Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice; and he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him [over and over]. And he was a Samaritan (Luke 17:15-16 AMP).

Beloved, the Bible says that… in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV) and so, while you’re still waiting on the Lord for that big thing to happen, like this Samaritan in our feature text, have you… turned back, recognized, thanked and praised the Lord‎ for what He’s done so far in your life even in this year or are you like the other 9 lepers ‎that kept going? Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this OUTSIDER?” (Luke 17:17-18 MSG)

This OUTSIDER… There’s this term called ‘barren familiarity’ where you become unfruitful because you’ve become too familiar with a thing that you no longer value it’s worth. As a result, it no longer produces anything for you and you no longer reap its benefits.

A typical ‎example is the case of Jesus and the people He grew up with… Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary?… Are they not all with us?… But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” NOW HE DID NOT DO MANY MIGHTY WORKS THERE BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF (Mathew 13.55-58 NKJV).

This is about taking one for granted and‎ many of us take the Lord for granted because we’ve become so used to Him and what He does for us daily (Psalm 68:19) that’s why outsiders come in and get blessed faster than those of us that have been insiders for years.‎

Beloved, we need to cultivate the habit of being grateful for everything the Lord has done for us; both the little and big things. It is because of His mercies we are not consumed (Lamentations 3:22).

King David said… I bless God every chance I get my lungs expand with His praise… God met me more than halfway, He freed me from my anxious fears (Psalm 34:1, 4 MSG)‎.

Beloved, Look back at the past few weeks, months or years. Is there anything you haven’t thanked God for or given Him the glory?

Praise the Lord, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds! He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, who delivers your life from the Pit, who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion, who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s(Psalm 103: 2-5 NET)‎.

Beloved, have you really not got anything to thank Him for? Thanksgiving ‎is a key the Lord’s heart… Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! (Psalm 100:4 AMP) When the Lord sees how you appreciate everything He’s doing in your life, you are in… You’ve got access.

And Adam knew Eve as his wife, and she became pregnant and bore Cain; and she said, I have gotten and gained a man WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD. And [next] she gave birth to his brother Abel… (Genesis 4:1-2 AMPC).

Beloved, Happy mother’s day to all you wonderful mothers and mothers to be out there. I have great news for you… NOTHING CAN STOP YOU! I was just reflecting on all the agony Eve had to go through. From her very first appearance on the scene of this earth, the devil was after her. Yes, she fell. Yes her actions had consequences but no matter how she struggled… No matter what life brought her way, she PREVAILED. She had to go through hard labour but WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Because of the enmity between the offspring of satan and her offspring (Genesis 3:15), there was war in her household and even after she lost both sons, her story did not end there, she… again became pregnant, and she bore a son and called his name Seth. For God, she said, has appointed for me another child…(Genesis 4:25 AMPC)… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, since that time, women struggled with all sorts of issues. Barrenness was top on the list but when the world thought it was all over for Sarah, Rachael, Rebecca, Hannah, Elizabeth and the like, the Lord changed their stories… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… they PREVAILED…

And then the angel of the Lord appeared to one very special woman… And he came to her and said, Hail, O favored one [endued with grace]! The Lord is with you! Blessed (favored of God) are you before all other women!…And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace (free, spontaneous, absolute favor and loving-kindness) with God. And listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus (Luke 1:28-31 AMPC).

The enemy fought that Son… He was crucified. Mary probably thought she had lost Him forever but He resurrected… He ascended in to Heaven and… On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place…. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them (Acts 2:1,3 NLT). That was the Holy Spirit coming to dwell inside of them. Mary, the mother of Jesus was there (Acts 1:14). She felt her Son inside her once again… She was a favored one… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, such would be your case… you would keep on PREVAILING. On this special mother’s day, you blessed woman, favored of God, may you receive a special visitation from the Lord. May you receive gifts that you know… THIS CAN ONLY BE GOD.

What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! PEOPLE USED TO SAY SHE WAS BARREN, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. FOR NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD (Luke 1:36-37 NLT)

Beloved, I’ve found out that regardless of whatever happens, people are bound to talk about you. You can’t do anything about that but the good thing is that the good Lord hears every conversation… even the ones you don’t get to hear. In our feature text, the angel of the Lord visited Mary, the mother of Jesus to let her know of the part she had to play in God’s divine purpose to save humanity and then He told her about Elizabeth’s pregnancy in her old age.

