FOR GOD IS NOT UNJUST. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do (Hebrews 6: 10 NLT).

Beloved, only yesterday, someone told me that they won a HUGE sum of money and I was almost tempted to say, Lord, WHAT ABOUT ME? I’ve been labouring and praying and fasting for a sudden supernatural supply. However, I remembered the message of yesterday titled ‘WHAT ABOUT ME?’ and couldn’t help but think God You are so funny. You sure prepared me for this one.

Beloved, have you ever felt God was unfair? You’ve been waiting on His promises. You’ve been faithful and have done everything He asked you to do but nothing and it just seems like He bypasses you. So, now you are like… well… whatever… Your heart has become sick (Proverbs 13:12). Is that you? Please don’t let your spirit be down. Keep doing what you know to do. God’s promise still stands. Our feature text lets us know GOD IS NOT UNJUST. The Chapter goes on to talk about God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in His own name, saying: “I will certainly bless you….” (Hebrews 6: 13-14 NLT)

Can you imagine God saying: “I swear by My Almighty self that…”?

Beloved, God’s word is enough to assure us that He will fulfil His promises and we are meant to take Him by His word. But then, He takes it a step further… God also bound Himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be PERFECTLY SURE THAT HE WOULD NEVER CHANGE HIS MIND. So God has given both HIS PROMISE AND HIS OATH. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a STRONG AND TRUSTWORTHY ANCHOR for our souls… (Hebrews 6:17-19 NLT)

Isn’t that reassuring? However, I must stress that our continued OBEDIENCE and SACRIFICE is important. God swore to Abraham after Abraham obeyed His command to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. We must be willing to and keep doing what God tells us to do regardless of how hard it may seem. The other thing is to be PATIENT… Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised (Hebrews 6:15).

Beloved, an anchor is a strong device that is used to connect a boat to the bed of a body of water to prevent it from drifting or moving due to wind or current. This is to say that you should hang on firmly to what God has promised. He will fulfil it… For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God (2 Corinthians 1:20 AMP). Can I hear an amen?

…be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you] (Romans 12:2 AMP).

Beloved, there are times when the Lord has to really do some deep surgery in us in order to help us let go of some negative mind-sets so that we go from someone who thinks only negative things happen to them to someone who sees themselves as highly favoured by God.

I’m thinking of Hannah who at one time must have thought that she wasn’t favoured because she was barren but even her name ‘Hannah’ in Hebrew means ‘Favor; grace’. Hannah was a favoured woman. The Lord was just waiting for her to get in alignment with Him through positioning and prayer.

Beloved, when you’ve been through a lot of negative, repeated cycles, there’s the tendency to think that this time is just going to be like the last time. You start to replay it all in your head. You say “I know exactly how this is going to end” and how do you know so? It’s because it’s happened before. However, that’s your past prophesying to your future and the sad thing is that… the tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences (Proverbs 18:21 NLT).

In order to find joy, peace, love and the abundant life that the Lord has for you, you have to be vulnerable enough to breakdown your walls and put yourself out there and most importantly, you would definitely have to trust in the faithfulness of the Lord big time.

The Bible says… “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV). The New Living Translation says… For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

Beloved, the Lord always wants to do something new in our lives. However, the problems with many of us is that we talk ourselves out of the new thing because we don’t want to let go of the old. But Apostle Paul said in order to move forward… one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV).

Beloved, your past does not get to prophesy into your future… let it go… Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

…“Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them? Your ancestors did the same thing… After they went up to the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the people of Israel from entering the land the Lord was giving them (Numbers 32:7-9 NLT).

Beloved, today’s word is similar to what I posted yesterday but there’s probably a reason why I need to share again. In my short walk with the Lord, something I’ve had to quickly learn is to completely tune out the voices of naysayers; that is, people that look for one million reasons why something isn’t going to work. That also includes the voice in my own head. Once I’m absolutely sure I’ve heard from the Lord, I immediately step out and worry about the details/feelings later. By then, I would have already committed myself so there’s no going back.

It is very important that you hear this today because most of the things you haven’t been able to achieve is merely because you’ve allowed people to discourage and talk you out of them. You need to realise that because someone couldn’t achieve it doesn’t mean you can’t. Your situations may be different. There could be many reasons ‎why they couldn’t achieve certain things… disobedience or partial obedience… wrong motives… wrong timing… failure to fully trust God and so on…

While it’s important to learn from people’s experience, let’s not forget ‎that God told Moses… “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” (Exodus 33:19 NKJV).

