But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord… Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God (Genesis 6:8-9 AMP).

In a world full of evil and wickedness, can you imagine that only one man chose to be different?… The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5 AMP). This was in Noah’s time but does it remind you of the world we live in today? The Message translation says – God saw that human evil was out of control. People thought evil, imagined evil—evil, evil, evil from morning to night.

However, amongst all the evil, one man decided to stand out. It must have been hard. He must have been very lonely because I can’t imagine that anyone was on his side… But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord. The Message translation says – BUT NOAH WAS DIFFERENT. GOD LIKED WHAT HE SAW IN NOAH. THIS IS THE STORY OF NOAH: NOAH WAS A GOOD MAN, A MAN OF INTEGRITY IN HIS COMMUNITY.

Can you imagine that Noah was the only one that brought a smile to the Lord’s face… and in return God said… I will establish My covenant (promise, pledge) with you, and you shall come into the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you (Genesis 6:18 AMP).

You could be that one man that will stand out in your street, in your office, school, in the shop queue, on the bus, on the motor way, wherever. Like someone said… “Integrity is when you stand alone with God… if everybody in the world were to be like you, how would the world be?”

Wouldn’t you say that’s something to think about?

God is always looking for that one man to pour out His favor on and like with Noah, His criteria is clear. We also see this with Abraham… When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; WALK AND LIVE HABITUALLY BEFORE ME AND BE PERFECT (BLAMELESS, WHOLEHEARTED, COMPLETE). AND I WILL MAKE MY COVENANT (SOLEMN PLEDGE) BETWEEN ME AND YOU AND WILL MULTIPLY YOU EXCEEDINGLY (Genesis 17:1-2 AMP).

Dare to stand out? Noah’s ark represents Christ… You can’t say you have entered the ark and still behave like you are. Do something that makes you STAND OUT and watch God do something OUTSTANDING in your life. It doesn’t have to be drastic. You can take baby steps… one decision after the other… and it cannot be done in your own strength… His grace is available so ask for it.

God bless you

FOR GOD IS NOT UNJUST. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers… keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to MAKE CERTAIN THAT WHAT YOU HOPE FOR WILL COME TRUE. Then you will not become SPIRITUALLY DULL AND INDIFFERENT. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance (Hebrews 6: 10-12 NLT).

Have you been waiting on the Lord’s promise for a long while now and it seems like nothing is happening? Have you remained faithful and have done everything He asked of you yet nothing? Have you reached that point where you say… I’ve heard it all before? Please don’t let your spirit be down and most importantly, don’t give up. God’s promise still stands. God made a promise to Abraham and… Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in His own name, saying: “I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number” (Hebrews 6: 13-14 NLT).

Can you imagine God saying “I swear by my Almighty self that I promise to…”? God’s word is enough assurance that He will do what He promised and we ought to take Him by His word. But then He takes it a step further by swearing an oath. Remembering that OATH ought to keep you going because… when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound Himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be PERFECTLY SURE THAT HE WOULD NEVER CHANGE HIS MIND. So God has given both HIS PROMISE AND HIS OATH. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a STRONG AND TRUSTWORTHY ANCHOR for our souls… (Hebrews 6:16-17 NLT).

An anchor is a strong device used to connect a boat to the bed of a body of water to prevent it from drifting or moving due to wind or current. Hang on firmly to what God has promised. He will fulfil it. Your part is to be OBEDIENT. God swore to Abraham after Abraham obeyed His command to take offer Isaac as a sacrifice. We must be willing to do what God tells us to do regardless of how hard it may seem.

God bless you

…These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, He Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one shall shut, Who shuts and no one shall open: I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. SEE! I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU A DOOR WIDE OPEN WHICH NO ONE IS ABLE TO SHUT; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name (Revelation 3:7-8 Amp)

One of the great things I like about the word of God is that there’s nothing misleading in it. If you read it and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, then be sure to be well informed. For example, I like that the word of God warns you that… INDEED they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake (Isaiah 54:15 NKJV).