He said… PEOPLE USED TO SAY SHE WAS BARREN… Yes, that was the gist in town for a very long time but one day the Lord stepped in… FOR NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

When it was time for Elizabeth’s baby to be born, she gave birth to a son. And when her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had been very merciful to her, EVERYONE REJOICED WITH HER (Luke 1:57-58 NLT).

EVERYONE REJOICED WITH HER…This were probably the same people that called her barren but now, the topic of their discussion changed.

The scripture goes on to say… everyone who heard about it reflected on these events and asked, “WHAT WILL THIS CHILD TURN OUT TO BE?” For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way (Luke 1:66 NLT).

Beloved, like I said, people would not stop talking about your situation but please be patient and allow God to give them something to talk about…WHAT WILL THIS CHILD TURN OUT TO BE?

As for you, just keep doing what you are doing. Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord’s commandments and regulations (Luke 1:6 NLT).

What’s more, Zechariah was a priest and when the angel of the Lord made this special visitation, he didn’t have to look for Zechariah in a different place out of frustration. Zechariah could have said… I’m tired of all this… I’m not going to church today… After all what am I getting for all my faithful service? NO! He was found serving God in the Temple carrying out his priestly duties and the angel of the Lord said to him… “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer (Luke 1:13 NLT).

Both husband and wife were old when the Lord answered their prayers but to God it was the right time.

So, beloved, let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint (Galatians 6:9 AMPC).

This is my pray for everyone waiting on the Lord for one thing or the other. Your story is bound to change. The Lord will give ALL YOUR OBSERVERS something worth talking about.

…godliness accompanied with contentment (that contentment which is a sense of inward sufficiency) is great and abundant gain (1 Timothy 6:6 AMPC).

Beloved, I remember once asking a lady to keep me in her prayers. However, she replied asking regarding what… “Ministry/ career or family? (Sorry asking more questions- I just don’t want to be religious and say; I’ll be praying)”. LOL… so I had to be specific and then I said… “You always sound very content which I admire so I don’t know what to pray for you. However, I would ask that your cup runs over”. Her reply was… “God’s been good to me on all sides… but of course more grace will not go amiss!”

Wow… I remember I was left thinking no wonder God’s been good to you on all sides. However, I couldn’t help but also think that perhaps, it’s not that everything is exactly perfect in her life but she’s probably learnt to be content and that in itself attracts the Lord’s blessings.

Beloved, most times, we tend to focus on what ‘should be’ rather than ‘what is’ and there are times God may have to show us that things could be worse. Like the saying goes; I used to complain that I had no shoes until I saw someone without any foot. Have you ever had to stop to apologise to God for your ingratitude when you see what others are going through? You are left thinking “what am I complaining about?”

Beloved, while we often tend to complain, let’s try and learn to be content. Paul said… I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want (Philippians 4:11-12 NIV). This is not to say you shouldn’t aim higher but it shouldn’t take over your life.

I once watched a play of two women approaching the throne of God. One was full of complaints.. Lord You haven’t done this and that. However, instead of giving her what she wanted, the Lord asked ‘perseverance’, ‘patience…’ to follow her home. On the other hand, even before the other lady approached His throne, God could hear her singing from afar. When she got to Him, the Lord asked what she wanted but she said… “Nothing! I’m still praising You for what You did last time”. The Lord was so impressed with her that He started dispatching blessings to follow her. She went away singing and dancing but by this time, the Lord’s feet was moving to her singing and when He couldn’t contain Himself anymore, He got up and said… In fact, wait for Me… I, myself would follow you.

Beloved, I remember someone saying that one of the basic differences between God and humans is that God gives, gives and forgives. But the human gets, gets, gets and forgets. So here’s a challenge; why not decide that this week you are going to try and look for ways to give, give and forgive?

No weapon formed against you shall prosper… (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV).

“Many of us are nursing wounds from weapons that did not prosper”. When I heard these words recently, I couldn’t shake it off. What this means is that we didn’t get to experience anything near what the enemy intended for us but yet can’t get over whatever discomfort we had to face. However, if the Lord should really open our eyes to see what the enemy planned for us, we would be speechless. The truth is that the Lord diverted many things because He still has plans for our future and that’s something to be grateful about.

