And Adam knew Eve as his wife, and she became pregnant and bore Cain; and she said, I have gotten and gained a man WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD. And [next] she gave birth to his brother Abel… (Genesis 4:1-2 AMPC).

Beloved, Happy mother’s day to all you wonderful mothers and mothers to be out there. I have great news for you… NOTHING CAN STOP YOU! I was just reflecting on all the agony Eve had to go through. From her very first appearance on the scene of this earth, the devil was after her. Yes, she fell. Yes her actions had consequences but no matter how she struggled… No matter what life brought her way, she PREVAILED. She had to go through hard labour but WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Because of the enmity between the offspring of satan and her offspring (Genesis 3:15), there was war in her household and even after she lost both sons, her story did not end there, she… again became pregnant, and she bore a son and called his name Seth. For God, she said, has appointed for me another child…(Genesis 4:25 AMPC)… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, since that time, women struggled with all sorts of issues. Barrenness was top on the list but when the world thought it was all over for Sarah, Rachael, Rebecca, Hannah, Elizabeth and the like, the Lord changed their stories… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… they PREVAILED…

And then the angel of the Lord appeared to one very special woman… And he came to her and said, Hail, O favored one [endued with grace]! The Lord is with you! Blessed (favored of God) are you before all other women!…And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace (free, spontaneous, absolute favor and loving-kindness) with God. And listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus (Luke 1:28-31 AMPC).

The enemy fought that Son… He was crucified. Mary probably thought she had lost Him forever but He resurrected… He ascended in to Heaven and… On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place…. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them (Acts 2:1,3 NLT). That was the Holy Spirit coming to dwell inside of them. Mary, the mother of Jesus was there (Acts 1:14). She felt her Son inside her once again… She was a favored one… WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD… she PREVAILED…

Beloved, such would be your case… you would keep on PREVAILING. On this special mother’s day, you blessed woman, favored of God, may you receive a special visitation from the Lord. May you receive gifts that you know… THIS CAN ONLY BE GOD.

08. February 2017 · Comments Off on ON THE TOPIC OF LOVE · Categories: Help, Jesus Christ, Love, Relationship, Restoration, Spiritual Growth

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous [envious], it does not brag, and it is not proud [arrogant; conceited; puffed up]. Love is not rude [disrespectful], is not selfish [self-serving], and does not get upset with others [is not easily provoked/angered]. Love does not count up [keep a record of] wrongs that have been done. Love takes no pleasure [does not rejoice] in evil [wrongdoing; injustice] but rejoices over the truth. Love patiently accepts all things [bears all things; or always protects], always trusts [believes all things], always hopes [hopes all things], and always endures [endures all things] (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 EXB).

Beloved, reading this, one of the first things that came to mind is that we often like to ask people what I now consider to be one of the most foolish questions one can ask… “DO YOU LOVE ME?” Well, saying it is one thing but showing it is something different. Like they say “action speaks louder than words”.

Also, I believe there are more than a million resources out there that try to sell tips on how to know if someone loves you. However, how about what the Bible has to say on the topic? Have you gone through the above checklist to find your answer?

We often tell people we love them but to be honest, do you really love like this? Love does not brag and it is not proud [arrogant; conceited; puffed up]… Love does not count up [keep a record of] wrongs and may I add, does not count scores… does not play games and does not hurt others in the process.

Beloved, right in the middle of this chapter on love, Apostle Paul said… When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I stopped [set aside] those childish ways (1 Corinthians 13:11 EXB). Now, the question is… what is your childish ways costing you? Isn’t it time to grow up and put away those childish behaviours and just be real?

Out of love, though tired and worn out, Jesus sat by the well waiting for the Samaritan woman knowing that she would eventually turn up (John 4:6-7) because love is patient… love always hopes [hopes all things], and always endures [endures all things]…. In the end, she was able to drop her heavy water jar and was free (John 4:28).

Love is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit… the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: LOVE, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT)

Beloved, do you need to step aside of yourself and allow the Holy Spirit work in you so you can be fruitful. That situation that you’ve currently found yourself in could be a set up for your restoration and fruitfulness.

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty COME TO ME and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, RIVERS OF LIVING WATER WILL FLOW FROM WITHIN THEM.” BY THIS HE MEANT THE SPIRIT… (John 7:37-39 NIV).

