwanted flesh. How does the parent explain that to their crying baby? How do you explain to someone that has been through so much pain in life that God loves you?

However, the question to ask is if God loved His son when He gave Him up to suffer and die for you? God didn’t stop what was happening when Jesus cried “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Does this mean God did not love Jesus? When Jesus appeared on the scene, the Lord made a public announcement… “This is my Son, WHOM I LOVE; WITH HIM I AM WELL PLEASED.” (Matthew 3:16-17 NIV). He repeated this statement again on the ‘Mount of Transfiguration’. By this time, Jesus had started predicting His own death but He didn’t die because His father didn’t love Him. He knew it was only a temporary situation… to save you whom His father so loved.

Unfortunately, because we have an enemy, bad things happen to us all… some more than others but nobody’s excluded. However, there’s always satan’s reason why things happen and God’s purpose why He allows them. The reason Jesus died on the cross was because satan wanted him off the scene but God’s purpose was so He could die to save you. The reason Joseph went to prison was because he was accused but God’s purpose was so He could meet the vessel that introduced him to the king. The reason Job lost everything was because satan wanted him to curse God but God’s purpose was to prove his authenticity and this became strengthened by a personal encounter with God. Job said… I had heard of You [only] by the hearing of the ear, but now my [spiritual] eye sees You (Job 42:5 AMPC). But there may have been a time Job felt “how can God love me and allow me go through this?” However, God had weighed the situation and said… “I created my son so I know the stuff he’s made off so Satan go ahead give it your best shot and let’s see whose laughing last”.

Beloved, God placed a boundary though and the reason you are still alive is because God has told satan how far he can go so don’t believe satan’s lies that God doesn’t love… that He isn’t watching over you. Cutting off flesh is painful but if you know God’s purpose for your life now and for eternity, you would know He so loves you. God’s love can only be revealed not explained so why not ask Him to reveal… this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19 NIV).

02. September 2016 · Comments Off on ARE YOU AFRAID YOU WON’T DELIVER? · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Pain, Praise, Prayer, Trusting God, Victory

Will I open the womb and not deliver? I have made this place labor in terrible pain, but do you think I won’t help it give birth? That is what I, the Eternal One have to say (Isaiah 66:9 Voice).

Beloved, can you believe it’s already September? Wasn’t it just yesterday we said happy new year? Where has the time gone? Anyway, as I spent time reflecting on the year so far, I heard the Lord say it’s the ninth month and it’s a month of delivery for those that have been pregnant with His purpose (not yours) since the beginning of the year but He also highlighted the fears and the doubts that the enemy would want to try to use as a hindrance to receiving this word hence the reason why our feature text is one to hold on to without wavering.

For some people, a lot has happened during these nine months’ period and you are now not sure whether there’s been a miscarriage or its going to be a still birth but know that regardless of how things may have seemed, God has always been in control and… we are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan (Romans 8:28 Voice).

Beloved, though it may not have seemed like it, all things; both the good, the bad and the ugly have been working out for your good all along.

Referring to our feature text, according to my Bible notes… “Jerusalem, the mother, is about to give birth to a new nation. God, the midwife, is there to make sure the birth goes well. Throughout Isaiah’s prophecy it is clear that God has initiated all the things that have happened to Israel and Judah. The destruction of Jerusalem and her glorious temple, the decades of exile in a foreign land, and now the return and restoration of Jerusalem are God’s work, pure and simple. Now all of these events and judgments point to a single moment when Jerusalem will resume its place as God’s chosen city and will open its gates to believing pilgrims. The prophet asks: WILL GOD PREVENT THIS NEW BIRTH FROM HAPPENING? AFTER HAVING BROUGHT HIS PEOPLE THIS FAR, IT IS UNTHINKABLE THAT GOD WOULD TURN BACK NOW”.