I’m thinking of Joseph… When Joseph’s brothers saw him coming… they made plans to kill him (Genesis 37:18 NLT). That was their plan but if God didn’t have His own plan for Joseph’s future, he would have been killed. Rather, they changed their mind and threw him into a pit (Genesis 37:21-24). That weapon did not proper. Can you imagine what would have happened if Joseph got stuck in that moment of his life, nursing wounds saying “I can’t move on because my brothers threw me into a bit and then sold me into slavery. Don’t you think the Lord would have said “common, Joseph, but for my intervention, you would have been dead”.

Beloved, think back over the last 12 months, are you nursing wounds from weapons that didn’t prosper? Don’t you think that if those weapons had really prospered, you won’t be alive today? But the fact that you’re reading this today means that the Lord stopped the enemy’s plans concerning you.

I personally know someone that the Lord miraculously intervened when they were about to be involved in a car accident. A few weeks later, this same person was almost molested but the molester immediately stopped and later apologised, admitting that they saw a bright light shine from her. Hmmm… a few weeks after that, this same person unknowingly found herself on the scene of a gang crime and as she stopped to help the victim, the gang members drove off. Little did she know that they were waiting for her somewhere and as she drove off, they started chasing her. She got to a point where she couldn’t escape anymore but when one of the guys came out of their car and pointed a gun at her face, he couldn’t shoot. He just walked away.

None of those weapons prospered but you can only imagine how such incidents can keep one traumatised but she has to realise that those weapons didn’t prosper and move on.

Beloved, I’m not sure what your year has been like but you have to decide to stop nursing wounds from weapons that did not prosper, let go and move on to what the Lord has for you.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).

We are almost coming to the end of the year and while you’re still waiting on the Lord for that big thing to happen, have you… turned back, recognized, thanked and praised the Lord‎ for what He’s done so far or are you like the other 9 lepers ‎that kept going? Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:11-12 AMP).

Yesterday, using the case of the Shunammite woman, I wrote about not giving up and after posting on Facebook, as I was about logging off, I saw some pictures that someone posted 2 days ago with a message that said “Friends rejoice with me for the Lord has broken the yoke of barrenness in my life after 21 years”.‎

Hmmm… 21 years! She almost reached Abraham and Sarah’s record who waited for 25 years and we often say that was in Bible country but this one happened in our time. I read it and it brought me to tears and I knew the Lord was confirming my message for someone so I had to share in my Facebook group.

Now, I’ve never seen this woman before so I wanted to know who her husband was because being someone that my ex-husband left because I couldn’t have a child with him after 5 years, I was curious to see the kind of man that would wait with a woman for 21 years. So, instead of logging off like I was supposed to, I started searching through her pictures (LOL, you would be surprised at some of the things I get up to sometimes) ‎and I know that you aren’t meant to judge based on what you see on Facebook alone but the pictures I saw showed a happy couple.

‎I couldn’t help but pray for him as I browsed through their pictures and to my amazement I actually found one picture posted on 25 December 2014 where his hands were wrapped around her and a man responded to the picture by saying “Thank you… for the endurance and perseverance, God will continue to bless you. Amen”.

Hmmm… I can only imagine that he never imagined that in less than a year’s time, they would be holding their own baby.

‘Endurance and perseverance’ are the key words. When the Lord makes a promise that for example… “None shall be barren in your land (Exodus 23:26)”or that “about this time next year you shall embrace a son (2 Kings 4:16)”, He doesn’t just say it for the fun of it. He doesn’t just sit back and relax either. The Lord told the Prophet Jeremiah…‎ I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it and thank God that we can rely on His faithfulness regardless of us… If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13 AMP).

Halleluyah… “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 NKJV)

Are you really acknowledging God’s rule over your life? Are you really experiencing peace and joy in your life?

[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT (Romans 14:17 AMP).

Is your mind always troubled over stuff? You know how to talk the Christian talk, know what is right from wrong and can put on a show in public to make it seem like you’ve got it all together but behind closed doors, its tears, tears and more tears. You are always worried and anxious over the things going on around you; the things nobody else knows you are going through. You are saved no doubt but IS JESUS REALLY REIGNING IN YOUR LIFE?

Where’s your peace? Where’s your joy? I like how the Message translation put it… God’s kingdom isn’t a matter of what you put in your stomach, for goodness’ sake. IT’S WHAT GOD DOES WITH YOUR LIFE AS HE SETS IT RIGHT, PUTS IT TOGETHER, AND COMPLETES IT WITH JOY.