Beloved, most times there’s always the tendency to reach out to other things to fulfil our desires and needs but we often fail to realise what we carry on the inside. The KJV of our feature text says… OUT OF HIS BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER. This is what Jesus promised us and BY THIS HE MEANT THE SPIRIT. Before Jesus was crucified, He said… I will ask the Father, and He will give you another COMFORTER (COUNSELOR, HELPER, INTERCESSOR, ADVOCATE, STRENGTHENER, AND STANDBY), that He may remain with you forever— The Spirit of Truth… you know and recognize Him, FOR HE LIVES WITH YOU [CONSTANTLY] AND WILL BE IN YOU (John 14:16-17 AMP).

So, what’s inside of you?

A COMFORTER is someone that comforts, eases, reliefs and relaxes you. A COMFORTER is one that helps you to feel less worried, upset or frightened. Most times, people would reach out to various things to get this comfort and I’m not about to list them but you know what you resort to. For me it’s mostly food. I’ve always got the tendency to turn to food to find some sort of satisfaction when I’m feeling down but we know the result of that; momentary satisfaction followed by a sense of guilt and a whole load of health-related problems… it’s not always the devil responsible for those health problems you know.

Beloved, it’s interesting when you do a Google search for COMFORTER that one of the first things you would see is a special type of blanket (quilts or duvets), filled with insulative material that gives you warmth. It is mainly used in cold countries and if you live in one, you know its value. Imagine that wrapped around you? Most times when it gets very cold, you can’t wait to get home and get under your duvet. But not just that, at times when you feel down, you just want to crawl in bed and with the lights off, cover yourself up from head to toe with your duvet, hoping that it would all go away and while it may help for a while, you can’t lie there forever.

However, everything you are looking for to give you relief is inside of you; OUT OF YOUR BELLY; which means you exchange worldly comfort, peace and joy for what has already been deposited inside of you. All you need to do is PUT YOUR HAND ON YOUR BELLY and say… IT’S IN ME… Holy Spirit… I need the kind of comfort that only You can provide.

Even though they may look or act like godly people, they’re not. They deny His power. I tell you: Stay away from the likes of these. They’re snakes slithering into the houses of vulnerable women, women gaudy with sin, to seduce them. These reptiles can capture them because these women are weak and easily swayed by their desires (2 Timothy 3:5-6 Voice).

Beloved, this post may not be for everyone but it’s something that I’ve been prompted to share. One of the many cases the Lord is dealing with in this season is that of the so-called Christian brothers who go from church to church and like what our feature text highlights, their victim are vulnerable women who in most cases are desperate for love, affection and attention and so would jump on any Christian brother that claims to be single. I say so-called Christian brother because they look the part, talk the talk, even speak in tongues but they are not what they claim to be. Again, like our feature text says… Even though they may look or act like godly people, they’re not. They need to truly surrender to God.

Unfortunately, like the way satan deceived Eve, these men are experts at twisting the word of God and because these vulnerable women are not well grounded in the Word, they fall prey. However, once these men get what they want, it’s good bye see you later and they are on to the next woman who is gullible enough to fall prey.

Beloved, while its had to think that this is happening in the body of Christ, unfortunately, it is and many vulnerable women have fallen victim to it. However, I know when I hear the Lord and He has heard their cries and though He may have allowed you to go through some things just to humble you and get your attention, it’s time for these so-called players to either repent or face the judgement of God. This is a case of how the Lord first used nations like Babylon to humble the Israelites. However, after humbling the Israelites, He then took it in turns to deal with these nations; “How dare you treat My children like that?

Beloved, unfortunately, we tend to do things to God’s children thinking that we can get away with it. We think no one sees us but the Bible says… Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap (Galatians 6:7 AMP) and… Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right [by executing just and righteous judgment]? (Genesis 18:25 AMP). SELAH!

Women, especially single women need to be very careful and be on guard. Like the Bible says… Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 AMP).

For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. HAVING THEREFORE OBTAINED HELP OF GOD, I CONTINUE UNTO THIS DAY, witnessing both to small and great… (Acts 26:21-22 KJV)

Beloved, reflecting on the life of Apostle Paul, he was faced with many challenges but in our feature text, standing in front of his accusers and persecutors, he was able to declare that… HAVING THEREFORE OBTAINED HELP OF GOD, I CONTINUE UNTO THIS DAY…

Beloved, is this also your testimony? I have heard some disastrous things that have happened to some families recently and just reflecting on them makes me acknowledge the fact that we have every reason to thank God because He has fought so many battles on our behalf (many we don’t even know about) to ensure that we see this day.