What does indeed mean? It means Definitely, Certainly, Undeniably, Surely… This means some people are bound to contend with you concerning the doors that have been open to you but He Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one shall shut, Who shuts and no one shall open says He… HAVE SET BEFORE YOU A DOOR WIDE OPEN WHICH NO ONE IS ABLE TO SHUT.

Who is talking here? The Master Jesus! He introduces Himself as the one who can unlock the treasure house which means pouring out blessings and opportunities. He has the key to all the riches in heaven and on earth and by His sovereign authority and power, He can open up its riches to those He chooses. He can determine who gets into the treasure house to experience the blessings.

He has complete control of the entrance to David’s house; that is to the kings palace… (Isaiah 22:22). This means He has the key of government and authority and He is saying because you have been faithful; Because you have been patient; Because you have endured; Because you have held on to My word; Because you did not deny or renounce My name; Because you have been tested through the fire and have been purified like pure gold, the door is wide open

Forget about those that gather together to stir up strife. This is about a covenant between you and the Lord so no one can contend with it. Whoever stirs up strife against you shall fall and surrender to you. However, please also listen to this; Jesus is also the one that shuts and no one shall open so trust that the doors, opportunity and also people He shut out of your life are for a reason.

Receive this word today

God bless you

27. March 2014 · Comments Off on ARE YOU STILL AFRAID? · Categories: Covenant, Faith, Fear, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Relationship

Yesterday, in our Bible study, as part of the Freedom in Christ course (by Neil Anderson) that we were doing, we were taking a closer look at the consequences of the first sin that Adam and Eve committed in the Garden of Eden. Immediately they ate the forbidden fruit that they were commanded not to eat by God, their eyes were opened and they suddenly realized they were naked so they tried to make coverings for themselves and when they heard the sound of the Lord they hid from Him… But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, AND I WAS AFRAID because I was naked; so I hid.” (Genesis 3:9-10 NIV)

AND I WAS AFRAID… The very first emotion expressed by man was FEAR. That was the first time FEAR was introduced into the world. But why were they afraid?

With the new found worldly wisdom that they had just gained, all of a sudden, they were now exposed to all the vulnerabilities of life. They no longer had the covering of God. They had lost that relationship with Him. As a result, they were left to discover their identity, purpose and meaning in life independently of the God that created them… THEY WERE NAKED and it was a scary thing and that emotion governed man from then on.

It’s no wonder that the phrase ‘DON’T BE AFRAID’ is mentioned about 170 times in the Bible. Subsequently, as God revealed Himself to the men in the Bible, most times the first thing He often did was to say… FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU.

Now, as Christians who have accepted Christ, we are no longer uncovered. Our relationship with God has been reestablished. We have been brought back to a position of security, acceptance and significance in Christ. However, for some reason we still try to make a covering for ourselves… trying to tackle life by ourselves and doing thing in our own understanding and strength… which still leaves us vulnerable, leaving us with nothing but that same FEAR. But when you truly know that… I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME (Philippians 4:13 NKJV), the game changes. The opposite of that fear becomes faith.

Fear is a negative emotion that belongs to that old self because… if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

ARE YOU STILL AFRAID? If so, you need to question where it is coming from because… God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

Renounce that spirit of FEAR today and put on your new nature.

God bless you

04. January 2014 · Comments Off on BUILDING THE RIGHT STRUCTURE FOR YOUR FAMILY · Categories: Action, Agreement, Choices, Covenant, God's Plan, Jesus Christ, Relationship

This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence (Genesis 6:9-11 NIV).

Honestly, I’m not sure whether the corruption and violence in Noah days was worse than now. But I like that one man found favour in God’s eyes and God started to give him instructions on how to save his family… MAKE YOURSELF AN ARK of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out (Genesis 6:14 NIV).

I read that the Hebrew word for the ‘ARK’ is only used elsewhere to refer to the basket that saved the baby Moses. His mother made him a watertight basket in the same way and as a result, Moses was saved from the water and the danger that destroyed the lives of many children in his community.

