25. October 2016 · Comments Off on THE CRY OF RESPONSIBILITY‏ · Categories: Compassion, God's Plan, Intercession, Jesus Christ

When Jesus saw Mary’s profound grief and the moaning and weeping of her companions, He was deeply moved by their pain in His spirit and was intensely troubled. Where have you laid his body? Come and see, Lord. As they walked, JESUS WEPT (John 11:33-35 Voice)

Beloved, this past weekend, I attended a women’s retreat themed ‘Alabaster Box’ based on the woman who wiped Jesus’ feet with her tears (Luke 7:37-38), and let’s just say I’ve never cried like I cried over the course of the three days. During worship, I cried. When I was ministering, I cried. When someone shared something, I cried. It got to the point it was all becoming too weird and I remember telling someone that if you ask me why I am crying, I honestly have no idea but I cried so much that my tears could fill a bucket. In fact, I didn’t just cry. I wailed to the point that it was becoming embarrassing.

After I got home from the retreat, I was so exhausted from all the crying but as I settled down in bed to watch the replay of a Sunday service I usually follow, it just happened that they were preaching about the time Jesus fed the multitude after blessing and BREAKING 5 loafs and 2 fishes. At some point, they started saying that “the tears are a sign that He is breaking you. The tears are not tears of pain. They are TEARS OF RESPONSIBILITY. God is about to break you into a brand-new level”. Hmmm… you can imagine that what they said caught my attention.

How weird? However, I must say this isn’t my first experience. A couple of weeks ago, I shared how the Lord has allowed things to provoke me just so I can travail before Him like Hannah did. And then, earlier in the year, my friend was telling of a painful childhood experience but while she was laughing as she was telling her story, I began to cry uncontrollable and again, this wasn’t ordinary tears. I knew it was the groaning of the Holy Spirit. It felt like it was all the tears she had bottled up from her childhood and I knew Jesus was up to healing some deep-rooted wounds.

Beloved, that was the first time our feature text became very alive to me; “Jesus wept”. Yes, His tears were tears of compassion but they also represented responsibility which said “I’m the One sent to carry the burden of these people and bring about their deliverance.

Why am I sharing this? It’s because there are probably some people who may be experiencing something similar. Perhaps, you’ve become very compassionate and like me, you are now a cry baby. That’s a sure sign of brokenness. Your tears are tears of responsibility and deliverance. God said to Moses… I have avidly watched how My people are being mistreated by the Egyptians. I have heard their groaning at the treatment of their oppressors. I am descending personally to rescue them. So get up. I’m sending you to Egypt.” (Acts 7:34 Voice)

Beloved, what are you crying over? Could the Lord be sending you as a deliverer? (Obadiah 1:21)

God bless you in Jesus Christ name

“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The Law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”… Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger (John 8:4-6 NLT).

Recently, a friend was telling me of how a minister that used to be very passionate for the things of God has fallen. They later came back to say that the Holy Spirit asked that we should pray for him as a brother in Christ, knowing that we are to look out for each other. I responded to them by saying… “‎that was my first prayer, knowing that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23)”.

Do you know that if the body of Christ spend more time praying for those that have fallen, we would get better results? However, we are the first to shout “‎crucify him”.

Recently, I saw a disgusting video on Facebook where a young lady who was stripped stark naked was being followed by a crowd. They stoned her with massive stones (rocks), flogged her with big sticks and then pushed her to the ground as they set fire on her. Hmmm… They weren’t speaking English so I couldn’t hear what they were saying but couldn’t help but wonder what her sin was. Did she steal? Was she caught in adultery? What?

I immediately thought of the woman in the Bible caught in adultery. They brought her to Jesus expecting that He would pass the death sentence but Jesus said… let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one… until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman (John 8:7-9 NLT).

If Jesus were to ask this crowd the same question, I wonder if anybody would have been left.

‎At first, she tried to struggle to get free when the fire first touched her back but then, they pushed her back down and when she saw there was no escaping, she just lay down there under the stack of sticks they piled on her back. At that point, I couldn’t help but wonder what was going through her mind. Was she asking for last minute forgiveness for whatever her sin was? If so, do you think Jesus would forgive her? Would not the Judge of this earth do what is right (Genesis 18:25)?