Are you waiting for everything to be perfect before you experience real peace and joy? Didn’t they say true joy isn’t based on what is happening around you but from the Holy Spirit that flows from within you? I don’t think Jesus promised that everything would be smooth. In fact, He made sure He prepared the minds of His disciples. Jesus said… I have told you all this so that you may have PEACE in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)

The storms of life happens to the just and the unjust but what differentiates the just from the unjust is the peace and joy that reigns over their life while going through the storm; the kind of peace that Jesus gives that the world cannot understand. You’ve been given a solution for handling the storms of life… Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s PEACE, which exceeds anything we can understand. His PEACE will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).

If you are struggling with experiencing real joy, why not ask the Lord today to… restore to you the joy of your salvation (Psalm 51:12) and see Him anoint you afresh with the oil of joy and gladness.

But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord (Isaiah 54:17 AMP).

Recently, I was catching up with a friend who began to tell me of how the Lord saved her family from a major accident. Her family went out with her sister-in-laws car and on their way back, her sister-in-law asked her to drive the car which was odd. Anyway, she agreed but as she was driving, she heard the Lord say “stop the car”. She struggled to stop the car and few minutes after the car stopped, a ghastly motor accident happened just in front of them. She was dumbfounded. Reflecting back on what happened, she said perhaps the Lord knew her sister-in-law could not have heard His voice that’s why He prompted her to hand over the car.

Also, she said she immediately remembered what I wrote just a couple of days before the incident about EVERY REASON TO GIVE THANKS; How lives have been lost through accidents, disasters, illnesses etc. Amidst all these, we are still counted among the living and that is good reason to show appreciation to God. It’s not because we are more perfect, holy or beautiful than those who have died, but the grace and mercies of God have carried us this far.

We then started to talk of all the battles and near death experiences that the Lord has pulled us out off. I told her that while I was in Lagos, Nigeria, I passed the area where I had a major accident many years back where I was one of the few survivors and how later the Lord reminded me of how He has saved me from death so many times.

Our conversation then moved on to how the Lord assures us that… no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper… and I just love how the Message Translation puts it… NO WEAPON THAT CAN HURT YOU HAS EVER BEEN FORGED… This is what God’s servants can expect. I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best.” God’s Decree… This verse has been coming up ever since.

Saints of God, you may or may have no idea the plans the enemy has concerning you… but something you need to realise today is that… no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper… No weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged…FEAR NOT FOR… THE LORD WILL CONTINUE TO FRUSTRATE THE PLANS OF THE ENEMY where it concerns you… This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.

‎For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth (Psalm 139:13-15 NIV).

Reading this, I had to stop and say, “Lord help me to see myself as fearfully and wonderfully made”.

David said… “I KNOW THAT FULL WELL”. He probably said it in a way that says, “there’s nothing the devil can tell me that would make me have a dented image of myself… oh your head is too big… Your nose is too wide…. Your complexion is too dark… You are too short or too tall‎…”

This reminds me of a friend’s daughter who said she couldn’t wait till she turned 13. When I asked her why, she said it’s so that she could stop growing tall because she hated sitting at the back of the class. So I said “don’t you know that’s an advantage? You can see everything that’s going on in front of you”. But then she said she hated being the last when asked to line up.‎ “But that’s also a good thing because God is raising you to support others; for people to fall back on”, I said. But then she asked, “what about me? Who would catch me when I fall”? LOL… the Lord would.

Many time, we question why we are formed the way we are but in my book titled ‘Created and Formed for a Purpose’, I wrote that God didn’t make a mistake with any of us. God created and formed us just the way we are to suit His purpose and at times, that thing that we think makes us odd is the thing He wants to use to make us stand out. I remember a prominent female preacher saying that she hated her voice, but today, when you hear her voice, even without seeing her, you know that’s her speaking.

David said… You [Your eyes] saw my body as it was formed [embyro]. All the days planned [formed] for me were written in Your book before I was one day old… (Psalm 139:16 EXB). What this means to me is that God formed/shaped you with a plan in mind.

The mother of this young girl also jokingly told her that if she grew too tall, she would not find a husband to marry. I had to ask her to take that back because she already has enough of a negative mind-set about her appearance. Also, our words have power…. the tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences (Proverbs 18:21 NLT).