Apostle Paul always knew that he had enemies that wanted to get rid of him and he knew that it was because he was preaching the message of Jesus Christ. And while we may all have various reasons why the enemy fights us, one reason is certain. As far as you have chosen to follow Jesus Christ, you become an enemy to the devil. Personally, I have faced many battles but my testimony is the same as Apostle Paul’s… HAVING THEREFORE OBTAINED HELP OF GOD, I CONTINUE UNTO THIS DAY…

I like the way the New Living Translation put it… But God has protected me right up to this present time…

Apostle Paul was able to acknowledge that it was God that had spared his life to this present day and though we should acknowledge Him every single day of our lives, I believe there are pivotal moments when we should stop everything we are doing; stop the complaining and moaning about how things aren’t going the way we planned, reflect back and spend a good amount of time acknowledging and thanking God for His protection over us. Like Scripture says… if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us (Psalm 124:2-3 NIV)

Beloved, we are living in difficult times and we ought to be very grateful that we have Jesus to look up to. We need the Lord’s help now more than ever to see us and our families through. Psalm 121 is a good Psalm to meditate on… I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber…

Beloved, as you look on to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, I pray that He sees you through the remaining part of the year. That He would hold your hand as you continue your journey and you too would be able to say that… HAVING THEREFORE OBTAINED HELP OF GOD, I CONTINUE UNTO THIS DAY…

“Now listen, Tattenai… and all officials of that land: STAY OUT OF THEIR WAY. LEAVE THE GOVERNOR AND LEADERS OF THE JEWS ALONE SO THEY CAN WORK ON THAT TEMPLE OF GOD AS THEY REBUILD IT. I hereby give official orders on how you are to help… in the rebuilding of that Temple of God:

1) All construction costs are to be paid to these men from the royal bank out of the taxes coming in… and pay them on time, without delays. 2) Whatever is required for their worship…is to be given to them daily without delay…

I’ve issued an official decree… and may the God who put His Name on that place wipe out any king or people who dares to defy this decree and destroy the Temple of God… I, Darius, have issued an official decree. CARRY IT OUT PRECISELY AND PROMPTLY”. Tattenai…, Shethar-Bozenai, and their associates did it: They carried out the decree of Darius precisely and promptly (Ezra 6:6-13 MSG).

Beloved, the above was a verdict passed by King Darius which got me so excited as I read it yesterday. I was like… WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Tattenai, but this wasn’t your plan.

So what was Tattenai’s plan? Well, …Zerubbabel…and Jeshua… started again, rebuilding The Temple of God… Tattenai, Shethar-Bozenai, and their associates came… and asked, “Who issued you a permit to rebuild this Temple and restore it to use?” (Ezra 5:2-4 MSG).

Unfortunately, Tattenai, the governor wanted to disrupt the Lord’s work so he went straight to the king to report what they were doing… but God had his eye on the leaders of the Jews, and the work wasn’t stopped until a report could reach Darius and an official reply be returned (Ezra 5:2-4 MSG).

Now, here was the content of Tattenai’s letter… we want to report to the king that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God that is being rebuilt… The work is going on with great energy and in good time… So now, if it please the king, look up the records in the royal archives in Babylon and see if it is indeed a fact that Cyrus the king issued an official building permit authorizing the rebuilding of the Temple of… And then send the king’s ruling on this matter to us… (Ezra 5:8-17 MSG)

As requested, Darius ordered a search and his verdict was “leave them alone” but not just that, “You are to help them with the rebuilding”.

Hmmm… can anyone stop the Lord’s work? Jesus said… “when you are brought to trial… don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say (Luke 12:11 NLT).

Beloved… we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them (Romans 8:28 NLT) and there are times when He would stir things up so He can bring justice to some unresolved matters. It’s time to trust that the MASTER PLANNER is working out something for your good. Just trust the One who says He is… able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

SELAH

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD (1 Samuel 30:6 KJV).