Zacchaeus comes to mind. While others were busy running their mouth as to why Jesus was associating Himself with a sinner, Zacchaeus was ‎busy repenting of his sins… Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today… For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Luke 19:8-10 NLT)

Can you think of a time Jesus showed you mercy instead of the punishment you deserved? Can you show mercy to someone else?

God bless you

… And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” (Esther 4:14 AMP)

As I was reading the book of Esther again, some fresh revelation came to light; Mordecai and Queen Esther had some unfinished business to resolve in their family lineage.

Firstly, Haman who passionately hated Mordecai was an Amalekite. We are told that… King Xerxes [Ahasuerus] honored [promoted; made great] Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite [A DESCENDANT OF KING AGAG OF THE AMALEKITES, THE HATED ENEMIES OF ISRAEL (WHICH SAUL FAILED TO ERADICATE)… (Esther 3:1 EXB).

Hmmm… The Amalekites were long-time enemies of the Lord and His people. Moses told the Israelites… Remember what the Amalekites did to you when you came out of Egypt. When you were tired and worn out, they met you on the road and attacked [picked off] all those lagging… They were not afraid of God. When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land He is giving you… as your own…, you shall destroy [blot/wipe out] any memory of the Amalekites… Do not forget [SAUL FORGOT, but the Amalekites (called Agagites) come to an end in the book of Esther (Esth. 3:1)]! (Deuteronomy 25:17-19 EXB)

It so happened that Mordecai (and Queen Esther) were descendants of Saul‎. This translation says… Now there was a Jew in the palace of Susa whose name was Mordecai son of Jair. Jair was the son of Shimei, the son of Kish [THESE ARE RELATIVES OF SAUL, SHOWING THAT MORDECAI WAS HIS DESCENDANT]. Mordecai was from the tribe of Benjamin (Esther 2:5 EXB). The Lord had asked Saul to put an end to the Amalekites. Samuel told Saul… This is what the Lord… has declared: I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt. Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation….” (1 Samuel 15:2-3 NLT) but… Saul and his men spared Agag’s life (1 Samuel 15:9 NLT). As a result, the Amalekites appeared again to burn David’s home town, Ziklag to the ground and carry off their women and children and though David managed to kill many of them, some escaped (1 Samuel 30:17).

However, Esther’s time came and with the help of Mordecai, she put an end to that family devil.

I said all this to say that there are some people that the Lord has raised to end long time family battles; that demon that has been attacking your family from generation to generation. This past weekend, as I watched a friend I hadn’t seen since 1989 minister, it came so strongly in my spirit that the Lord is truly raising generals that would finish the work He’s been trying to accomplish in families.

Could you be one of them? If so, why not ask the Lord to position you to put to an end to what your predecessors failed to destroy?

God bless you

‎There are different kinds of gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve [ministries] but the same Lord to serve. And there are different ways that God works through people [kinds of action; activities] but the same God works in all of us in everything we do [all things in all people] (1 Corinthians 12:4-6 EXB).

A couple of Sundays ago, the person that was to lead intercessory prayer in my church couldn’t make it to church so someone else was called to fill the gap. However, though an intercessor, she didn’t find it funny at all being called out without prior warning and refused to accept any compliments afterwards. She felt she were awful. “Just stop it”, she said. But then I told her that it was because she was comparing herself to the mummy of the house who brings down fire when she prays. As a result, everyone else believes they can’t pray. Perhaps that’s the reason the first person bailed on us. LOL

Many of us shy away from functioning in our gifts and callings just because we tend to compare ourselves to others, forgetting that everyone is unique and have been equipped differently.

I remember listening to a preacher say he once noticed that when a particular preacher came to his church, everyone’s screaming and jumping up and down but when he is preaching everyone’s crying. So one day he decided to use the technique of the other preacher which included swinging the microphone in circles as he preached. However, he said the microphone mistakenly hit his lips so hard that he started bleeding. That’s when he gave up… “Sorry guys, I’ll rather be me”. LOL

The Lord won’t anoint the fake you so why do you want to be like somebody else? Why copy their technique? Do you think the Lord cannot use you the way you are? The Lord told Joshua… I will be with you as I was with Moses… (Joshua 1:5 NLT). Same God, two different people with different callings. They were given different strategies but both still split the sea.