The Lord gave Noah specific instructions that were to cover his whole family but he had to build and stay within the confines of the ark… I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you (Genesis 6:18 NIV).

I don’t know what structures you have put in place for your family but please let it be based on the word of God and specific instructions He may give you… Noah did everything just as God commanded him (Genesis 6:22; 7:9, 16 NIV).

It’s interesting when you read about Jacob; his instruction was to go to Bethel but… he arrived safely at the city of Shechem…. he bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, the plot of ground where he pitched his tent (Genesis 33:18-19 NIV). He liked the fruitfulness of the land but what followed… Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land. When Shechem son of Hamor… saw her, he took her and raped her (Genesis 34:1-2 NIV). This just happened to be where Jacob built his well. Same place Jesus met the Samaritan woman drawing water from Jacob’s well. Hmmm…

It’s best to follow God’s instruction… Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark TO ESCAPE THE WATERS OF THE FLOOD (Genesis 7:7 NIV).

Jesus said… “whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall…“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV)

10. June 2013 · Comments Off on POSITION YOURSELF · Categories: Blessing, Choices, Covenant, Deliverance, Grace, Humility

When you come together to pray, it’s normally for blessings… Lord please do this and that for me but for the past few weeks, my prayer partner and myself have been moved by the Lord to pray for grace to live a humble and blameless life before Him because He’s looking for such people in this end times. And then yesterday the following Scripture was mentioned in church;

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are BLAMELESS TOWARD HIM (2 Chronicles 16:9 AMP).

Immediately, the Lord started ministering to me about some people that stood out in His eyes.

The first was Noah who found… grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord… Noah was a just and RIGHTEOUS MAN, BLAMELESS in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God (Genesis 6:8-9 AMP). The New Living Translation says he was… the only blameless person living on earth at the time. As a result, Noah was given an innovative idea to create the world’s first state-of-the-art ship to protect his family from forthcoming danger.

Then there was Abraham. The Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ SERVE ME FAITHFULLY AND LIVE A BLAMELESS LIFE. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.” (Genesis 17:1-2 NLT).

The Lord’s eyes fell on Abraham and saved him from his family shrine… Joshua said to the people, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River, and they worshiped other gods. But I took your ancestor Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him into the land of Canaan. I gave him many descendants through his son Isaac (Joshua 24:2-3 NLT).

Then there was Virgin Mary…the mother of Jesus Christ. The Lord’s eyes fell on her and He sent Angel Gabriel; go get that girl. I want to use her and… Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!… for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name Him Jesus” (Luke 1:28-31 NLT).

God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to Him. Are you going to POSITION YOURSELF so He sees you? The blessing is not a problem. He will bring you out of whatever mess you’re in. He told Abraham I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. Your own part is to walk before Him faithfully and be blameless. I always tell the Lord that I don’t ever want to be a hypocrite so help me do right by You. Today I pray for the grace to live a humble and blameless life so you are WELL POSITIONED and His eyes will fall on you to show Himself strong.

God bless you

…Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and SALVATION are more than words. LEARN HOW TO APPLY THEM. You’ll need them throughout your life… (Ephesians 6:13-18 MSG).

Taking up SALVATION as your helmet is the fifth armour of God you can use to fight against the enemy. It’s clear that the Helmet is used to protect the solders head but how does this apply to you?

Let’s see… A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying, “I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!” Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this. But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?” Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered (Acts 19:13-16 NLT).

LOL…serves you right. Do you think it’s everybody that is entitled to use that name?

Taking up SALVATION as your helmet is the hope and confidence born again Christains have (1 Thessalonians 5:8) and I believe developing spiritual muscles in this area is more to do with building that confidence. Although satan opposes God and tries to attack His people, you need to know that Jesus has already destroyed the works of satan. The cross has broken his power so you are fighting from a point of victory. Colossians 2:15 (AMP) says- [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

There is this boldness that comes because you know what happens at the end; that you have already won the battle. When you watch an action movie for the first time, there’s anxiety because you don’t know the outcome but when you watch it again, no matter what goes on, you already know the outcome so you are more relaxed. Also, when you see a main actor in a movie, like Denzel Washington, James Bond or Arnold Schwarzenegger, you more or less know who would win. It may get very intense but somehow at the back of your mind, you know who is going to win because like we use to say back in the days… An actor never dies.

