The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From His throne He observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so He understands everything they do (Psalm 33:13-15 NLT).

Beloved, I wonder what goes through the Lord’s mind when we try to give Him reasons why we can’t do what He’s asked us to do.

I’m thinking about Ananias who was sent to minister to Saul, also known as Paul… The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.” “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon Your name.” (Acts 9:11-14 NLT)

Now, if you know anything about the Lord, you can admit that He’s not usually One to give you full details when He sends you on an assignment. Most times, you have to step out in faith trusting that He will tell you what you need to know when He feels you need to know it… no sooner and no later. But in this situation, the Lord gives Ananias the full details of His assignment. Nothing missing, but yet Ananias comes up with excuses. But Ananias, didn’t you hear anything the Lord has just told you? You’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things he has done but what about what I, the Lord, your God is saying? I just told you… “He is praying to me right now…” What do you think he is praying to Me about? That I should send Ananias so that I can arrest him for calling upon Your name?

Beloved, this is a case of what people say versus what the Lord says and if we keep listening to what people say, then we would only hear negative reports. Probably why Jesus asked His disciples… “Who do people say I am?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah (Mark 8:27-29 NLT).”

Some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah…

People can’t even come to the same conclusion and that’s why you have to have a personal word from the Lord. People may say… but this is what the Lord says…

Beloved, this is what the Lord says; I already know what’s ahead and … “I will go before you and level the mountains; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron (Isaiah 45:2 AMP).

David and his men immediately set out for Jerusalem to take on the Jebusites, who lived in that country. But they said, “You might as well go home! Even the blind and the lame could keep you out. You can’t get in here!” THEY HAD CONVINCED THEMSELVES THAT DAVID COULDN’T BREAK THROUGH. BUT DAVID WENT RIGHT AHEAD and captured the fortress of Zion, known ever since as the City of David (2 Samuel 5:6-7 MSG).

Beloved, you probably know by now that the enemy has vowed to do all he can to prevent you from being who God has called you to be so he would use all sorts of tactics to stop you. However, it will not work as far as you press on in Christ. In our feature text, we read about David who matched on and took what was his despite the intimidation from his enemies. The New King James Version says… NEVERTHELESS DAVID TOOK THE STRONGHOLD OF ZION… but the question is; what did he have to get rid of? It was … the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul (2 Samuel 5:8 NKJV).

Beloved, Jerusalem became the centre of Israel’s spiritual life and David had to get rid of the lame and blind standing in his way. So, for you today, is there anything that has spiritually blinded or paralysed you that you need to overcome? Satan builds MENTAL STRONGHOLDS which like I have shared before is defined as a mind-set impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable, situations that we know are contrary to the will of God. For example, because of reoccurring situations, past experiences, family background etc, we develop mind-sets that make us think… I’m hopeless, I’m cursed, I’m a failure… This presents a false view of God’s reality for your life.

Our feature text says… Even the blind and the lame could keep you out…

Beloved, if your mind is clouded by satan’s smoke screen, it will prevent you from seeing things the way God desires you to see them and it could keep you from your breakthrough. So, you must pull those strongholds down and you know that… we use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT).

Beloved, you are to use the truth in God’s word as a weapon to drive out these strongholds. You are not a failure, God always leads us into triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14). You are not hopeless… Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). And you are not cursed because Christ redeemed you from the curse of the Law (Galatians 3:13-14). Demolishing strongholds is the greatest breakthrough you can ever have. So, as you decide to be strengthened by God’s truth, I pray that you take hold of everything the Lord has for you.

27. September 2017 · Comments Off on HAVE YOU GOT ACTIVE FAITH? · Categories: Action, Faith, Jesus Christ, Prayer

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t IT OBVIOUS THAT GOD-TALK WITHOUT GOD-ACTS IS OUTRAGEOUS NONSENSE? (James 2:14-17 MSG)

…IT OBVIOUS THAT GOD-TALK WITHOUT GOD-ACTS IS OUTRAGEOUS NONSENSE?

Beloved, we’ve often been told that if you have faith, your prayers would be answered and so, the question is; “is it just faith alone?” Would you just sit-down there and pray, pray, pray without doing anything? Is there no corresponding action to go with your prayers? The Amplified version of our feature text says… faith, if it does not have works [to back it up], is by itself dead [inoperative and ineffective]. The Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says… faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).

I like what the Lord told Moses as Moses cried out to Him in the face of trouble. Moses had told the Israelites he was leading that… The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.” (Exodus 14:14 AMP). However, how did the Lord respond?… The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to move forward [toward the sea]. As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, so that the sons of Israel may go through the middle of the sea on dry land (Exodus 14:14-16 AMP).