Beloved, you ought to ask yourself this question; how am I sure that I’m not the ‘WHOM I WANT TO SHOW KINDNESS AND FAVOUR TO?‎’

I’m reminded of when Jesus said… “Certainly there were many needy widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the heavens were closed for three and a half years, and a severe famine devastated the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a foreigner—a widow of Zarephath in the land of Sidon. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, but the only one healed was Naaman, a Syrian.” (Luke 4:25-27 NLT)

In both cases, the nationality of those favoured didn’t hinder them so neither should yours or anything else you think may disqualify you.

Never allow people ‎discourage you. Regardless of how many people come back with a bad report, you must be like Caleb and Joshua who chose to see things differently. The Lord said nobody would receive what I promised… the only exceptions are Caleb… and Joshua…, for they have wholeheartedly followed the Lord.’‎ (Numbers 32:12 NLT)‎.

‎ Beloved, all you need to do is wholeheartedly follow the Lord. Only then would you see that God… is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think (Ephesians 3:20 NLT)

Moses gave the men these instructions as he sent them out to explore the land “… See what the land is like, and find out whether the people living there are strong or weak, few or many… DO YOUR BEST TO BRING BACK SAMPLES OF THE CROPS YOU SEE…” (Numbers 13:17-20 NLT)

Beloved, one of the people we must try to avoid as the Lord leads us towards His promises are those that can only see problems. This was the case of the 10 spies in our feature text. Moses sent them to explore the Promised Land of Canaan. So, off they went but what did they see?

This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country- a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. BUT the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there… (Numbers 13:27-28)

Their focus was on the problem but for one man, Caleb. They obviously didn’t have the same vision… “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge.” We even saw giants there… NEXT TO THEM WE FELT LIKE GRASSHOPPERS, AND THAT’S WHAT THEY THOUGHT, TOO!” (Numbers 13:30-32)

GRASSHOPPERS!!! Is that what they told you? How were you able to bring back some of the kind of fruit the land produces then? How small do you see yourself?

Unfortunately, their bad report discouraged a whole community causing them to give up (Numbers 14:1). Joshua and Caleb tried to direct their focus to the Lord… They said to all the people of Israel, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us… don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but THE LORD IS WITH US! Don’t be afraid of them!” (Numbers 14:7-9). It didn’t work. They even tried to stone them and God wasn’t pleased. Though Moses tried to plead for them, the damage had already been done. The Lord said none of them will see the Promised Land except for Joshua and Caleb who had a different attitude (Numbers 14:20-24).

Beloved, are you surrounded by people that always see why things won’t work? How many times have you given up on something because they discouraged you? Isn’t it time to get rid of the crowd and only hold on to your ‘Joshua and Caleb’?

Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom[a] and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance (Ephesians 1:17-18 AMPC)

Beloved, how’s your ability to see? Meditating on the story of the time the Israelites under the leadership‎ of Joshua matched round the wall of Jericho to bring the walls down, you would find that the very first thing the Lord told them to do even before they matched round the wall of Jericho was to SEE! The Bible says… And the Lord said to Joshua: “SEE! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor (Joshua 6:2 NKJV).

This is the same thing the Lord told Abraham… And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are – northward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you SEE I give to you and your descendants forever (Genesis 13:14-15 NKJV).

Beloved, the Lord would always address your ability to SEE for so it’s important that you get rid of everything and everyone that blocks your vision. Abraham had to get rid of Lot whose name means veil. I’m also thinking of the Prophet Isaiah who said… It was in the year King Uzziah died that I SAW the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of His robe filled the Temple ‎(Isaiah 6:1 NLT).‎

I was meditating on who Uzziah‎ represented. He represents one that became very proud after he became very powerful (2 Chronicles 26: 16) and I can just imagine that with such a person as your leader, they would want you to always come through them. They have to be the one to pray for you, hear from God for you, read the Bible for you etc. You have no direct relationship with the Lord. They would even want to exalt themselves above the Lord in your life but it was when Uzziah died that Isaiah saw the Lord. ‎‎

Beloved, Apostle Paul in our feature text said was praying for our ability to see the plans the Lord on another level. This is a deep spiritual call because like the Bible says… ‎ “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things BY HIS SPIRIT. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us (1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NLT).

Beloved, the Israelites had to SEE before they conquered. Have you the ability to see beyond what you are currently seeing?

Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born. And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh; all who hear will laugh with me. And she said, WHO WOULD HAVE SAID to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children at the breast? For I have borne him a son in his old age! (Genesis 21:5-7 AMPC)

Beloved, when we read the Bible stories, we must conclude that there’s no case that the Lord has not already dealt with and the interesting thing is that He is an expert at acting when people have decided that this case is closed; let’s bury it.

Sarah received a miracle that shocked her and she said… WHO WOULD HAVE SAID… which simply means that despite the fact that the Lord had made a promise, everyone had concluded that the case was closed. It wasn’t something that they could ever imagine happening… yet Sarah said here I am! I’ve given the old man a son (MSG) … For Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, AT THE SET TIME GOD HAD TOLD HIM (Genesis 21:2 AMPC).

Beloved, the Bible says… You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come (Psalm 102:13 NKJV). The Bible also says… It seemed like a dream, too good to be true, when God returned Zion’s exiles. We laughed, we sang, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. We were the talk of the nations— “God was wonderful to them!” God was wonderful to us; we are one happy people (Psalm 126:1-3 MSG).

I was sharing with my prayer partner that when the Lord says… “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV), I cannot even begin to imagine what else the Lord wants to do because like I said, that there’s no case imaginable that He hasn’t already dealt with.

Beloved, what can be greater than raising the dead back to life? What can be greater than causing a ninety something year old woman to conceive and have a child? What can be greater than all the Bible stories that the Lord is saying we’ve not seen, nor heard or dreamt of? However, God is not a man that would lie (Numbers 23:19). If He said it, then, it means that its possible for Him to do what we’ve never seen or heard of before and I volunteer myself as a recipient of what He has in mind.

Beloved, has the Lord made you a promise? Here’s something to hold on to…

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV).

Why not continue to praise Him?

Now after this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, AND FOR FIVE MONTHS SHE SECLUDED HERSELF COMPLETELY, SAYING, “This is how the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor on me, to take away my disgrace among men.” (Luke 1:24-25 AMP)

Beloved, did you read that clearly? Elizabeth received a miracle from the Lord that she never thought was possible and it left her in awe for five good months. This is the kind of miracle that you can’t tell anybody for fear that they would wake you up from a dream. The Message translation says… It wasn’t long before his wife, Elizabeth, conceived. She went off by herself for five months, relishing her pregnancy. “So, this is how God acts to remedy my unfortunate condition!” she said.

This encouraged me so good because as I read further, I saw that it was the same miracle the angel of the Lord used to encourage Mary when it was her own turn to expect a miracle that would also leave her in awe.

After telling Mary the ridiculous word that she would be impregnated by the Holy Spirit and would have a child, he said… listen, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. FOR WITH GOD NOTHING [IS OR EVER] SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.” Then Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel left her (Luke 1:36-37 AMP).

Beloved, old Elizabeth became pregnant, AND FOR FIVE MONTHS SHE SECLUDED HERSELF COMPLETELY, SAYING, “This is how the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor on me, to take away my disgrace among men. I read this and started counting at the tip of my fingers; we are five months away from the end of this year… August, September, October, November, and December. So, I started to pray that the Lord should give us a miracle in this month that would cause us to ponder for the rest of the year.

Beloved, do you believe this? Mary said… May it be done to me according to your word… It doesn’t matter what has happened in the past. The word of God says… “Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP).

It didn’t matter that Elizabeth and her husband had served faithfully in the past without anything to show for it. In one moment, the Lord did it. He looked with favor on them and took away their disgrace. You are next in line. May it be done to you according to His word.

When the baby was eight days old, they all came for the circumcision ceremony. They wanted to name him Zechariah, after his father. But Elizabeth said, “No! His name is John!” “What?” they exclaimed. “There is no one in all your family by that name.” So they used gestures to ask the baby’s father what he wanted to name him. He motioned for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s surprise he wrote, “His name is John.” (Luke 1:59-63 NLT)

Beloved, in preparation for a women’s conference coming up later on today, we have been meditating on the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth who were promised in their old age that they would have a child. Each day, we were given specific verses from this story to focus on and it’s really been a blessing. However, there was something that was sent out about our feature text that really caught my attention which was; “DO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO DICTATE YOUR GOD-GIVEN VISION”.

Beloved, we all know this story very well. Zechariah and Elizabeth who were childless all their lives until one day they had a special visitation from the Lord. We are told that… While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altar. Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and YOU ARE TO NAME HIM JOHN (Luke 1:11-13 NLT).