The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak with wisdom [message/word of wisdom], and the same Spirit gives another the ability to speak with knowledge [message/word of knowledge]. The same Spirit gives faith to one person. And, to another, that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. The Spirit gives to another person the power to do miracles [works of power], to another the ability to prophesy [prophecy]. And He gives to another the ability to know the difference between good and evil [discernment/distinguishing of] spirits. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages [or ecstatic utterance; tongues] and to another the ability to interpret those languages [interpretation of tongues]. One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things, and the Spirit decides what to give [distributes just as He wishes to] each person (1 Corinthians 12:8-11 EXB).

God bless you

‎‎Last night God’s angel stood at my side, an angel of this God I serve, saying to me, ‘Don’t give up, Paul. You’re going to stand before Caesar yet—and everyone sailing with you is also going to make it.’ So, dear friends, take heart. I believe God will do exactly what He told me. (Acts 27:23-25 NLT).

I just came back from a trip which had me getting on planes 4 different times and each time I boarded, I made this prayer… “Lord, because I’m on this plane going on your assignment,‎ nothing would happen to it” and so, every time they started to go over the safety information, I took to praying.

‎It so happened that as I was returning from one destination, as the captain announced that we should fasten our seat belts because we were about to land, the lady sitting next to me picked up her safety card, called one of the air hostess and started asking… “What does this and that mean? Hmmm… the air hostess tried to explain to her but trust my people for being very religious, she did it in a very dismissive way, telling the lady that it was only for an emergency and that nothing was going to happen because God was with us. However, this lady continued asking. That’s when I looked at her and in my mind said… “Young lady, who sent you? I don’t know who you are or what your mission is on this flight but as a servant of the Most High God, I take authority and nullify every plan of the enemy”. We were both looking at each other and smiling but unknown to her, all the while, I was speaking in tongues until we landed safely.

Now, I’m not saying for sure that she was on any evil assignment ‎but if there’s anything my spiritual mum has taught me is to rather be wrong than sorry. Hmmm… You didn’t ask questions when they were going over the safety instructions, why is it now that we are just about to land that you want to know… what does this mean????

And you expect me to seat down there listening to the air hostess explain what that position is. Before you know it, the devil has a way of injecting fear into one which then gives birth to what he desires. But the devil is a liar.

I told God again‎, “I’m returning from your assignment so nothing is going to happen to this plane because of me”.

Beloved, this is not the time to walk in fear like your unsaved colleagues/acquaintances. No matter, the situation, you need to take authority. Like Paul, you must have confident in this God that you serve to say “because of me, nothing is going to happen to… this company… this car… this bus… this train… this plane…this????

Just remember the Lord’s promises to you that is still yet to happen and know that you are secure.

God bless you

He said to his servant Gehazi, “Tell the woman from Shunem I want to speak to her.” When she appeared, Elisha said to Gehazi, “Tell her, ‘We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’” “NO,” she replied, “my family takes good care of me.” (2 Kings 4:12-13 NLT)

Recently, I was speaking to a lady who has been waiting on the Lord for a long time now for an answer to a particular prayer request but nothing seems to be happening and after waiting so long, out of frustration, she has stopped asking God for what see wants. Now, she prays for everybody else but not herself because she feels “what’s the point? You are not answering my prayer anyway”. However, she said every time she prays for someone else, the Lord keeps asking her… “What about you? What about what you need? Are you not going to ask Me for it?” How can you believe me for somebody else and not believe Me for yourself? I want to hear you bring your case before Me.

Immediately, she said it, I remembered the old hymn that says… “It’s me….It’s me O Lord standing in the need of prayer. Not my father, nor my mother, but it’s me, O Lord…”

It’s me not anyone else… ME!! Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t pray for others. In fact, when waiting on the Lord for something, it’s good that you intercede on behalf of others but it is when you hide behind it‎, then the Lord would start to ask questions like… “Where are you? What about you? Have you given up on Me?”