Beloved, Scripture says… to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more (Luke 12:48 NKJV). So, don’t be deceived, any kind of leadership position be it a parent, a minister, a boss or a supervisor, can be a great burden. So, what do you do when all odds are against you and all the people that look up to you now turn against you because they no longer have faith in you? They are very distressed but you too are also distressed. Times like that can be overwhelming but it’s not the time to give up. Rather it’s the time to turn to the Lord.

David had just been sent back home, rejected from going to battle with the Philistines, only to find out that they had been raided. Their town was burned to the ground, and their wives and children taken as prisoners. David and his men wept until they were exhausted. Out of frustration, his men turned on him. It’s your fault David. They were about to stone him to death. Maybe it would make them feel better. But David didn’t say his last prayer. NO. He turned to God.

The Amplified Bible says …DAVID ENCOURAGED AND STRENGTHENED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD. He must have remembered all the promises God had made to him and knowing that they still had to be fulfilled, he determined in his heart that this can’t be the end. He asked God for strength, reaffirmation and direction.

David prayed to God, “Shall I go after these raiders? Can I catch them?” The answer came, “Go after them! Yes, you’ll catch them! Yes, you’ll make the rescue!” (1 Samuel 30:7-8 MSG)

David found renewed strength. He went after that devil… David pounced. He fought them from before sunrise until evening of the next day. None got away except for four hundred of the younger men who escaped by riding off on camels. David rescued everything the Amalekites had taken. And he rescued his two wives! Nothing and no one was missing—young or old, son or daughter, plunder or whatever. David recovered the whole lot. He herded the sheep and cattle before them, and they all shouted, “David’s plunder!” (1 Samuel 30:17-20 MSG)

That’s how the story ends. Had David given up, he would have lost everything… What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 NKJV).

Beloved, don’t think of quitting. Find strength in the Lord. Blank out everything and turn to His word. He will tell you how ‘He will never leave nor forsake you’. He will tell you that ‘you are more than a conqueror’. He will show you the way out. He will tell you the victory that is ahead of you.

In the crowd, Jesus noticed one particular man who had been living with his disability for 38 years. He knew this man had been waiting here a long time.
[JESUS]: Are you here in this place hoping to be healed?
[DISABLED MAN]: Kind Sir… I cannot walk. If I am to be healed in the waters, someone must carry me into the pool. WITHOUT A HELPING HAND, someone else beats me to the water’s edge each time it is stirred.
[JESUS]: Stand up, carry your mat, and walk… He stood and walked for the first time in 38 years… (John 5:5-9 VOICE).

Beloved, I learnt something about the developmental process of a butterfly. I learnt that as part of the butterfly struggling to emerge from its cocoon, it manages to make a small hole which is often too small for its body to get through it and after a long struggle to come out through the hole, it often gets exhausted and may have to remain still for a while to regain strength. At this point, an observer might want to help the butterfly cut open the cocoon to release the butterfly but if you do that, it can never fly again. In fact, I read that if you help it, the butterfly that emerges ends up having small, unformed wings and eventually dies.

The fact is that the butterfly needs the struggle of coming out of its cocoon to push out a certain fluid into its wings to stretch it out and open it up so that it can fly. Also, it strengthens its wings by beating them against the cocoon so that its muscles can grow strong. So, basically, the strength the butterfly develops from the struggle is what it needs to fly and survive and so it is doomed if helped with the process.

Beloved, many times we stunt our developmental process because we are always looking to someone to help us with situations designed for our personal growth.

In our feature text, this man was bound for 38 years and was depending on the help of others but what he needed to do was STAND UP, CARRY HIS MAT AND WALK (Of course with the help of Jesus).

Perhaps you are a rescuer. Every little thing and you want to rescue or bail people out from one mess or the other. Not that there’s anything wrong with helping people and it’s sometimes hard watching someone you care about struggle but out of your kindness and eagerness to help the caterpillar in the cocoon stage, they can’t ever fly. They don’t have the strength to stand on their own so you need to be able to discern whether your bailing this person out all the time is for their own good.

Beloved, when you help a butterfly, you prevent it from developing the muscles it would need to survive. Are you disrupting yours or someone else’s growth process? Would you/they ever be able to STAND UP, CARRY THEIR MAT AND WALK?

