At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount Seir and killed every one of them. After they had destroyed the army of Seir, they began attacking each other. So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped (2 chronicles 20:22-24 NLT)

Yesterday, I was meant to be counselling a young lad but from the minute I woke up, praise and worship mode was activated and there was no stopping me. He meet me going through my collection of songs and we ended up singing, dancing, and just worshipping God that by the time we started praying, we could almost feel the tangible presence of God that he had to ask for a minute for his vision to clear before leaving.

He couldn’t stop saying “Aunty, I love being in your presence”. LOL… I wasn’t sure what I was doing but had to explain that I was teaching him how to change his atmosphere when in a funny mood. He later sent a message to say “thanks for the laugh and JOY”.

But I wasn’t always like this? “Do you know what the Lord has equipped you with?” I remember this was what a prophet told me at a time when I was a real cry baby because of all the terrible things happening to me then.

“The Lord has equipped you so that your greatest tool against the enemy is praise and worship. As you keep praising and worshipping God, you would see Him fighting your enemies for you”. Wow… So here I was thinking “no wonder I love music so much”. However, I spent most of my life singing love songs to men. One to express how much I love you and the other to say how much you broke my heart. LOL. The devil is liar.

The prophet went on to say that “even in the middle of the night, when you find yourself crying and can’t find the words to pray, just worship God as you cry‎ and watch what He does”. Since then, no matter how heavy my heart is, if I can just tap into that gift of praise and worship‎, I know I’m embarking on serious warfare.

Beloved, it doesn’t matter what situation you find yourself… always activate your praise. Of course, there are times when the devil would try fighting you so you can’t even open your mouth but only a few days ago as I was singing Matt Redman’s song that says … Bless the Lord oh my soul… Worship His Holy name… Sing like never before… Oh my soul… I’ll worship Your Holy name, I found myself talking to my soul… “You must bless the Lord… whether you like it or not… sing like never before…”

Why not try it? It works everytime.

God bless you

I remember when I lost my brother. It was about a month before my 40th birthday. It actually fell on a Saturday so I had always said I was going to celebrate it in combination with my marriage celebration/re-dedication. However, before the time came, my marriage broke down so I felt there was no point in marking the day at all. But then the Lord gave me a word; ‘Exodus 3:8 fulfilled’. I then decided that I was going to have a special thanksgiving to the Lord for sparing my life from death so many times; one that would make the enemy mad. It was also to mark a new beginning.

Anyway, everything was planned and the countdown began only for my brother to die. That was it. I was definitely not going ahead with my plans but then I heard the Lord say clearly… SO DOES IT MEAN THAT BECAUSE YOUR BROTHER DIED YOU ARE NO LONGER GOING TO THANK ME FOR YOUR OWN LIFE?

Enough said! I called my immediate family together and told them I was still going ahead even if I was the only one present on that day. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I don’t need to tell you the trouble I got from people… extended family… his friends and the like. How can you go ahead after just burying your brother? You’ve brought shame on the family… bla… bla… bla… I had many enemies because of it. Many boycotted the event but excuse me!!!! Who are you to speak when the Lord has spoken? I was not about to nullify the word of God by your tradition (Mark 7:13).

Why am I sharing this? On Saturday, during my meeting by the well, though I didn’t plan to, the Lord led me to share this testimony. Unknown to me, there was a lady there that lost her son and then after that lost her mother. The Lord has since blessed her with another son who is almost one. She was planning to celebrate his birthday. They had the invitation cards ready but the devil had started messing with her mind. What is there to celebrate after losing your son and mother? She became so reluctant to send out the cards and was contemplating cancelling until she heard my story.

But isn’t that what it’s all about. Satan wants to remove celebration and laughter from our lives.

What about this young innocent child? Does he have to be deprived of his own joy? I immediately remembered Jabez. His mother named him Jabez [sorrow maker], saying, because I bore him in pain (1 Chronicles 4:9 AMP). The mum allowed her sorrow to determine the course of his life until he took a stand.

This lady was encouraged by my testimony and decided to break that stronghold the devil was building in her mind.

