LET THE WORDS FROM THE BOOK OF THE LAW BE ALWAYS ON YOUR LIPS. MEDITATE ON THEM DAY AND NIGHT so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success (Joshua 1:7-8 VOICE).

Beloved, recently the question was asked “how many have ever worried about a thing?” How many go about worrying all day and all night about something that’s bothering them. Some of those that answered said sometimes, they even find themselves worrying all week while one man shouted that they have once worried about something all year long. The person that asked the question then highlighted the fact that that’s meditation carried out on the wrong thing; when you go about worrying over the same situation over and over again. You play it back in your mind, giving yourself sleepless nights, wondering how to resolve a problem.

That’s meditating on the wrong thing. However, if you took that same effort and applied it on the right thing which is the word of God like our feature text advises you to do, then you will prosper and always find success. Some translation says… then you will have GOOD SUCCESS… meaning there’s good and then there’s bad success.

Beloved, there are a number of things that our text highlights. Firstly, LET THE WORDS FROM THE BOOK OF THE LAW BE ALWAYS ON YOUR LIPS… This means you are constantly speaking the word and then secondly, you are to be… careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do… then…

So, there’s the doing aspect of the word and like Apostle James says… prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by UNSOUND REASONING contrary to the truth] (James 1:22 AMP).

UNSOUND REASONING… This sounds like another phrase for worrying to me.

Beloved, I once heard of a story of a student who was leaving home for school and so his father gave him a Bible to take with him. Once at school, he ran into some financial problems and so called home to ask for assistance. His father then asked him “have you opened your Bible?” He said “no dad”. So his father told him “go and open your Bible”. He hung up the phone but didn’t do as his father advised. Later, the son called again begging for assistance but the father kept referring him back to the Bible. Eventually, the son decided to take his father’s advice and as he opened the Bible, he saw that his father had stuck money inside the pages of the Bible. In the Bible was the answer to his problem but because he didn’t take the time to open it up, he wasted that time worrying.

Beloved, are you spending time meditating on the right thing?

God bless you in Jesus Christ name