Beloved, God has been orchestrating events to get you to this point of delivery and for some, expect some suddenlies… Have you ever heard of a woman who gave birth before she went into labor? Have you ever seen a woman who delivered a son without feeling a thing? Do you think it’s possible for the land to go through labor in an instant, or to bear a nation, to be new and strong, in a single day? Nevertheless, Zion suffered only a moment before she gave birth to her children! (Isaiah 66:7-8 Voice)

For others, though it’s about to get messy, however, that’s because it is delivery time and all you need is strength to PUSH – Pray and Praise Until Something Happens…

As they left Pharaoh’s court, they confronted Moses and Aaron… “May the Lord judge and punish you for making us stink before Pharaoh and his officials. You have put a sword into their hands, an excuse to kill us!” (Exodus 5:20-21 NLT)

Beloved, after years of slavery, the Lord hears the cries of His people and sends Moses with His news to intervene… The people believed Moses and Aaron. When everyone heard that the Eternal was concerned about the Israelites and that He had observed their oppression, they bowed down and began to worship with grateful hearts (Exodus 4:31 VOICE).

The Lord’s message was then delivered to Pharaoh but Pharaoh gave this instruction to their supervisors…. make the work so heavy that the men don’t have the energy to do anything but work… (Exodus 5:9 VOICE)

Why is it that when we receive a word from the Lord that He has heard our cry for help, instead of things getting better, they get worse? Have you ever desperately wanted to hear from God so badly and when He speaks you’re like finally “this is all going to end” but only to see that the fire gets hotter? Like someone said, things go from bad to worse and then impossible before you see any change.

‎Hmmm… But that’s not where I’m going. I read this and was thinking “this must put the man of God in a very difficult position. Can you imagine how it would make Moses feel? They immediately blamed him and must have concluded that he must not have heard from God but it wasn’t his fault. He only delivered the message God sent him.

Moses was discouraged. He… went back to God and protested, “Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? WHY DID YOU SEND ME? Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them!” (Exodus 5:20-23 NLT)

Hmmm… Lord, why did you do me like this? LOL. But the Lord assures him that He’s still on the case… So Moses told the people… what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore… (Exodus 6:9 NLT).

Surely, this must affect one’s confidence. The Lord told Moses… “Go back to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and tell him to let the people of Israel leave his country.” “But Lord!” Moses objected. “My own people won’t listen to me anymore. How can I expect Pharaoh to listen? I’m such a clumsy speaker! (Exodus 6:11-12 NLT). Hmmm… Moses now feels inadequate.

Beloved, it’s not always easy being the Lord’s messenger because He sometimes makes one look and sound foolish but that’s because we don’t understand what He’s up to until later… our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! (1 Corinthians 13:9 NLT).

Do you need to repent right now? Do you need to encourage your Moses?

No weapon formed against you shall prosper… (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV).

“Many of us are nursing wounds from weapons that did not prosper”. When I heard these words recently, I couldn’t shake it off. What this means is that we didn’t get to experience anything near what the enemy intended for us but yet can’t get over whatever discomfort we had to face. However, if the Lord should really open our eyes to see what the enemy planned for us, we would be speechless. The truth is that the Lord diverted many things because He still has plans for our future and that’s something to be grateful about.

I’m thinking of Joseph… When Joseph’s brothers saw him coming… they made plans to kill him (Genesis 37:18 NLT). That was their plan but if God didn’t have His own plan for Joseph’s future, he would have been killed. Rather, they changed their mind and threw him into a pit (Genesis 37:21-24). That weapon did not proper. Can you imagine what would have happened if Joseph got stuck in that moment of his life, nursing wounds saying “I can’t move on because my brothers threw me into a bit and then sold me into slavery. Don’t you think the Lord would have said “common, Joseph, but for my intervention, you would have been dead”.

Beloved, think back over the last 12 months, are you nursing wounds from weapons that didn’t prosper? Don’t you think that if those weapons had really prospered, you won’t be alive today? But the fact that you’re reading this today means that the Lord stopped the enemy’s plans concerning you.

I personally know someone that the Lord miraculously intervened when they were about to be involved in a car accident. A few weeks later, this same person was almost molested but the molester immediately stopped and later apologised, admitting that they saw a bright light shine from her. Hmmm… a few weeks after that, this same person unknowingly found herself on the scene of a gang crime and as she stopped to help the victim, the gang members drove off. Little did she know that they were waiting for her somewhere and as she drove off, they started chasing her. She got to a point where she couldn’t escape anymore but when one of the guys came out of their car and pointed a gun at her face, he couldn’t shoot. He just walked away.