That’s the kind of confidence your salvation gives. You must know that the Holy Spirit within you is greater than the devil so you need to protect your mind with the assurance that God has indeed saved and given eternal life to those who believe in Christ.

Satan may have limited freedom to harass Christians but he does not have authority over you. He is like a dog attached to a chain.

We have the name of Jesus as a strong weapon and like David you must be able to tell your giant… “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45).

Also remember that you… overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of your testimony… (Revelation 12:11)

Be confident. You are more than a conquerer and as you use the name and blood of Jesus to fight against the enemy, be sure that you have won every battle thrown your way in the mighty name of Jesus Christ… Amen

Let’s learn how to apply the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT next…

God bless you

Ever found yourself in deep trouble and out of desperate you start making all sorts of promises to the Lord?

O Lord, if You do this thing for me…if You heal me or get me out of this mess, I promise to take my relationship with You more seriously; I would spend more time praying, praising and worshiping You; I promise to tell people of Your goodness; I promise to obey You for the rest of my life; I’ll never commit that sin ever again.

Well, you are not alone. We all tend to make bargains with God when we are desperate. However, as soon as help comes, the vows are forgotten and we immediately turn to our old ways.

Psalm 66:13-15 (NLT) says – 13 Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings to fulfill the vows I made to you— 14 YES, THE SACRED VOWS THAT I MADE WHEN I WAS IN DEEP TROUBLE. 15 That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you— the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma, and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats.

The Psalmist made a SACRED VOWS WHEN HE WAS IN DEEP TROUBLE and he remembered and was prepared to carry it out.

God is a good God. He remembers His promises to us and answers us when we come to Him. In the same way, He remembers our promises to Him. We may forget but He doesn’t.

I remember watching a movie once and in it this couple were in so much debt that they cried out to the Lord. They made a commitment to wait on the Lord in prayer. They gave Him the exact times and venue…everything…and the Lord took record to the last detail.

They started well…As promised, Friday night was night vigil and the angel of the Lord would turn up at the exact time specified with his pen and paper ready to take their requests to God. However, they started slipping. The angel of the Lord would turn up on time as agreed but they would either turn up late, sleep half way through or not turn up at all.

They did this for a while and found that their situation did not change. So in frustration, the man cried out to the Lord…What is going on? I have been praying…why are you not answering? The Lord replied…no you haven’t. The Lord then opened his eyes to see that He kept His own side of the bargain…You on the other hand said you would meet in church certain Saturdays to pray between the hours of 10-12 and I assigned my angels to be there at 10-12. It’s not my fault that you turn up late. And even then…you start chatting with people at the door about the football match. Yes, you eventually start praying at 12:30 but by then, the angel has gone.

Get the message? What vows have you made in your time of need? I would devote my life to you? I will never commit that sin again? Hmmm…Jesus told the lame man by the pool of Bethesda…“Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” (John 5:14 NLT).

Thank God we have a merciful God because I don’t think I can remember all the unredeemed vows I have hanging over my head and I know I’m not alone so I pray that He indeed has mercy on us and that as He starts to remind us of those vows we have made to Him, we receive the grace to fulfill them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

God bless you

I’ve never been a great fan of wrestling. However, I remember as a child, on Saturday’s, we used to gather round the television to watch wrestling. Those were the days of Mighty Igor and Mil Máscaras. I liked watching them but most times, I would cover my face so I don’t get to see the bunches and slamming. I don’t like fighting and I just can’t understand why people would volunteer to get in to the ring to get slammed and beaten so badly… swollen faces…blood shut eyes…noise bleeding…Lord have mercy. Why would you choose to put yourself through that?

For Christian’s, its different. We don’t have a choice…from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12 NKJV).