Beloved, Moses had to take some action before he could see any results. We are also told of Cornelius… He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. HE GAVE GENEROUSLY TO THE POOR AND PRAYED REGULARLY TO GOD (Acts 10:2 NLT) and on one faithful day, an angel of God appeared to him in a vision and said…“YOUR PRAYERS AND GIFTS TO THE POOR have been RECEIVED BY GOD AS AN OFFERING! (Acts 10:4 NLT)

Beloved, God also noticed his gifts to the poor which He received as an offering to Himself and this set the ball rolling for this man and his family. God started moving people on his behalf. Peter had a vision and… as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, “Three men have come looking for you. Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation…” (Acts 10:19-20 NLT. This mans’ prayer backed with good deeds contributed to changing the destiny of the entire Gentiles (Acts 10:44-45).

Beloved, what am I trying to say? Can you decide on actions you can take to back your prayers? As you do so, I pray you receive a divine visitation that would turn things around for your family.

Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, [be diligently active, make thoughtful decisions], for you will find it after many days (Ecclesiastes 11:1 AMP).

Beloved, are you one that’s so afraid of taking risk? Well, if you are, then our feature text is for you. The New Living Translation which titles this “The Uncertainties of Life” says… Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you… while the Voice translation says… Don’t be afraid to release your bread upon the waters, for in due time you will find it.

According to my Bible notes, verse 1 to 6 of Ecclesiastes 11 “emphasise the element of risk and uncertainty in commercial and agricultural enterprise… Men and women must venture forth judiciously if they are ever to realise a gain, even though there is always a certain amount of risk”.

‘Judiciously’ means with good judgement or sense. So, off course you must use some sense in order to take a certain amount of risk or what some would call a calculated risk which is a risk that you consider worth taking because the result, if it is successful, will be so good.

Beloved, the Holy Spirit may have been nudging you to make some moves but you are afraid or perhaps waiting for all conditions to be perfect. However, Ecclesiastes 11 goes on to say… He who watches the wind [waiting for all conditions to be perfect] will not sow [seed], and he who looks at the clouds will not reap [a harvest]. Just as you do not know the way and path of the wind or how the bones are formed in the womb of a pregnant woman, even so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things. Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle with your hands in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening planting will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both alike will be good (Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 AMP).

According to my Bible notes “the person who is so cautious that he must wait for ideal time before he makes a move is doomed to fail”.

Beloved, at times, all you need is a word from God which may not make sense to anyone including yourself but obedience is key which was what Peter did. Jesus told him… “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! (Luke 5:4-6 NLT)

I like Peter because he isn’t afraid to take risks. He would walk on water if he has to… Then Peter called to Him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus (Matthew 14:28-29 NLT).

Beloved, don’t be afraid to take risks. With Jesus, you never know the outcome.

Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah [giving him supernatural strength]. He girded up his loins and outran Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel [nearly twenty miles] (1 Kings 18:46 AMP).

…GOD SPEED

Beloved, this was the phrase that was impressed in my spirit as I woke up yesterday morning and immediately my mind went to our feature text where the Prophet Elijah was given supernatural strength to get ahead. Perhaps, you are someone that has experienced so many delays for whatever reason. It could be because you have dwelt in one place long enough but as you decide to move forward and walk by faith, you don’t need to start worrying about what the enemy is telling you about all the time you have lost. This is because we serve a God that can redeem the times. We serve a God who is able to make things happen quickly.

The Message Translation of our feature text says… Things happened fast. The sky grew black with wind-driven clouds, and then a huge cloudburst of rain, with Ahab hightailing it in his chariot for Jezreel. And God strengthened Elijah mightily. Pulling up his robe and tying it around his waist, Elijah ran in front of Ahab’s chariot until they reached Jezreel (1 Kings 18:45-46 MSG).

Beloved, this is not the time to start worrying about limited time. However, it is time to get on your knees and ask the Lord for help so that He can empower you with the special supernatural strength, might and the kind of speed that He gave to Elijah to outrun the chariots.

It’s also the time to get serious. No more messing around. You don’t want to look back and regret any further for achieving nothing. I like that Elijah had to get rid of anything that would slow him down. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot (NLT).

Beloved, what this tells me is that it does not matter who has left you behind or how much you need to catch up. You can still catch up but you’ve got to be determined and get serious. So, why not ask the Lord for the kind of speed that outruns chariots and then see what happens? Remember, Apostle Paul said… I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace] (Philippians 4:13 AMP).

19. September 2017 · Comments Off on WALK BY FAITH · Categories: Action, Faith, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Trusting God

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV).

