So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them WE FELT LIKE grasshoppers, AND THAT’S WHAT THEY THOUGHT, TOO!” (Numbers 13:32-33 NLT).

Beloved, reading our feature text, the question I would have loved to ask these men that brought a bad report is “are you in the minds of other people to know what they are thinking about you or is this how you actually see yourself?”

One thing I have come to realise is that most times, we (and not the enemies we see in front of us) are our worst enemies. Please notice they didn’t say “THAT’S WHAT THEY SAID, TOO”. They said “THAT’S WHAT THEY THOUGHT, TOO… and my question is how did they know that’s what they were thinking if they weren’t thinking the same about themselves? Isn’t it funny how we sometimes reduce ourselves to nothing just because of what we think other people are thinking of us?

Beloved, what do you think people think about you? Does it really matter? Well, for a very long time I was a slave to WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT… but not anymore. When you find your identity in Christ, what He thinks of you is what’s important and what you think about yourself is equally important.

What makes you think they think you’ve made a fool of yourself? Or that they think you are no good? Or they think you are rubbish? It’s all in your head! The real problem is not how people see you but how you see yourself.

These men said… Next to them ‘WE FELT LIKE’ grasshoppers.

Beloved, ‘WE FELT’… is a feeling and as Christians, we shouldn’t pay attention to those negative feelings like… fear… intimidation, worthlessness etc.

The Lord knew they were facing giants. It wasn’t a surprise to God but He said go and take over the land anyway. This was because He wasn’t sending them out in their own strength and I like how two of the men responded… Joshua… and Caleb… said to all the people of Israel, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the Lord is pleased with us, He will bring us safely into that land and give it to us…. Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!” (Numbers 14:6-9 NLT)

Beloved, some saw giant’s while some saw HELPLESS PREYS. What made the difference? THE LORD IS WITH US!!! Your confidence should come from the Lord. Only then would you know that you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) and that’s how you should always see yourself! Beloved, do you have some renewing of the mind to do? (Romans 12:2)

Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I WILL SHOW YOU WHICH OF HIS SONS TO ANOINT FOR ME (1 Samuel 16:3 NLT).

Beloved, theres always a tendency to feel left out when you think your life is in the hands of people but God knows exactly who you are, what you do and where you are. This was the case when God chose David and rejected his brothers.

All seven of Jesse’s sons that were used to being in the limelight got prepared and publicly they… were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “THE LORD HAS NOT CHOSEN ANY OF THESE.” (1 Samuel 16:10 NLT)

Samuel then says… Daddy, no disrespect… I’m not trying to question whether you know how many sons you have but you must have another son and we will not sit down to eat until we see him. So Daddy sends for David and when he arrives the Lord said…“THIS IS THE ONE; ANOINT HIM.” So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on… (1 Samuel 16:12-13).

Beloved, the Lord rejects all 7 sons in front of everybody and then they witness as he anoints David. None of them can argue. As if that wasn’t enough, God says I’ll show you another reason why you can’t dispute my choice.

A huge giant challenges God’s people… give me a man, that we may fight together (1 Samuel 17:10 AMP) and he…came out morning and evening, presenting himself for FORTY DAYS (1 Samuel 17:16 AMP) to see if anyone would stand up to the challenge.

Now, the number 40 in the Bible symbolises a period of testing or proving. During this period, neither King Saul, David’s brothers nor did any man in Israel step forward to challenge Goliath and It just so happened that after the 40 days of waiting to see if anyone could man up to the challenge, Daddy sends David to the battle ground to take food to his brothers.

As he arrives on the scene… Behold, Goliath, the champion, the Philistine of Gath, came forth from the Philistine ranks and spoke the same words as before, and David heard him. And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, terrified (1 Samuel 17:23-24 AMPC).

Beloved, David volunteered to fight for God’s people and though Saul told him he couldn’t take on Goliath, he killed Goliath in front of everyone to see. Now, I’m sure people would say wow…the Lord did not make a mistake with His choice.

