What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]… Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us (Romans 8:31, 37 AMP).

Many years back, I remember armed robbers attacked our home in Africa and out of fear, my nephew who was only a child at the time ran and hid himself in the kitchen. However, the armed robbers soon made their way into the kitchen but before they could even locate where he was hiding (not that they were even looking for him), fearing that he would be in worse trouble if they found him first, he cried out… “see me here”. ‎As if to say, if I surrender myself, my punishment won’t be as bad. LOL… I can’t stop laughing.

‘See me here’!!! While it sounds funny, that’s the attitude many Christians have adopted. When the enemy comes LIKE a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), out of fear… we say ‘see me here’. However, we forget that the text says ‘like a roaring lion’ and not that he is a ‘roaring lion’. We also tend to forget that we… have overcome… because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4 NKJV).

David said… He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [WHOSE POWER NO FOE CAN WITHSTAND] (Psalm 91:1 AMP). However, many times, we choose to come out of our hiding place and say “see me here”.

The word of God tells us… No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV).

The Lord would always make a way out of every temptation but we are too quick to give in and say “see me here”. As a result, we are quick to give in to temptation… sin… frustration… fear and every weak emotion you can think of.

Beloved, this is not the time to give in. Rather, you are to… be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-11 NLT).

You may be in a battle right now but remember that you are fighting from a place of victory. The battle has already been won. This current fight is a fight for your faith so don’t you dare give in. Remain under the shelter of the Lord Almighty… then after the battle you will still be standing firm (Ephesians 6:13 NLT).

God bless you

AND when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind… And they were all FILLED with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4 KJV).

‘AND’ happens to be a part of speech that connects two words or phrases together suggesting here that something happened before that connects to the above text. So what happened before?

Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised that the apostles will receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them to enable them witnesses to the end of the world and then He was taken up into a cloud (Acts 1:8-9).

Wow… That must have been some sight? I remember growing up, children used to be so excited when an aeroplane flew by. We would scream… mummy look… AEROPLANE. But this was no aeroplane… This was someone that used to eat and talk with them.

They stood there staring until two white-robed men had to interrupt… “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in [just] the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11 AMP).

Almost like saying; common guys, stop wasting time staring into space. He’ll be back but right now, there’s loads of work to be done. So they started preparing. Right guys, first things first; we need to bond but let’s get our team back in order and so they prayerfully selected Matthias to replace Judas.

… AND when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place… and after they were filled with the Holy Spirit, work began. Peter began to preach and 3,000 people got saved in one day (Acts 2:14-41). Following that, he and John healed the crippled beggar (Acts 3:1-11) and many more great works followed. Why? Because Jesus made it clear that they were to be FILLED TO FUNCTION… that is… witness to the ends of the world and not just gaze into space.

Do you know many Christians are still gazing… either at the cross or into space; that is looking at where Jesus was when He’s moved on and now lives inside us? We’ve been filled with the Holy Spirit. The same Jesus that walked the earth now lives inside of us… the body of Christ and as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17) and there’s work to be done; greater works than He did because there are now many of Him working around.

The apostles began to speak as the Spirit gave them utterance. Utterance is the release of the word. However, many are mute. If it’s the same Spirit that spoke in Genesis 1; and spoke in Jesus (and the Word became flesh); why isn’t He speaking through me? After all, it is no longer I but Christ who lives in me (Galatians 2:20).

The apostles functioned as a result of the filling of the Holy Spirit. If there’s no difference in your filling then there should be no difference in your ability to function.Like a preacher said; no one puts petrol in a packed car. Are you packed? Or are you more interested in owning 10 packed cars? Is this the time to be gazing at what the world is gazing at?

We are good at playing church but on this Pentecost Sunday, please let your prayer be simply; Father please show me how to use my filling to function.

God bless you