‎This lady went on to say “I know that it looks like I’m giving up but it’s just that…” In my mind I’m thinking… well, I didn’t say anything. What makes you think I’m thinking that?

However, GIVEN UP? Yes, many have given up because… unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick (Proverbs 13:12 MSG). Many feel It is less painful for me to keep asking and just draw a line under this issue than to keep hoping. Despite being barren, the Rich woman from Shunem was asked what she wanted but she said… I don’t want anything. She was happy going about her business ministering to God’s servant and his needs as far as God didn’t interfere in her personal business. She had given up.

So, what about you‎? Have you given up on God? Are you going about carrying other people’s problems on your shoulder just because it’s too painful to deal with yours? Perhaps, the Lord is asking you today, WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Remember… IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD WITHOUT FAITH. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him (Hebrews 11:6 NLT).

God bless you

Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘IF YOU CAN’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I DO BELIEVE; HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF!” (Mark 9:21-24 NIV)

I DO BELIEVE; HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF… This is one of those stories where one has to laugh when you read it and know that the Lord is speaking to you. This is a man that could have decided to be very religious or spiritual and just say, yes I believe but I like that he was honest and I believe what he was saying was… Yes, I generally do believe and in this case, I want to believe but I am struggling so please help me overcome my unbelief because I seriously don’t know. Kind of similar to when Ezekiel said the Lord asked him… “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” (Ezekiel 37:3 NLT)

There are things you don’t argue about. Who are you fooling? Rather, than pretend, just go before the Lord and say… I know that I am meant to belief you concerning this situation and in theory I do belief that everything is possible for the one who believes but to be honest, in this case, I am struggling to see how things could possibly turn out well, so please help me overcome my unbelief.

Simple honesty… that’s what this is. If we believed 100%, there would be no worry in us. Surely, we would know that there’s nothing to worry about. We would just spend every minute praising and thanking God but there are times when the situation takes the better of us. That’s when we become overwhelming anxious but we are told repeatedly to… Rejoice in the Lord always… Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4.4-7 NIV).

Are you struggling to believe the Lord for something? I like the portion of the Bible where Jesus told Peter… I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail… (Luke 22:32 NIV). Isn’t it reassuring that Jesus is there to help us? Do you need to be honest with Him and ask for help to overcome your unbelief? Why not make it your prayer then?

Oh Lord… Help me overcome my unbelief‏.‏..

God bless you

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10 KJV).

I was telling the women on Saturday that God has already provided the solution to every problem we would ever face here on earth and that’s why Jesus taught us to pray… Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Everything you want here on earth is already in heaven but we’ve got to get connected with God’s Spirit to physically birth what’s already in the spiritual realm. We can do this by praying in the spirit.

Let’s look at the case of Hannah. There was a problem in God’s house. The priest serving at the time were scoundrels who did not have regard for the Lord (1 Samuel 2:12) and in prayer, Hannah had to offer up her unborn son as the solution to that problem. However, how did Hannah know that was God’s will? Hannah was speaking in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Eli clearly did not understand that kind of prayer. He thought she was drunk until she corrected him. But hold on a minute… where else have we heard this before?

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, everyone in the upper room was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues. Then people gathered… Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “THEY HAVE HAD TOO MUCH WINE.” Then Peter… addressed the crowd: “…let me explain this to you…. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT DRUNK, AS YOU SUPPOSE… No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people…. (Acts 2:12-17 NIV).

Was Hannah giving us a taster of how to pray under the influence of God’s Spirit? She prayed the will of God and we are told that… the Spirit… helps in our weaknesses. FOR WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE SHOULD PRAY FOR AS WE OUGHT, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings WHICH CANNOT BE UTTERED. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD (Romans 8:26-27 NKJV).

There are times when we don’t know what to pray for…. Times when we say… I’ve prayed all the prayer I know to pray. However that’s you. But the Spirit of God inside of you knows exactly what God wants you to pray for. That’s why you need to develop the habit of praying in the spirit… Off course, that’s if you want to know what God wants to do in your life in this season.

… “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us THROUGH HIS SPIRIT… (1 Corinthians 2:9-11 NKJV).