We are in a battle. You can chose to get beaten but we can’t say I don’t want to fight…go away. It’s not a case of volunteering and choosing who you want to fight with and unlike the wrestlers, it’s definitely not a physical fight…12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. THEN AFTER THE BATTLE YOU WILL STILL BE STANDING FIRM (Ephesians 6:12-13 (NLT).

The Message translation says – This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

But the good news is that we are fighting from a point of victory and we must use the whole of God’s armor to resist the enemy AND HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND…make sure you’re still standing.

I’ve watched some matches where, the wrestlers make so much noise but after all the hype, they run out of the ring when they face strong opposition and I’m thinking where you are running to? Is it only mouth you’ve got? LOL. I don’t blame you I’ll probably run myself. I don’t like to be bunched and especially not in the face and like I said, when watching, I would cover my face and would only look up when the referee has announced the winner. And I can remember there were times when I couldn’t tell who the winner was because everyone was lying flat on the floor…can’t get up. The fight was so intense. Some stand and fall back down.

We often get into battles like this…Fierce fights…that could take you down…that could make you lose all the fighting spirit in you but we are encouraged…HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND…STAND

So how can we remain standing? We fight the enemy with the truth (putting on the belt of truth). By living right by God (the body armor of God’s righteousness). Remain calm (put on the peace that comes from the Good News -John 14:27). When the enemy says that this is it for you, have faith in the Lord that says the battle is mine (hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil). Fight from a point of victory (put on salvation as your helmet). Use the word of God as a weapon (take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God). And be persistent in prayer (pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere) Ephesians 6:14-18 (NLT).

Remember you are more than a conqueror…DO EVERYTHING TO REMAIN STANDING

Let’s revisit an old story with what is hopefully some fresh insight…Ready?

The Lord appears to Abraham and makes a number of promises including this one… I will bless those who bless you and CURSE THOSE WHO TREAT YOU WITH CONTEMPT. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:3 NLT)

A while later, the Lord appears to Abraham again and tells him to circumcise every male among him as a sign of the Covenant He is making with Abraham and his generation. This sign acts as a visible reminder and everyone carrying this sign is under the covenant. Anyone without that sign is not under the covenant (Genesis 17:9-14).

Again, after Abraham passes the Lord’s test by obeying His command to sacrifice his son, the Lord reaffirms His covenant. Genesis 22:15-17 (NET) says – 15 The Lord’s angel called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “‘I solemnly swear by my own name,’ decrees the Lord, ‘that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.

YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL TAKE POSSESSION OF THE STRONGHOLDS OF THEIR ENEMIES…So here comes David, the giant killer, fully equipped with this knowledge that he is under this covenant promise and Goliath isn’t…He capitalises on it…

1 Samuel 17:26 (AMP) says – And David said to the men standing by him, What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this UNCIRCUMCISED PHILISTINE that he should defy the armies of the living God?

UNCIRCUMCISED PHILISTINE…He stresses this point again when King Saul tries to tell him he’s not able to go to fight against Goliath because he’s only a small boy. David must have thought to himself…you don’t understand, I carry an everlasting covenant…He replied by saying…Your servant killed both the lion and the bear; and this UNCIRCUMCISED PHILISTINE shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God! (1 Samuel 17:36 AMP)

And we know the story well…the giant was no match for our Lord. That’s someone that REALLY KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE UNDER THE LORD’S COVENANT…Giant killers sees promises instead of problems.

Now what about us? Jesus Christ has become the guarantor of a better covenant (Hebrews 7:22) and He is able to save those who come to God through Him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf (Hebrews 7:25).

So are we going to be like David that knew he had an everlasting covenant with the Lord and use it to our advantage against every enemy that comes our way? Are we able to say…You come against me with all your weapons of evil, trials, temptation, depression, sickness, sin…but I come against you in the name of the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45).

Let’s meditate on what it really means to be under a covenant with Jesus. I pray that as we do so, we gain full revelation and start to walk in all His promises which are Yes and Amen

God bless you