Beloved, according to our feature text, our Christian walk is one where we walk by faith, not by sight. This means that if anything at all, your faith should increase as the evidence you see decreases and not the other way round. The Message translation says… It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. So, is the fact that all evidence of what you are hoping for has disappeared keeping you going stronger in faith or has that voice overshadowed your mind; telling you that there’s no point… you shouldn’t bother anymore… that situation is dead and buried?

The Bible tells us of a time Jesus was interrupted by a lady in need while on His way to solve another man’s problem. We are told that… While He was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told Him, “Your daughter is dead. THERE’S NO USE TROUBLING THE TEACHER NOW.” But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “DON’T BE AFRAID. JUST HAVE FAITH.” (Mark 5:35-36 NLT)

Beloved, there are many voices telling you the same thing right now. These voices say it’s over. They say case closed. However, that’s lost hope. There’s no faith in that and without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). The good news is that Jesus knows those voices are speaking to you but He wants you to JUST HAVE FAITH and here’s something Jesus did that you too need to do.

When Jesus got to Jairus’ house and saw the crowd of negative voices… JESUS STOPPED THE CROWD AND WOULDN’T LET ANYONE GO WITH HIM EXCEPT PETER, JAMES, AND JOHN (THE BROTHER OF JAMES). When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” The crowd laughed at him. BUT HE MADE THEM ALL LEAVE… (Mark 5:37-40 NLT)

Beloved, on your journey of faith, there are some negative people and voices that can’t come along with you. For the kind of thing that Jesus wants to do in your life, get rid of the people laughing at you. Only those that can keep the faith alive are the ones that can come along. For everyone else… MAKE THEM ALL LEAVE… and that includes the voices in your head. What you need to do is to be surrounded by the word of God because faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17).

Beloved, read your Bible. Replay those messages and prophecies. Be persistent in prayer, in praise and in worship and as you do so I pray that just like the case of Jaruis’ daughter, to your amazement, you would experience what you’ve been hoping for immediately stand up and walk (Mark 5:42).

“Then we turned around and headed back across the wilderness toward the Red Sea, just as the Lord had instructed me, and WE WANDERED AROUND IN THE REGION OF MOUNT SEIR FOR A LONG TIME. “Then at last the Lord said to me, ‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; TURN TO THE NORTH (Deuteronomy 2:1-3 NLT).

Beloved, what do you do when caught up in a loop? You find yourself going around in circles doing the same thing over and over again without results. You find that you are stuck in one place and it seems there’s no way out.

In our feature text, Moses recaps the Israelites journey in the wilderness where they were in a similar situation. They had started their journey to their Promised Land but had to turn around and head back for the wilderness. Why? It was because when they were initially told to leave where they were, they complained about the journey ahead. They were afraid. They lacked courage because of the bad report brought back by those that went ahead of them. They were intimidated by giants and they failed to trust the Lord. It was a pity King David wasn’t around at the time to show them how to tackle giants.

Beloved, what bad report have you received from the people that have failed to achieve what you are trying to achieve that is now causing you to wander around in circles instead of moving forward? I like that the Lord gave them another chance and directed them to TURN TO THE NORTH and to prevent them from wasting their time and energy, He told them the places they should not occupy because it belonged to other people (Deuteronomy 2:5,9). Perhaps that’s the direction you need.

Moses continued, “Then the Lord said to us, ‘GET MOVING. Cross the Zered Brook.’ So we crossed the brook. “THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS passed from the time we first left Kadesh-barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook… (Deuteronomy 2:13-14 NLT)

THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS…

That’s how long it took them to wander and I can only think of the lame man by the pool of Bethesda. He had been lying there for THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS. His excuse was that… I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” Jesus told him, “STAND UP, PICK UP YOUR MAT, AND WALK!” (John 5:7-8 NLT)

Beloved, except you allow it, no one can get in the way of Jesus taking you to the higher level that He is calling you? The tradition of the environment this man found himself dictated that someone had to help him get there. However, what if they brought him a bad report each time? What if they were all about themselves? Jesus had to enlighten him; everyone here is in it for themselves. They all want to get out so you would be waiting a very long… STAND UP, PICK UP YOUR MAT, AND WALK

So, is Jesus speaking to you? Stop complaining. Stop being afraid. Stop being intimidated by giants. Trust the Lord and move forward.

Then He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” Then He said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! (Ezekiel 37:3-5 NLT).

Beloved, have you got an ‘ONLY GOD KNOWS’ situation‏? By this I mean, from the way things are going, you don’t have the confidence to say this is how this thing is going to turn out because in your eyes, it is more or less a dead situation. Such was the case with Ezekiel in our feature text but the Lord showed him that he could speak the word of the Lord over the situation to make it live again.