God bless you

16. June 2014 · Comments Off on CREATING AN ATMOSPHERE FOR MIRACLES · Categories: Action, Anger, Holy Spirit, Intercession, Peace

In church today, I watched a drama about a so called spirit filled Christian woman who had a major issue with anger. She was a nightmare wife to live with and her husband could not control her. She fought with her neighbours and even took great offence when her pastor preached on anger. She was so mad that she walked out of church and of course continued the fighting with her poor husband at home. How can pastor be preaching about me and you couldn’t even defend me?

The funny thing is that the pastor didn’t even call her name. He was just letting the congregation know that the next seven days were to be dedicated to prayers because God was going to work in miraculous‎ way. As a result, he didn’t want people to allow things like anger, quarrelling and the like hinder their blessings. But this woman was offended by it.

Anyway, on the final day of the programme, they all gathered in church and as the pastor was praying, the move of the Holy Spirit was so strong that one lady was so taken away. She mistakenly hit this woman with a temper and trouble started in church. This woman was almost fighting in church. Her embarrassed husband‎ had to intervene. Meanwhile, there happened to be an angel on assignment distributing blessings. He was just placing stickers of blessings on people in the congregation. Everybody got one but this lady who unfortunately had been looking for the fruit of the womb and this is because she was busy fighting everybody. Even her husband got a promotion sticker.

In due season, another lady that was looking for the fruit of the womb‎ got pregnant and this woman was left wondering why she was the only one left out. Then she heard the voice of the Lord rebuking her because of her anger.

The morale of the story is that at times we are the ones that hinder our blessings because of our attitude.

Coincidentally, the word the Lord gave to me to preach was exactly that. Hannah was a woman that was provoked by her rival, Peninah till the point that she had to desperately cry out to the Lord until her pastor said… GO IN PEACE, and may the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him (1 Samuel 1:17 AMP)

GO IN PEACE… If we take that word literally, it means to be at peace in your mind and also with everybody else including the Peninah’s in your life who would probably try to still make life a living hell for you. Off course, let’s not ignore the fact that you should avoid quarrelling with your spouse whom you need to partner with to make things happen. It is called creating an atmosphere for miracles.

‎God is still in the business of blessing people. Don’t hinder yourself. Why not ask the Holy Spirit to reveal and help you deal with anything that may be causing a hindrance to your blessings.

God bless you

22. March 2014 · Comments Off on WHEN MEN PRAY · Categories: Intercession, Jesus Christ, Prayer

AND ISAAC PRAYED MUCH TO THE LORD FOR HIS WIFE because she was unable to bear children; AND THE LORD GRANTED HIS PRAYER, and Rebekah his wife became pregnant (Genesis 25:21 AMP).

There’s this notion that women are the prayer warriors of the family but I’m not sure where it came from. Maybe it’s because men have somehow pushed that responsibility to the women but reading about how Isaac prayed for his wife and God answered in double portion got me thinking. Barrenness was a generational problem that ran in his family but he was the only one that responded to it differently.

Now let’s see what Isaac’s dad did when faced with the same challenge…

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said (Genesis 16:1-2 NIV).

Hmmm… I wonder what would have happened if Abram had said… Don’t be silly sweetheart… No thanks… I’ll rather pray to my God who gave the mandate to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). Instead, he chose to listen to his wife who was an emotional wreck at the time and wasn’t thinking straight. Hmmm… Maybe you shouldn’t try this because the world is a war zone because of this.

And then let’s see what Isaac’s son did when faced with the same challenge…

When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!” Jacob became angry with her and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?” Then she said, “Here is Bilhah, my servant. Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and I too can build a family through her.” So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife. Jacob slept with her (Genesis 30:1-4 NIV)

Hmmm… just like granddad but like I said, maybe you shouldn’t try this option. Jacob’s home was a war zone because of his many wives…

Women being very emotional beings sometimes don’t always think straight when going through crisis and may need you as the man and head of the house to stand in the gap and intercede for your family like Christ is interceding for His church (Romans 8:34)

Have you thought of the difference it would make if you take up the mantle of prayer in your home? As for you woman, maybe it’s time to start asking your husband to pray for you and the family.

God bless you