The angel of the Lord gave them specific instructions to name the child John but the people around them thought they knew better. Call him Zechariah, after his father, they said, but Elizabeth was bold and courageous enough to say “NO! HIS NAME IS JOHN!” That’s the name the Lord gave us. She had to stand her grounds and protect what the Lord had given her regardless of the people’s reasonable arguments and thank God, her husband was able to speak up for her.

Beloved, this is why we have been advised to make sure we know God for ourselves and stick to what He tells and shows us. We are never to allow people to contaminate our promise by calling it what it’s not. Don’t allow people to call it what they called your father because there is no one in all your family by the name you want to call it. In other words, don’t allow people to push you down the path of what your father did because that’s what’s familiar to them. Rather, you are to hold on to the specific vision the Lord gave you. Don’t modify it to fit people’s idea of what it should be like, and like we were told as we meditated on this Scripture; “make sure that it’s your voice that prophesies over it. Don’t wait for another person to speak over it because they may not have the same vision as you. Call it by its divine name, for Elizabeth, his name was ‘John’”.

13. July 2017 · Comments Off on GOD HAS THE POWER TO DO WHAT HE HAS PROMISED · Categories: Faith, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Promise, Trusting God

Without weakening in his faith, HE FACED THE FACT THAT HIS BODY WAS AS GOOD AS DEAD—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, BEING FULLY PERSUADED THAT GOD HAD POWER TO DO WHAT HE HAD PROMISED (Romans 4:19-21 NIV).

Beloved, I was having a discussion yesterday with a friend and we were talking about the fact that there are times God allows us to get to the position where we know that if God does not do this for me then we know beyond a doubt that it is not going to happen. Many times, because we’ve got options we don’t really get the opportunity to exercise our faith, but when a woman that has reached menopause is still expecting to have a child, then you know that she is waiting on God alone to make it happen and not man.

In our feature text above, Abraham was waiting on the promise of God to have a child and he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead however, he dared to believe God anyway. For him to face facts means that he knew without a doubt that there was no point looking at his situation. His focus had to be 100 per cent on the Lord. He was fully persuaded that God had the power to do what He had promised.

Beloved, I strongly believe that this is why the Lord makes us wait at times. He allows us get to that point when all other options are dead. At that point, we only have two options; give up or believe God. However, guess which option a lot of us settle for? We choose the former and give up but the Lord says… My righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back (Hebrews 10:38 NIV).

Beloved, Abraham should be our example. He did not weaken in faith. On the contrary, he was strengthened in his faith. He knew that God had the power to do what He had promised. Better still, we are to fix… our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2 NIV)

Now, the question is… regardless of the condition of your situation and how dead it may seem, are you fully persuaded that God has the power to do what He has promised? If so, why not begin to give God the glory in advance.

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me? (Jeremiah 32:26-27 NIV)

26. June 2017 · Comments Off on WHEN THE LORD MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A FOOL · Categories: God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Promise

You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name Him Jesus… Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you… (Luke 1:31-35 NLT).

Beloved, has the Lord ever put you in a position where He makes you sound or look like a fool? Well, I don’t think it can be as bad as Mary’s situation. Please put yourself in Mary’s position and first imagine how this sounds to you and then imagine how you are to communicate it to others. It’s one thing if something like this had happened before but it’s another thing if it’s never been heard of before. I was sharing this week someone last week and even the thought got two of us laughing. Yeah right!

Have you ever received a word from the Lord that you can’t even or don’t want to tell people because the more you recount what you heard, you begin to sound like a fool even to yourself? This is when you feel it’s better not to explain yourself so you start running away from people or if you have to speak to them at all, you pray that they don’t start asking you questions that you don’t have answers to. Probably the reason why Mary went to hideout at Elizabeth’s house. The Bible says she hurried to go and find Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-40). She must have said at least we both share unusual stories.

Can you really imagine how Mary must have felt? This is the kind of news that the Lord ‎may have to confirm with someone else, if not, you’re just going to sound like a complete fool. We are told that… Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph…,” the angel said, “…THE CHILD WITHIN HER WAS CONCEIVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.”‎ (Matthew 1:18-20 NLT)

The Lord knew what was really going on in Joseph’s mind so had to confirm Mary’s story before her life was to be torn apart by this inconceivable news. ‎

Beloved, you’re not ready to be used mightily by God if you’re not prepared to look like a fool for Him. However, if you have any idea how He works, then you should know that… God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise… (1 Corinthians 1:27 NLT)‎.

Yes, you may look like you are indeed foolish for a while but with the kind of word the Lord has given you, it would take its fulfilment for people to understand what God is up to so please hold on to your word and just hang in there.