Beloved, what am I trying to say? The Lord knows how to publicly announce those He approves. This was the same with Jesus….When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.” (Matthew 3:17)

Beloved, do you currently feel ignored and left out? The Lords selection is UNDISPUTED which means something that’s undeniable; unquestionable or unchallenged; None can argue against it because it’ so clear. That’s what happened to David and that’s what woukd be your story if you just wait on the Lord.

…You shall love your neighbor AS [YOU DO] YOURSELF (Matthew 22:39 AMP).

Beloved, I remember hearing this and couldn’t stop laughing but it’s so true. Forget about your relationship with your spouse, your children, your friends… what kind of relationship do you have with yourself? Are you constantly beating yourself up and condemning yourself or wishing you were like someone else?

Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment in the law was and He said; First, you must love the Lord with everything that’s in you…and a second is… You shall love your neighbor AS [YOU DO] YOURSELF.

AS [YOU DO] YOURSELF… This is the foundation on which your other relationships are built on so the question is how much do you love yourself because you can’t give what you don’t have. If you are constantly putting yourself down, what do you think you would be doing to others around you?

Now, I’m not talking about an unhealthy, obsessive love where you begin to worship yourself and expect everyone to bow before you. NO! I’m talking of one that looks up to the Lord and says I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well (Psalm 139:14 NKJV).

Many see themselves through the lens of what life has thrown at them or what people have said and done to them and are constantly in a battle with their mind. There are people who look in the mirror and don’t like what they see. Some actually say… I hate my life but the devil is a liar. The only lens you need to see yourself through is that of Jesus who felt you were worth dying for.

Many talk about God restoring all that the enemy has stolen from them but I believe one of the first steps to restoration is looking deep inside and seeing the person that Jesus sees. Allow every thing or person that has caused you to bow your head low; every hurt; every shame bring you to the feet of Jesus. There, you would look around and won’t find any of your accusers and that includes YOU… where are your accusers? Has no man condemned you? (John 8:10)

Beloved, are you in a bad relationship with myself? You need to invest time in getting to know the person God has called you to be and stripe all the layers people and bad experiences have piled on you so you can find real freedom, peace, acceptance, significance, and security that no one else can give you but Jesus.

Finding peace within YOU is the first step to being at peace with others. Accepting yourself for who you are is the first step to accepting others for whom they are. Forgiving yourself is the first step to forgiving others. Treating yourself with respect is the first step to treating others with respect.

Like Joyce Meyer once said; EVERYWHERE YOU GO, YOU ARE THERE. You can’t get away from yourself so make peace with yourself.

Beloved, if the whole world were to be like you, how would it be? SELAH!

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today (Matthew 6:31-34 NLT).

Beloved, do you know that it would be a worthwhile exercise to observe yourself for a short period of time and make a note of the kind of things that dominate your thoughts and then ask yourself this thought provoking question; am I a believer or an unbeliever? Beloved, isn’t an unbeliever somebody that doesn’t believe?

We all need to meditate on our feature text and like the man who brought his son to Jesus did, we should cry… out [with a desperate, piercing cry], saying, “I do believe; help [me overcome] my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24 AMP)

Writing this post, 3 case scenarios came to mind…

When Elisha prophesied and said… “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver. ” The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” (2 Kings 7:1-2 NLT)

Or when Ezekiel said… The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” (Ezekiel 37:1-3 NLT)

Or when the angel of the Lord told Mary… “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God…” Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her (Luke 1:35-38 NLT).

Beloved, no way!… “I’m not sure… or May everything you have said about me come true… which one are you going to be? Or do you just need to say “Lord, help me overcome my unbelief”

Beloved, the word of the Lord for you today is… Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).

05. December 2016 · Comments Off on ‏‏INTEGRITY IS PART OF THE BRAND · Categories: Uncategorized

David shepherded them with the honor and integrity of his heart; he led them in wisdom with strong and skillful hands (Psalm 78:72 Voice).

Beloved, someone I know was asked to give a talk of how he became successful in his business. He’s known for the excellency of his brand but rather than give some very impressive speech, he chose to talk about integrity because he knew that’s what kept him in business.