25. March 2016 · Comments Off on WON’T THE JUDGE OF THIS EARTH DO WHAT IS RIGHT? · Categories: Grace, Help, Mercy, Relationship, Restoration

Surely it can’t be Your nature to do something like that—to kill the right-living along with those who act wickedly, to consign the innocent to the same fate as the guilty. It is inconceivable to me that You, my God, would do anything like that! Will not the “Merciful and Loving Judge” of all the earth do what is just? (Genesis 18:25 VOICE)

Many have a picture of a harsh God and the devil has done a very good job at making us see God incorrectly. He operates very effectively under this religious spirit that is all about the laws of God but beloved, even when the Israelites were under strict laws, we occasionally see some bold individuals who decided to take a bold step and reason with God and in those cases, we see the heart of God because he heard their case‎ and reasoned with them.

Abraham is one of such cases. We see from our feature text that he was able to negotiate with God. And then we have some few Israelite men who asked Moses… Why should we be disallowed from offering the Eternal’s sacrifice along with the rest of the Israelites at the appropriate time, just because the disposing of a dead body made us ritually impure? (Numbers 9:7 VOICE).

What did Moses do? He said… Just hold on a little while. Let me find out what the Eternal has to say about it (Numbers 9:8 VOICE).

Beloved, God listened to their argument and this is what He told Moses… Tell the Israelites, if any one of you or your descendants becomes ritually impure due to the necessity of handling a dead body, he can nevertheless still celebrate My Passover a month after everyone else does… (Numbers 9:9-10 VOICE).

And then, we also have the Daughters of Zelophehad who didn’t have any sons to claim his inheritance but they matched up to Moses saying… Our father died in the wilderness… but he left no sons. Why should his name disappear from his clan simply because no boys were born to him? We request that you give us land of our own… Moses disappeared inside the tent to ask the Eternal One what should be done, and He answered Moses. Zelophehad’s daughters make a good point. They’re right, so do as they ask. Give them an inheritance such as would be given to a son… (Numbers 27:3-7 VOICE).

Beloved, they got God to change the law.

So, what am I trying to say? Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right? (NLT). The Lord yearns to have a real relationship with you ‎regardless of what you think is separating you from Him and today He is saying… Come now, and let us reason together… (Isaiah 1:18)… The Voice Translation says…Come on now, let’s walk and talk; let’s work this out…  So… step boldly to the throne of grace, where we can find mercy and grace to help when we need it most (Hebrews 4:16 VOICE).

22. March 2016 · Comments Off on WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE? · Categories: God's Plan, Help, Jesus Christ, Prayer, Testimony

One day the widow… came to Elisha and cried out, “…a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE?”… (2 Kings 4:1-2 NLT).

Beloved, I want to share a testimony of a family of four children; two girls and two boys born in that order. The two girls were born in the UK but a couple of years after the second girl was born, their parents left the UK for their home country in Africa where they later had their two boys.

They spent a long time in Africa until things became really difficult for the family. As time went on, the family took it in turns to settle back in the UK and for both sisters already being UK citizens, it wasn’t such a difficult process. However, for everyone else, they had to come over with visiting visas which had many restrictions including a limited period of stay.

This soon became a problem especially when the time came to renew the youngest son’s visa. It almost looked like a dead end but then he began to cry out to the Lord and the Lord started to direct his steps and he began to ask his parents questions; “When you guys were here; didn’t you apply for British naturalisation?” “Yes, but we didn’t wait for a response before leaving”, they replied.

So, he proceeded to ask the home office about that application. They replied back to say the application was granted and a letter posted to his parents. However, migrating back to Africa, his parents had sold their house a week before the letter arrived so it was sent back to the home office.

In a nutshell, what this revelation meant was that both parents and every child born to them after the date their naturalisation was issued were automatically British Citizens ‎and didn’t need any visa to stay in the UK. So, within one week of that conversation, four British passports were issued and the parents and sons who once had visa problems were now able to stay freely in the country.

Why am I sharing this story? Recently, I was telling someone that most times, the answer to our problem is right in front of us. In our feature text, Elisha asked the widow “WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE?”

We also see something similar with Hagar who was crying because of her son’s need but… God opened Hagar’s eyes. She looked up from her grief and saw a well of water not far away. She went over to it, filled the container she carried with water, and gave the young man a drink (Genesis 21:19 VOICE).

Beloved, these parents left the UK in 1973 and this testimony happened in 2003. So, for 30 years, even before there was a problem, they already had the answer. It just took God to open their eyes to the answer at the time of need. So, isn’t it time to start asking the Lord to open your eyes to see what’s already in your house?