None of those weapons prospered but you can only imagine how such incidents can keep one traumatised but she has to realise that those weapons didn’t prosper and move on.

Beloved, I’m not sure what your year has been like but you have to decide to stop nursing wounds from weapons that did not prosper, let go and move on to what the Lord has for you.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).

God bless you

For a Child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end… (Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT)

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, government … After reading this, I’m sure you would expect to see royalty treatment. Drum roll… earthquakes or everything spectacular that you can ever imagine but if you understand how the Lord works then you should know that you are in for a surprise… For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord! AND THIS WILL BE A SIGN FOR YOU [by which you will recognize Him]: you will find [after searching] A BABY WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES AND LYING IN A MANGER (Luke 2:11-12 AMP).

A BABY WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES AND LYING IN A MANGER???? Are you sure you are not mistaking this baby for someone us? How can this be a Saviour… Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace???

Most times when the Lord makes us great promises, we tend to look out for great signs but I wish I could say He works like that. Here you go; here’s what I said would happen all wrapped up in gold and silver. Wouldn’t that be great? Well, our God doesn’t always work like that. He sometimes takes you on a journey which doesn’t look anything like it would land you at His promised destination and if you’re not careful, you would miss out on what He’s doing because you’ve allowed your life to be filled with so much pain and disappointment.

Instead of questioning the way the Lord chose to introduce Jesus, the angels were joined by a vast host of the armies of heaven who then burst into praise (Luke 2:13-14). And the shepherds too; they went in search of Jesus and found Him based on the sign they were given… After seeing Him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished… The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them (Luke 2:17-20 NLT). They disregarded the surrounding situation and were full of praise.

Beloved, what signs are you looking out for? Don’t you know that the Lord uses…things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful (1 Corinthians 1:27 NLT). Why not be like the angels, the Shepherds and the people and rejoice and praise God despite the signs you can see right now?

God bless you

“Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” (Psalm 110:1 NKJV)

The Bible tells us of Pharaoh who devised a plan to hinder the Israelites growth for fear that they may join their enemies to fight against them and then escape. He decreed that all male children born to the Israelites be killed and when that didn’t work, he ordered that they should be thrown into the Nile River. But that mandate could not stop the man that God sent as their deliverer. Moses’ mother left him to float in the reeds at the edge of the Nile but he was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter who asked the boy’s mother to be his paid nurse. And then… later, when the boy was older, his mother BROUGHT HIM BACK TO PHARAOH’S DAUGHTER, WHO ADOPTED HIM AS HER OWN SON… Many years later, WHEN MOSES HAD GROWN UP, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work… (Exodus 2:10-11 NLT).

Can you imagine that? Until the time Moses was old enough to embark on the task that God created him for, he grew in the household of the enemy. They fed him daily and sent him to the best of schools. He was educated in all the wisdom and culture of the Egyptians (Acts 7:22 AMP). Who knows, perhaps he may have had long talks with Pharaoh’s daughter (and maybe even Pharaoh) about things pertaining to life – those things formal education cannot teach you.

So, how does this apply to us? Every single plot of the enemy designed against us is training and equipping us for purpose. I’ve heard of people that lost their jobs because of the plans devised by their enemies only to end up opening their own businesses using the things they learned from their work experience. Most people only discovered their gifting’s through the battles they have fought and won in Christ. Many have written bestseller books based on what they experienced in life. So, most people only discover their purpose through life’s battles.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and then landed in jail because he was lied on by Potiphar’s wife but God used those experiences to train and elevate him. His enemies were His footstool. He also learnt valuable virtues like forgiveness which released him to move on from the past.

As for Jesus… ‘None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory’ (1 Corinthians 2:8 NIV). Everything planned against Jesus was designed to fulfil the Master plan.

