BUT very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, BUT they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AMONG THE DEAD FOR SOMEONE WHO IS ALIVE? (Luke 24:1-5 NLT)
Beloved, the word ‘BUT’ always marks the turning point in the life of anyone that submits to God’s plan and it does not matter the deadness of the situation. Jesus Christ submitted to His Father’s will; a plan where God allowed the enemy to think He was in charge for a while. The enemy tortured Jesus and gave Him the death sentence hoping that it would silence Him once and for all. The enemy thought they could get rid of Him… BUT God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him (Acts 2:24 NIV).
WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AMONG THE DEAD FOR SOMEONE WHO IS ALIVE? …This is the testimony of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and thanks to Him, this is also the testimony of many of us today. The enemy’s plan is for people to look for us in the cemetery so that the plan of God will not be fulfilled in our lives BUT if God is for us, who can be against us?
We saw this in the life of Joseph. His brothers thought they could abort his dream…Here comes the dreamer they said. Let’s kill him and then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams (Genesis 37:19-20). BUT many years later, he stop above them and said…You intended to harm me, BUT God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people (Genesis 50:20).
there’s that word again ‘BUT’ marking a turning point in his story.
Beloved, the enemy thought he could get rid of Jesus… BUT the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for THOSE WHO LOVE HIM (1 Corinthians 2:8-9 NLT).
Beloved, there’s that word again…BUT…
God has great plans for His children which CANNOT BE ABORTED. All you need to do is submit to His will…THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. It may look like the enemy has the upper hand BUT if God allows it then there is indeed a BUT coming… And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. (Romans 8:28 NLT).