He’s in the property business and other related services and was telling me about a very wealthy client he started working with about 5 years ago, whom he helped acquire a property in the UK. Since then, they’ve been working together and he’s made about half a million pounds from him since then. The wealthy client soon moved to Africa because he got an appointment to work with the president of his country in Africa. That then opened doors for this person I was talking to to be introduced to the President, his family and other influential people.

One day he was having a conversation with this very rich client who then told him about how he was introduced to a chap that did something similar to what he did. This wealthy client was to bring his family to the UK on holidays and wanted this other chap to help him organize a short-let accommodation. The guy came back to tell him that he found one for £6000. He was then given the money but instead of doing what he was asked to do, he went to arrange with a friend to temporarily vacate his flat so that he could give it to the rich client. Can you imagine that? Now, this is a client that would normally stay in a five-star central London hotel. He paid for you to arrange a proper short let accommodation but because you lacked integrity, you tried to play a fast one. Unfortunately, as soon as the rich client saw the place and realized what the chap had done, he didn’t even bother to get down from the car. He took his family to a hotel and never had anything to do with him again.

Beloved, now when this chap was doing this, he felt £6000 was a lot of money, but he didn’t realize that he had just short changed himself, because if he had done what he was paid to do, perhaps he would have built a lasting relationship with this rich client. Perhaps he would have been the one who made all the money that this person telling me the story makes from this wealthy client… if only he had integrity.

The person telling me the story went on to say “I don’t know the bloke but if I meet him today, I would smack his head and call him a silly bloke because he is indeed a silly broke…silly”. LOL

Beloved, why am I sharing this story? King David was known for several things but our feature text talks about the integrity of his heart and wouldn’t it be nice to hear someone tell you “I chose you or am with you just because of the integrity of your heart?”

18. November 2016 · Comments Off on HOW DO YOU VIEW YOUR STORMS? · Categories: Uncategorized

God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of His purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out His best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. The experts of our day haven’t a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn’t have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross (1 Corinthians 2:7-8 MSG).

Beloved, how do you view the storms you face? On Sunday, we talked about perspective in church and all throughout the week it kept coming up. If you don’t have perspective on what God is up to, you can easily lose your zeal and you start to take offence with God which is prove that you don’t have language for your process.

I remember when someone said “don’t always look at a problem as a demonic attack. Yes; the devil and his cohorts may be behind it but what they were trying to say is that you should focus on God and what He is up to. There’s nothing that takes God unawares. If you don’t believe that, then it means you question the omniscience of God but I do believe nothing takes God unawares. You may be surprised at certain things that happen but God isn’t. The New Living Translation of our text says… the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.

The princes of this world had no idea that they were only a tool in God’s hands. You too should know this fact. This takes a mind-set change to understand that God is up to something. There is promotion on the way… a higher level of anointing… spiritual growth and much more when God allows adversity to come your way. If it’s not going to work out for your good, then He would not allow it. The moment I started to ask God what He was up, that was the moment my life changed and I began to get closer to God and grow through my storms.

Beloved, please I’m not saying you should not bind the devil but some of us call the devil’s name more than we call the Lord’s name and one may want to ask “who then is your God?” Instead of spending all your energy pursuing devils all your life, you can just… submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7).

Beloved, your life is in God’s hand and not the devil. God is always up to something and it takes a shorter period of ‘going through’ when you focus on what that ‘something’ is. The Bible says… and after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you (1 Peter 5:10 ESV).

Even though you intended to harm me, God intended it only for good, and through me, He preserved the lives of countless people, as He is still doing today (Genesis 50:20 Voice).

Beloved, a while ago, someone sent me the following message and I know that I have shared it before but I feel led to share it again.

A man had one very beautiful daughter. When the daughter was ready for marriage, the father sent news around town that all the eligible young men should come to compete in a test which would determine who was fit to marry his daughter. On that day, all was set; all the able-bodied young men came out. Some came with pen and paper and others with cutlasses and swords.