So beloved, appreciate your footstool. Please don’t let pain or bitterness cause you to overlook the valuable lessons you are learning and the promotion awaiting you. Always remember that… God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them (Romans 8:28 (NLT).

God bless you

Let us look only to [keep our eyes on] Jesus, the One who began [Pioneer/Founder of…] our faith and who makes it perfect [completes it]. He suffered death on [endured] the cross, accepting the shame as if it were nothing [disregarding/despising the shame] because of the joy that God put before [lay ahead for] Him. And now He is sitting at the right side [hand] of God’s throne. Think about Jesus, who endured such hostility [opposition] from sinful people, so that you will not get tired [grow weary; get discouraged] and stop trying [give up] (Hebrews 12:1-3 EXB).

I remember when a young guy came to me for counselling wanting to deal with his anger and rage issues. I was impressed by the step he took because he said one of the things that prompted him to seek help was because he didn’t want his temper to affect his marriage when he eventually decides to settle down. He already had a picture of what he wants that family to be like and right from the first time we met, he had already started talking of how he would love to come and drop his two daughters with me so that I can play with them, plait their hair and sing to them. LOL. He said this every time we met and it was interesting to see how his countenance changed to joy when he talked about his ‘to be family’.

The first day we met, we talked about some of the necessary steps he could take to avoid lashing out when angry. However, the next time we met, when I asked how things went, he told me of an incident he had during the past week. That was when I told him to think of the lovely picture of his ‘to be family’ that he had painted in his mind of what he would want that family to look like. I then told him that he should always have that picture before him so that anytime he’s tempted to burst out in rage, he should see what he is at risk of losing. Kind of like saying… “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it (Habakkuk 2:2 NKJV).

Regardless of how hard it may be, every positive decision and step you take now is helping you actualise that picture so it would pay you to FIX YOUR EYES ON THE PRICE‏. Because of the joy that was set before Jesus Christ, He humbled Him Himself, endured and suffered a lot, and is now sitting at the right hand side of God’s throne.

Beloved, have you got a PRICE before you? When you FIX YOUR EYES ON THE PRICE, that is, if you actually know the value of the PRICE, then you would know that you are wise to walk away from certain things even when people think you are stupid.

SELAH!

God bless you

“Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! (Isaiah 54:2 MSG)

The expression ‘my hands are full’ or ‘my plate is full’ is often used to express when one is too busy or totally occupied with something that it becomes literarily impossible to take on anything else. However, while some may have valid reasons to use these expressions, for some, it’s a totally different case when you realise what they are carrying in their hands and the Lord is saying while your hands are full with such, there’s no room for what He wants to give you.

A lot of people’s hands are full with unforgiveness, grudges, bitterness, disappointments, assignments that have not being assigned to them etc. The Lord wants to hand something new to you but there’s no room in your hands to take hold of it.

You may think you are justified in holding that grudge against that person that has so badly mistreated or hurt you but like a clogged sink, it’s blocking your path and preventing the things from God from flowing through.

I remember a few years back, I went to a conference and a lady said… “there’s somebody here who has been treated unfairly”. She described my exact situation so I knew she was referring to me and as I put up my hands, she said, “I knew it was you”. And I’m like…Yes, Lord… it’s finally payback time. Thank you for finally breaking the silence and acknowledging they did wrong. But then she said, “you’ve got to let it go because it’s hindering you”.

“What???? I’ve waited all this while to hear You say that? But it’s not fair… I’m always the one having to make amends. Why?” “Well… I know… but it’s not about them. It’s about you and what I want to do in your life… Get up, take your mat and walk”.

OH MEN! It’s really not fair. Have you ever heard anyone tell you that God isn’t a fair God? However, He is a just God. I tell you, had I not taken that advice, I probably would have still been at that same spot.

Perhaps yours is medals from past successes. Apostle Paul was a man with great achievements. He had a good education and was well known. He used to dine with the high and mighty but after he experienced Christ and had a revelation of what was ahead of him, he dropped everything he was carrying. He said… I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13 NLT).

Today, the Lord is saying to you… “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing… (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV) but when your hands are full, there’s no room to receive it.