Listen; Never allow the enemy steal your praise… They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony… (Revelation 12:11 NIV)

God bless you

Today, with my prophetic hat on I say… “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song… you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord. “Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities (Isaiah 54:1-3 NLT).

This is probably not a message for everyone but for those people that it seems like everything has been locked up and you have been bent over in shame for a long time. People have laughed at you asking where your God is but despite the temptation to quit you somehow found the strength to remain standing and have held on to what seems like shadows of your promise. Oh yes, you struggled but with many many tears on your pillow, you have remained faithful to the Lord.

Hmmm… it seemed like the enemy was winning. None of it made sense to you but you have stood your ground and said… Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! (Habakkuk 3:17-18 AMP)

Hmmm… It doesn’t matter how long it has been or what your situation is. Jesus went into a church to preach one service day… and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God (Luke 13:10-13 NIV).

Bent over for eighteen years but she kept coming… Even church people would have started gossiping but one day was all it took for Jesus to straighten everything about her life.

Job said… though He slay me, yet will I wait for and trust Him… (Job 13:15 AMP)…He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold (Job 23:10 NIV).

Yes… He knows the way you have taken… and He is releasing Sarah’s kind of laughter into your life… ENLARGE YOUR HOUSE; BUILD AN ADDITION. SPREAD OUT YOUR HOME, AND SPARE NO EXPENSE! FOR YOU WILL SOON BE BURSTING AT THE SEAMS…

Go ahead and start praising the Lord.

God bless you

18. October 2013 · Comments Off on WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT? · Categories: Faith, Jesus Christ, Laughter

I was challenged yesterday as someone asked the question; “WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT?” A statement that is loaded and makes you really think. The Lord told Abraham that He would surely return in a year and Sarah his wife would have a son. However, because they were already very old and past the age of childbearing, Sarah could not possibly see how that could happen… So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” (Genesis 18:12 NIV)

We are told that Sarah laughed at God but if you think long enough you too are bound to find something that would make you laugh. And please, may I warn you not to lie like Sarah did because you may just hear the Lord’s voice saying… “Yes you did; you laughed and are still laughing.” LOL. Even before Sarah laughed, Abraham, the great model for faith also laughed… Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” (Genesis 17:17 NIV)

WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT? Think about it for a moment… Your health being restored? Your job? Your finances? Peace in your marriage? That wayward child coming back home? Overcoming that bad habit, Your loved one’s coming to Christ? What will make you laugh? As you compile your list, please ask yourself the same question the Lord asked Sarah… IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? (Genesis 18:14 NIV)

As I did my own reflection, what I found very interesting was that there were particular areas where I had so much faith compared to other areas. I’m currently working on a project and though all the limitations are right in front of me, I can actually picture it doing very well. However, there are some other areas that the Lord would probably catch me laughing. But then, I thought to myself; What’s the different? Isn’t it the same God you are trusting? And then I spotted the difference… one involves my own human effort and the other doesn’t… Aha… Got you… HELP! I told you I’m by no way perfect… HELP!

We tend to have our greatest faith when it comes to things we can physically see ourselves doing and all we need God for is to sign on the dotted lines. However, there are things that Jesus said… “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (Matthew 19:26 NLT)

Sarah laughed because there was no humanly possible way that by this time next year she would have a child but she was wrong. The Lord did the impossible so why not hand over your list to Him and as you do so, I pray you witness the impossible become possible.

God bless you

“But suddenly, your ruthless enemies will be crushed like the finest of dust. Your many attackers will be driven away like chaff before the wind. SUDDENLY, IN AN INSTANT, I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, will act for you with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm and consuming fire. All the nations fighting against Jerusalem will vanish like a dream! Those who are attacking her walls will vanish like a vision in the night (Isaiah 29:5-7 NLT).

When the enemy attacks, we often think God is slow to come to our aid but even before you cry out, He has already seen and heard your cries and would often say ‘be still and know that I am God’. God said to Moses… “I’ve taken A GOOD, LONG LOOK at the affliction of my people in Egypt. I’ve heard their cries for deliverance from their slave masters; I know all about their pain. And now I have come down to help them, pry them loose from the grip of Egypt… (Exodus 3:7-8 MSG)

With God, a GOOD, LONG LOOK often feels like it is a very, very, very LONG LOOK; one that may take many years in human eyes but God is also a ‘SUDDENLY, IN AN INSTANT’ God. After the Lord spoke to Moses, it took some time before they could see any kind of deliverance. In fact, their situation became worse and when God eventually moved on their behalf, it was quite scary. As they left Egypt, their enemies came after them in full force and it seemed there was no way of escape for them… but Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. THE EGYPTIANS YOU SEE TODAY WILL NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN (Exodus 14:13 NLT).