The rich man took them to his swimming pool and addressed the men: “Any of you who can swim from one end of this swimming pool to the other would marry my daughter. In addition, I‘ll give him 15million dollars, a car and a house so they can start life well. I shall be waiting to meet my son-in-law at the other end. Good luck!”

As the young men, all very excited at the prospect of winning, started taking off their shirts, a helicopter came over the pool and dropped alligators and crocodiles into the pool. Immediately, all the men turned back and started wearing their shirts again. Disappointed, some of them said, “That’s crazy! Let’s see who would marry that girl! No one will’.

All of a sudden, they heard a splash in the pool. Everybody watched in amazement as one gentleman waddled across, expertly avoiding the alligators and crocodiles. Finally, he made it to the other side. The rich man could not believe it. He asked the young man to name anything he wanted but the man was still panting uncontrollably. However, when he got back his senses, he said, “SHOW ME THE PERSON WHO PUSHED ME INSIDE THIS POOL!” LOL

Beloved, what’s this story trying to tell us? Firstly, you don’t know what you are capable of doing until you are PUSHED! Secondly, those seeking to push you into the jaws of alligators and crocodiles may have helped you to reach your promised land!!!

This was what happened to Joseph. Because of his dream, his brothers wanted him dead so… they conspired against him to kill him… They said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming! Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ WE SHALL SEE WHAT WILL BECOME OF HIS DREAMS!” (Genesis 37:18-20 NKJV)

Well, according to our feature text, they failed to see that their conspiracy was the push Joseph needed towards his dreams.

Beloved… some of us need to be pushed (hopefully not into a swimming pool full of alligators and crocodiles) before realizing our potentials and reaching our goals in life so don’t be mad at who pushed or is pushing you. Focus on what it has opened you to.

06. October 2016 · Comments Off on WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT? · Categories: Uncategorized

So Sarah laughed to herself [when she heard the Lord’s words], saying, “After I have become old, shall I have pleasure and delight, my lord (husband) being also old?” (Genesis 18:12 AMP)

Beloved, I remember when someone asked the question; “WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT?” A question that is loaded and makes you really think. The Lord told Abraham that He would surely return in a year and Sarah his wife would have a son. However, because they were already very old and past the age of childbearing, Sarah could not possibly see how that could happen. So, we are told that Sarah laughed at God but if you think long enough you too are bound to find something that would make you laugh. And please, may I warn you not to lie like Sarah did because you may just hear the Lord’s voice saying… “Yes you did; you laughed and are still laughing.” Even before Sarah laughed, we saw yesterday that Abraham, the great model of faith also laughed (Genesis 17:17)

So, WHAT WILL YOU LAUGH ABOUT? Think about it for a moment… is it your health being restored? Is it your job? is it your finances? Is it having peace in your marriage or your marriage been restored? is it that wayward child coming back home? is it overcoming that bad habit? Or is it your loved one’s coming to Christ? What will make you laugh? As you compile your list, please ask yourself the same question the Lord asked Sarah… Is anything too difficult or too wonderful for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14 AMP)

Beloved, your honest response to this question may just reveal how well you trust the Lord. What I have found out is that for many of us, there are particular areas in our lives where we have so much faith in the Lord compared to some other areas and for me, when I did an honest evaluation a while ago, I found out that those areas were the areas that involved my own human effort. In order, words, I could see how things could happen based on my helping God to make it happen. Like the Bible says… faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26).

We tend to have our greatest faith when it comes to things we can add our works to; that is, things we can physically see ourselves doing and all we need God for is to sign on the dotted lines. However, there are some things that are like Jesus said… “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26 AMP)

Beloved, Sarah laughed because there was no humanly possible way that by this time next year she would have a child but she was so wrong. The Lord did the impossible so why not hand over your list to Him and say, this is something I may currently laugh at because I feel it’s impossible but I want You to prove me wrong and make this impossible situation become possible.