Check what you are carrying. If it’s something hindering you from receiving from God, I pray you receive the grace and strength to drop it NOW.

God bless you

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God (Ruth 1:16 NLT).

‎Reading John Maxwell’s book, ‘Wisdom from Women in the Bible’, I came across this quote…

“WHEN YOU MAKE A GOD-HONOURING DECISION WITH THE HEART, GOD GUIDES YOU WITH HIS HAND”.

Here’s Ruth, a young lady who had lost her husband and was left with a very bitter mother-in-law who felt God had abandoned her and was probably returning back home to die. Ruth was faced with the biggest decision of her life. Should I go with this bitter woman and her God or should I go back to my people? Despite the hopelessness of the situation, she decided to make a God-honouring decision which led her to the future she never imagined.

Are you struggling to make a God-honouring decision‏?

I’ve taken sometime out just to be alone with the Lord but every now and then, I put on my phone just to see if the whole world has fallen apart and it needs me to come to its rescue (LOL). As I did that yesterday, a young lady I met with last week called. She was quite upset. She was just coming from a job interview when we met. She later sent a message to say she got the long awaited job but then yesterday, she was so upset because she had to make the decision to give it up. She said “Aunty, I’m a people’s person. I know I can do the job and easily work my way up to a managerial position in no time. The only thing is that I have to be out there from morning to night and by the time I get home, I’m so tired I can’t even pray nor read my Bible and then it also means I can no longer go out on missions work on Saturdays”.

She happens to be part of a team that goes out winning souls all over London for like 5 hours in one go. I’ve done it several times and it’s not the easiest thing to do but when I asked her how she felt about being on the streets evangelising, she said it was the most fulfilling feeling in the whole world and didn’t want to give it up. So, I told her that at the age of 20, I don’t know of many people that would make that decision. There are many people today that God has called into full time ministry but are still finding it difficult to make the sacrifice.

I also told her that I’ve been crying my eyes out for days because I’ve recently had to make a heart-breaking decision but a God-honouring decision doesn’t go unnoticed by God. I hadn’t even read Maxwell’s quote then.

Are you struggling to make a God-honouring decision‏?… Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest (Psalm 126:5-6 NLT).

18. July 2015 · Comments Off on AS LONG AS THEY DON’T CHAIN YOUR LIPS‏ · Categories: God's Plan, Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Pain, Praise, Prayer

A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!‎ (Acts 16:22- 26 NLT)

This is one of those popular verses that we’ve come to be so familiar with. It is one that songs have been made out of it and I remember this familiar song that says…. ‘Paul and Silas they prayed… they sang… the Holy Ghost came down on Paul and Silas’… but can you imagine what happens when the Holy Ghost descends on a place?

The Bible says God inhabits the praise of His people… But You are holy, O You Who dwell in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered] (Psalm 22:3 AMP). I love how the Message translation says it… leaning back on the cushions of Israel’s praise…

Can you imagine the Lord entering that prison cell and leaning back on the cushions of Paul and Silas praise? Like someone was telling me recently, the cell cannot contain Him. His presence in the room would shake and break everything apart including all the so called chains and reading this verse again, what came to mind is that the mistake the jailer made was to leave their lips unchained‎.

Praise is a powerful tool‎ that confuses the enemy and no matter what is tied down in chains around you, you can still praise your way through as far as your lips remains unchained.

‎There’s another song by William Murphy that says ‘Praise is what I do… When I want to be close to You… I lift my hands in praise…. Praise is who I am… I will praise Him while I can… I’ll bless Him at all times… I vow to praise You… Through the good and the bad… I’ll praise You… Whether happy or sad… I’ll praise You… In all that I go through… Because praise is what I do… Cause I owe it all to You.

Is praise what you do? Is praise who you are? Or has the enemy succeeded ‎in muting your voice?

We are to… offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name (Hebrews 13:15 NLT). Your praise may be a sacrifice right now in the sense that you may be giving it from a place of great pain but keep at it and before you know it, you would be singing a praise of thanksgiving‎.

God bless you