In the same way, you shouldn’t just sit there and watch things die. You should respond by prophesying life into that situation. If you know the mind of Christ then you know what He desires. Jesus said… The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10 NLT). His word also says… Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually] (3 John 2 AMPC). So, instead of sitting there wondering whether you would ever get well… whether you are ever going to succeed, why not prophecy and say “I’m going to get well… I’m going to succeed”. Locate what the word of God says and don’t stop speaking it.

Ezekiel said… So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone (Ezekiel 37:7 EXB).

Beloved, Ezekiel said “So ‘I’”, not the Lord, ‘I’ prophesied and something happened and while it may be a progressive thing where you don’t see all the results at once, just keep prophesying… Then He said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’” So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army (Ezekiel 37:9-10 NLT).

This is what the Sovereign Lord says… So I spoke … and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet…

Beloved,… Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words (Proverbs 18:21 AMP). Why not start speaking life into your situation?

After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising Him for His holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; His faithful love endures forever!” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount Seir and killed every one of them. After they had destroyed the army of Seir, they began attacking each other. So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped (2 chronicles 20:21-24 NLT)

Beloved, I remember a few years ago when I was a real cry baby, a prophet walked up to me and said; “Do you know what the Lord has equipped you with?” He went on to say that “the Lord has equipped you so that your greatest tool against the enemy is your praise and as you keep praising God, you would see Him fighting your enemies for you”.

Wow, no wonder the enemy would try to do everything to silence your praise but we ought to let Him know He won’t succeed.

Yesterday morning, as I was reading our feature text, I felt the Holy Spirit impress in me the need to spend the next few days just praising the Lord and as I was praying with my prayer partner later on, I told her to open her Bible to 2 chronicles 20. However, before I could say another word, she shouted and said she was reading that same chapter yesterday morning and she also felt the Holy Spirit saying the same thing to her.

Beloved, the Bible says… “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1 NKJV). This is the season to praise hard because you are embarking on serious warfare. It doesn’t matter what situation you find yourself, you must activate your praise. Off course, there are times when the devil would try fighting you so you can’t even open your mouth but the prophet went on to say that “even in the middle of the night, when you find yourself crying and can’t find the words to pray, just worship God as you cry‎ and watch what He does”.

What was the result of the people’s praise? Not a single one of their enemy escaped and then… King Jehoshaphat and his men went out to gather the plunder. They found vast amounts of equipment, clothing, and other valuables—more than they could carry. There was so much plunder that it took them three days just to collect it all! ON THE FOURTH DAY they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the Lord there. It is still called the Valley of Blessing today (2 Chronicles 20:25-26 NLT).

Beloved, when praises go up, blessings come down. It’s time to Praise your way through the remaining days of July.

For God shows no partiality [undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another] (Romans 2:11 AMPC).

Beloved, I like that the Lord is no respecter of persons. Everyone, regardless of your background, education, race, past, whatever can approach Him. Our feature text says He doesn’t discriminate. He sees everything that goes on in the earth. He sees everyone and knows us personally by name.

I’m thinking of a man called Zacchaeus, a very rich tax collector, but there comes a time when everything you’ve got no longer has the ability to satisfy you; a typical case of been there… done it… but I’m now at the point where I believe there’s more to life.

I also like that the Lord somehow makes it impossible for us to reach perfection without him so I believe your shortcomings are there for a purpose. No matter how much money Zacchaeus had, it could not buy him height. The Bible says he was a short man and maybe he had been searching for things to fill that gap. I’m sure people made fun of him and he may have thought perhaps if he had all the money, he would fit in but it didn’t work. He was still short so at some point he decided that the height he couldn’t achieve physically, he had to achieve spiritually. He decided to seek God and we know that God… IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM (Hebrews 11:6 NLT).

The Message translation says… He cares enough to respond to those who seek Him. Zacchaeus was desperate; he didn’t care what others thought. He sought after Jesus. He made up his mind that Jesus was not going to pass by without noticing him… So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. When Jesus came by, HE LOOKED UP AT ZACCHAEUS AND CALLED HIM BY NAME. “Zacchaeus!” He said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” (Luke 19:4-5 NLT)

Beloved, Jesus always knows where to look. He can always tell from amongst the crowd that one person that is sincerely looking for Him and I like that He would stop everything else to attend to you. He was passing by but He decided to drop by in Zacchaeus house. Why? Only because Zacchaeus decided to climb higher.

You may think you have shortcomings but regardless of what they are, Jesus can fill the gap and as far as you decide that enough is enough; I want to let go of everything that I’ve been using to disguise my shortcomings and just seek after Him… I want to position myself where He can find me… He would reward your sincere effort. Be encouraged to go higher in your walk with the Lord regardless of how low you think you are right now.