04. September 2016 · Comments Off on WHAT GODLY SORROW PRODUCES‏ ‏ · Categories: Uncategorized

Now this type of deep sorrow, godly sorrow, is not so much about regret; but it is about producing a change of mind and behaviour that ultimately leads to salvation. But the other type of sorrow, worldly sorrow, often is fleeting and only brings death. Look at what is happening among you! Notice how authentic and diligent you have become because this godly sorrow has been at work in your community. But there’s more: your desire to clear your name, your righteous anger, your respect, your longing, your zeal, and your concern for justice. All these demonstrate how you have been made clean (2 Corinthians 7:10-11 Voice).

Beloved, our feature text talks about the kind of results that godly sorrow produces which is a change of mind and behaviour. However, it baffles me why many don’t want to hear any message that brings about godly sorrow. Oh how we love messages that say… There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1 NKJV).

Well, that’s condemnation but what about godly sorrow which is almost like a swear word these days. Unfortunately, many of us regret, apologise but we don’t repent. We still have the same evil desires and actions.

Beloved, the Bible says God is the One… working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13 NLT) but how many go before His presence to say “Lord I’m not leaving this place until this thing breaks off me. I was sharing with a few people last week that if we all focused on how to change ourselves instead of looking for scriptures to justify ourselves or shifts the responsibility away from us, we would have a lot more changed lives that are a light to the world (Matthew 5:14) and like I once told a friend, God would not enable us with the grace to live a life that rebels against Him.

The same Apostle Paul who said… I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway (Romans 7:18-19 NLT), also said… I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27 NLT).

He goes on to say… Make no mistake: God can’t be mocked… What you sow, you harvest. Those who sow seeds into their flesh will only harvest destruction from their sinful nature. But those who sow seeds into the Spirit shall harvest everlasting life from the Spirit (Galatians 6:7-8 VOICE).

Godly sorrow produces a change of mind and behaviour… I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV).

…We should go straight in… and take it over. We are surely able! (Numbers 13:30 VOICE) … If we all do what is right in the eyes of God, the Eternal will bring us into the land and make it ours… nothing can protect them from the Eternal, who is with us… (Numbers 14:8-9 VOICE)

Beloved, I found myself randomly asking God this question “where do we sometimes miss it?” And the answer was simply that we don’t totally trust Him and when we look at this in the context of the 12 spies that went to explore their promised land, some were able to take hold of the promise while the majority didn’t. They actually died in the wilderness without seeing it. And why did they die? The Promised Land can only be possessed when you rely totally on God.

Were the people stronger? Were there giants? YES! The fact is that big giants would always be there but if you focus on the giants; the hospital report, your limited or lack of resources instead of God, you can’t take hold of your promise. There would always be difficult situations but it’s not about the difficult situation. It is about trusting in the Lord’s ability to give you what He promised despite the situation. That’s the key to the promises of God and if you can just remove our eyes from those obstacles, you are in.

Beloved, we ought to have a different spirit‏. The Lord said this about Caleb… For Caleb though, it’s a different matter. He’s distinct from the others by having a different spirit and has followed My lead wholeheartedly. I will make sure that he is able to enter the land and to live in it—he and his descendants after him (Numbers 14:24 VOICE).

According to my Bible notes “What a sad time it is for the Israelites… The Israelites stand on the edge of God’s promise, and they can’t find the courage to believe and to move forward by faith into the promise. Because of their reluctance to believe, they must wander through this wilderness with only God to supply their basic needs until He has purged the nation of those who lack faith. The next 38 years will cleanse the nation and DEVELOP THE CHARACTER EACH PERSON NEEDS TO CLAIM THE PROMISES OF GOD. This same two-step process is repeated throughout the Bible: refine and cleanse while building the necessary faith”.

DEVELOP THE CHARACTER EACH PERSON NEEDS TO CLAIM THE PROMISES OF GOD… that’s where many of us are stuck right now and where we can develop all the humility, long suffering etc. if we still fail to totally trust and rely on God, we would be like… “What is going on?  I just seem to be going around and around”.

Beloved, it’s because you stop at ‘refine’ and ‘cleanse’ but you now need to build the necessary faith which involves totally trusting and relying on God to give it to you despite the perceived opposition.