And we know the story, that same day, they watched as the enemies that had tormented them for many, many years drown in the red sea. As a kid, every Christmas we watched this classic movie on Moses, the Israelites and the red sea and it was quite a scene and it helped to visualise that moment when it all happened. Now picture those moments and then meditate on Isaiah 29:5-7. God is the same God yesterday, today and forever. Don’t you think He can do the same on your behalf? What battle are you fighting that Jesus hasn’t already won?

When the Lord brought back His exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” (Psalm 126:1-2 NLT). They couldn’t believe it. May you also experience such laughter and joy in the mighty name of Jesus Christ… Amen

God bless you

They say LAUGHTER is contagious. Immediately one person starts laughing, their laughter provokes another person to join in and before you know it, everyone in the room is laughing. I have a LAUGHING message for somebody that wants to join in the LAUGHTER.

God appears to Abraham when he was 99 years and starts making all this wonderful promises and Abraham is fine with it because somehow he can see how God can accomplish it. After all, they had already managed to help God out by having Ismael. So Abraham says OK… keep going… I believe it’s possible. But then God takes it to a level that he cannot comprehend. God mentions Sarah.

“And Sarai your wife: Don’t call her Sarai any longer; call her Sarah. I’ll bless her—yes! I’ll give you a son by her! Oh, how I’ll bless her! Nations will come from her; kings of nations will come from her.” (Genesis 17:15-16 MSG)

In my wild imagination, I can just hear Abraham say… OK now Lord, slow down. You’ve just messed the whole thing up. I was so feeling you before now.

Genesis 17:17-19 (AMP) says – Then Abraham fell on his face AND LAUGHED and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a son? And [he] said to God, Oh, that Ishmael might live before You! But God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed, and you shall call his name Isaac [LAUGHTER]; and I will establish My covenant or solemn pledge with him for an everlasting covenant and with his posterity after him.

And you shall call his name Isaac [LAUGHTER]… Let’s all have one big LAUGHING Party but get ready because you would be LAUGHING for a very long time. Can you handle it?

The Lord appears to Abraham again and do you know what? The LAUGHTER still continues… “I’m coming back about this time next year. When I arrive, your wife Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the tent opening, just behind the man. Abraham and Sarah were old by this time, very old. Sarah was far past the age for having babies. SARAH LAUGHED WITHIN HERSELF, “An old woman like me? Get pregnant? With this old man of a husband?” God said to Abraham, “WHY DID SARAH LAUGH saying, ‘Me? Have a baby? An old woman like me?’ IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD? I’ll be back about this time next year and Sarah will have a baby.” Sarah lied. She said, “I DIDN’T LAUGH,” because she was afraid. But He said, “Yes you did; YOU LAUGHED.” (Genesis 18:10-15 MSG)

Yes you did but don’t worry. The nature of your LAUGHTER will soon change. Then you will know what I’m capable of doing. And indeed God does it and… Sarah said, “GOD HAS BROUGHT ME LAUGHTER, and EVERYONE WHO HEARS ABOUT THIS WILL LAUGH WITH ME.” (Genesis 21:6 NIV)

Didn’t they say LAUGHTER is contagious? However, before now, the LAUGHTER had been an internal one of doubt… unbelief… shame… self-pity… but It’s amazing how the Lord changed the nature of their LAUGHTER to that of real joy. Every time they call the name of their son, there is LAUGHTER.

My dear friends, IT’S OK TO LAUGH. Make it a habit. Let this contagious laughter catch you. Every time that situation wants to make you doubt God, or make you sad or cry and even when people laugh at you because of it, join in the LAUGHTER and say; IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD? God will soon change the nature of the LAUGHTER and everyone will join you in that LAUGHTER in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

God bless you
